Chapter 1

Just to make things clear, this is definitely not the beginning. It didn't start like this. My story –I mean– it didn't just start like this. This is where things just become..... Vivid, weird and relevant.

I was crouched, one knee on the floor while in my hands I held the ring, the ring of keys of course and at the same time I struggled to fix my shoe lace.

After I had done that, I stood up and brushed my knees, getting rid of imaginary dusts off my jeans.

I clutched my hand around the handle of my suitcase and wheeled it to the direction I was supposed to follow to get to the Hall my dorm was in. It was frustrating, I had to ask for directions every corner I take to get to...what's it's name again?

I looked at the squeezed sheet in my hand and my brain immediately picked up the name I had been glancing at every few minutes. Coutod Hall. I'm pretty sure Vincent, my brother, said that was an all-male dorm. I just can't keep the name in my head, I was too frustrated, too eager to get to my destination. I wasn't good with reading maps so that didn't help at all.

A stream of boys whizzed past me and took a corner at the far left of the direction I was going. Wherever that was, I already know that's an all-male dorm.

I feel weird though, even though I shouldn't feel so. Especially not after I had rubbed it in my brother's face. When I told him I applied for Crest University he simply laughed at my face telling me Crest would never accept me, especially when I was going to study photography. But I feel weird. It's like I'm surrounded by boys.

"Excuse me!" I called out to a lanky guy that was approaching me. Why were there guys everywhere?

The lanky dude stopped in front of me. He gave me a weird and confused look, something in-between 'are you talking to me' and 'why are you here'.

"Hey, um, I can't read maps and I'm trying to find Coutod Hall, that's where my dorm is. Could you please point me the right direction?" I asked as nice as my words could be.

Lanky dude choked and sputtered. My eyebrows sank as I frowned.

Was everything okay?

"That's where your dorm is?" He asked, clearly surprised. "Not Gertrude or Clementine?"

I looked at the worked up sheet in my hand and looked up at him again.

"Yeah, that's what the paper says." I confirmed. "Is something wrong?" I asked.

He snatched the paper from my hands and ran his eyes back and forth at it's contents.

"Y-you can't be at Coutod Hall." He said, stuttering slightly, his eyes still skimming the sheet.

I placed my hand on the sheet and lowered it so he can look at me.

"Why?" I asked, slightly disturbed.

His brown eyes bored into mine.

"Because that's an all-male dorm."

I stared and waited, hoping he'd crack into fits of laughter and point me to towards the right direction.

But nothing, only the seriousness in the depths of his eyes.

Fuck me.

"Rook. That was what your form said." The Dean said.

"My name is Brook–lyn! There is a 'B' in front of 'rook' and where did the rest of my name go?" I exclaimed, trying not to cry out of frustration.

Alright so it was an all-male dorm after all. My name was messed up somehow in the admission process.

"I'm sorry Ms Dennis, we can't do anything about the situation now as of there are no space in the female dorms too." The Dean said.

Oh I see what you're doing. This cliché bullshit has to be a joke.

"Now let me guess, my roommate is a badboy isn't he? And he's violent and hot and blah, blah, blah." I said with a mirthless chuckle.

The Dean gave me an unimpressed look, clearly not amused.

"I'm sorry sir but I can't share a room with a man/boy." I gave him my point.

"I apologise for this misunderstanding Ms Dennis. We'll try to fix this."

"How long will it take?"

"For now, a month." He said and I heaved a sigh.

A month. Just one month. It can't be that bad.

"Alright sir," I nodded, having no other choice but to carry on with this.

I clearly can't do anything. I can't drive two hours everyday to come to school and two hours back everyday just because I've been placed temporarily in the male dorm or else, I would've drove from home everyday.

But I won't share a room with the guy in room 223 like my key tag says. I sense something fishy in that room.

"But I have a request sir." I blurted out before it was too late.

The Dean raised a questioning eyebrow at me.

"What is that Ms Dennis?"

I smiled sweetly and gave him my request.

