Philippine University is the most preferred school of college students in the Philippines. Every school year, there are estimated 500,000 enrollees. How is that possible?
The Philippine University provide the most efficient learning materials in the country. Aside from that, students will no longer worry about their research for the school also provides a free wifi for the students. The library, on the other hand, contain thousands and thousands of books that can also be used as a reference for the exact topic discussing by the professors.
Another reason why Philippine University is being chosen by the students is that, it's a free tuition for those really hardworking students― students who make it to the honor lists.
"Next week is the examination week, but I haven't submitted my project, yet," Franchesca said worriedly.
"You can finish it this week, I'll help you," comforted by her cousin, Trisha.
"Yeah, but that's not the problem. I don't have money anymore to buy the materials. I already spent them on my other projects." Her face looks so devastated.
"Chesca, relax! I still have money left from my salary, I'll lend it to you, okay?" Trisha gave her a reassuring smile.
"Thank you, Trish! Don't worry, I'll pay it immediately when I receive my salary next month." Chesca hugged her cousin because of happiness.
"Hush now, we're gonna late for our class, see you later!" Trisha said reminding about their class.
"Oh yeah!"
The two girls bid their goodbye then part their ways in the opposite direction. Franchesca feel as if a thorn has been pulled out from her chest. All her worries were gone, thanks to her cousin.
Franchesca Perez, 18 years old, taking up Bachelor of Science in Architecture. She's an honor student from kindergarten to first year college. This school year, she's also a candidate. She's the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Perez. She left her town to continue her studies here in Philippine University. Currently, she's renting an apartment in the city along with her cousin. She's also working as a part time cashier in a caféteria.
Trisha Aguilar, 18 years old, taking up Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Like Franchesca, she's also an honor student from kindergarten to first year college. This school year, she's also a candidate. Both of them are really hardworking because they came from a not-well to do family. They have to work after their class to support their studies so that they won't ask financial support from their parents more often.
Franchesca reached their room just in time. Most of her classmates like her for her being hardworking and nice. But there's this one girl who hates her so much for some unknown reason.
"Can you give me a cup of coffee?" Nicole mocked at her.
This is the daily routine of Nicole. Whenever Franchesca arrives at their room, Nicole will walk to her chair just to mock her. Well, all of her classmates knew that she works in a caféteria but it's only Nicole and her friends are the only people in their room who's making fun of her because of that.
Franchesca just ignore her and open her book for their first subject instead. But Nicole was too persistent. She don't like being ignored. She sits on the book on Franchesca's table and gave her a triumphant look while chewing a gum.
Franchesca exhaled in frustration. "What do you want, Nicole?" she asked.
"What do I want? I want you to disappear in this school!" Nicole answered giving her a mean look.
"Can you just give me peace? I'm trying to study," Franchesca said not minding what Nicole said.
"Girls!" Nicole's friend gave her something.
She was about to pour the thing on Franchesca's head when one of their classmate interfere.
"Nicole, what are you doing?" She was interrupted when their classmate spoke.
"Oh, hi Hiro," Nicole greeted showing her sweetest smile.
"What are you doing?" he asked again.
"Nothing. I'm just having a little chitchat with Franchesca, right Franchesca?"
Franchesca just ignore her and continue studying when Nicole left her table.
"You alright?" Hiro asked behind her.
Actually no, but I have to, she thought. "Yes," she said simply.
"I'm sorry about her. She keeps bugging you everyday," Hiro apologized.
Franchesca stopped reading on hearing Hiro's words. "Nicole didn't apologize for her doings, how come you did?"
"'Cause I know Nicole won't do that." He sighed.
"It's fine." She went back reading.
Few moments later, their professor arrived and discuss their new lesson. She was intently listening when a piece of paper landed on her table. She looked around their room to see where it came from. She saw Nicole looking on her direction, glaring. What's with her again? She thought. She open the crampled paper.
"Stop flirting with Hiro, slut!" she reads.
"What?!" She looked at Nicole's direction confusingly but the girl keeps glaring at her.
Franchesca just crampled the piece of paper again and tried to ignore her.
"That girl is really crazy," she whispered to herself.
She's focusing on their topics when suddenly, another crampled paper landed on her table again. She glanced at Nicole's direction and open the paper.
"Well, even if you do, he won't get attracted. After all, you're no match for me, slut!"
"Seriously? What's her problem?" Franchesca just crampled the paper again and just focus on the topic instead.
"Is she bugging you again?" Hiro asked few minutes later.
"Huh?"
"Nicole. Is she bugging you again?" Hiro asked again while looking at the whiteboard.
"Uh, it's nothing. Don't mind it," she said without glancing on her back.
The discussion continues. Fortunately, Nicole stopped sending her messages through crampled paper. That girl get tired, finally, she thought.
"Goodbye class, see you on Wednesday." Their professor erases the writings on the whiteboard then exit the classroom.
Nicole walks towards her direction. "I'm warning you, slut," Nicole said in a low voice then went on to Hiro.
Franchesca exhaled in frustration again for she has no idea what Nicole is talking about.
"Why do I have to have a crazy classmate?" she whispered to herself then turn the pages of her notebook for their next subject. She diverted her attention on her notes instead and try to study.