"I'm gonna ask you again. Are you sure you don't want to change your room again? There are a few more spaces in the male dorms–"

"Shut it Andrew, I know why I changed dorms. Don't you read books? All these cliché shit happens when you just give in to the dorm you're given, believe me. I can feel that this dorm is the one for me and my roommate won't be an ass." I cut off lanky dude as he repeated for the thirteenth time since we left the Dean's office.

I learnt his name was Andrew Kirst but he prefers to be called Drew, apparently he's in the admission process too. He had been asking me the same question over and over again for some reason, trying to make me change my mind.

I slip my key through the keyhole and room 198 clicks open. I hold my breath as I pushed my body and luggage inside the room.

I was expecting to see a messy side of the room my roommate was occupying and heaps of used condoms but I was actually surprised to find everything cleaned up. The bed was made to perfection at the left side of the room, everything was kept in order.

I let out a breath of relief and trudged inside.

"What'd I tell you, my roommate is a clean freak. Clearly not any sign of trouble."

He sighed and massaged his temple with his fingers.

"You would've loved dorming with Brandon." He muffled under his breath. "Believe me, you wouldn't want to stay with your roommate. You're pushing yourself into the wrong route of life!"

I shrugged and flopped on my unmade bed, a clear sign that I didn't give a shit.

"Well, good luck Brooklyn. Cause you're gonna need it." Andrew said before walking away.

I smiled at myself before getting to work, unpacking. I took forever but I did just right. It was nearly midnight and my roommate wasn't back yet. Not that I cared but I found it odd.

I had just taken a shower, I almost kissed the floor when I discovered I didn't have to share the bathroom with the whole male population. I had just slipped on my pyjamas and cuddled into my soft bedding when the door to my room started jingling. A fair click was heard before the door opened.

I didn't get to see my roommate's face when he got in, but I knew from his outline that he was really built. He got me wondering if he was lost or something. I never get to meet hot guys.

I sat up in bed, ready to introduce myself to my roommate but it seemed like my movements caught his attention.

He face turned to me and through the dark, I heard him sigh.

"Heather, I told you, you can't move in with me. My dick doesn't go through the same hole twice!" His unsurprisingly deep voice said in a lazy tone.

My jaw slacked and I froze momentarily. My hands immediately flew to the switch to my bedside lamp and I switched it on.

"Excuse you Dwayne Johnson," I gasped feeling insulted. "Whoever Heather is, I am not her! I'm your roommate!"

He gave me a passive look.

"Yeah, right. My new roommates girlfriend. Where's Rook then?"

I heaved and my nose flared.

"I am Rook! There was a mistake in my admission form, my name is B-rook–lyn Dennis!"

He stopped and stared for a solid minute, that was when I had a reaction from the douchebag.

He immediately discarded his keys on his bedside table and fished out his phone from his pockets scrolling through what seemed to be his contacts before tapping on one.

Who was he calling in this ungodly hour?

I could tell it was on speaker from the way it rang loudly. After a few rings, the person at the other end picked.

"Hello Art?" A male voice came. A cool collected voice I was sure I had heard earlier.

"Hello, Drew? Why the fuck is my roommate a girl?"

"Sorry man, there was a slight problem. We'll fix it in a month." Andrew said, not even a hint of sleep in his voice. "I tried to warn the girl though but don't get mad, I'll explain this to you tomorrow. I gotta go."

And with that the line went off.

He just stared at his phone in exasperation, his hair that was a rough mix of blonde and brown strands kept falling down his face falling into his eyes.

I would've taken my time to admire his beauty but I was too furious to do so. Instead I huffed and switched off my lamp, throwing my covers over my head and tried to angry sleep.

I heard shuffling sounds from the other side of the room and the sound of a belt hitting the floor.

After a short moment of silence I heard his phone ring and the person at the other end didn't miss a beat before picking up.

"Hello badboy." A sultry voice purred into the phone and I rolled my eyes.

"Hey Tiffany, video sex?" His deep voice said, his question more like an order.

There was a two second silence before a loud squeal followed, answering his question.

My eyes widen and my anger contorted into mortification.

What have I gotten myself into!
