Keia stopped her car behind the cabin of her friend's brother-in-law. She was about to get out of the car when the heavy rain suddenly fell.
Luck is really pissed with me. She thought.
If she only loved to swear, her crisp cusses would probably have echoed on the mountain earlier. With the series of misfortunes that befell her life, she should have anticipated the imminent setbacks she will experience as she heads to that private cabin in the mountainous town of Tagaytay.
Her first misfortune that day was that her car, which was given to her by her cousin on her twenty-second birthday, stopped. Fortunately, she somehow knew how to repair that machine.
Second is the laptop in her house. She only noticed that when she was almost halfway through the trip. She returned to her house because it was useless for her to leave without the main ingredient of her mountaineering.
And her third misfortune, the pet carrier lost the cat that her ex boyfriend gave her who was also looking for a boyfriend. To make matters worse, Lizzy the cat plays hide and seek in the wide parking lot of a bus stop before spontaneously returning to her car when she got tired.
And now, a heavy rain greeted her. She still has a long way to go before she reaches the front of the cabin. She didn't have an umbrella and she had a lot of things she needed to carry. The footpath was not paved towards the cabin door so aside from the muddy ground, water also accumulated in her walk.
"Argh! Why did I agree with your suggestion Aston? Gosh! If I only knew that this is your idea of a relaxing place, I would have just dived into the Celebes Sea and not gone up," she said irritated.
Her friend just wanted to help her so he offered her the cabin of his brother-in-law Michael Galvez. How it allowed the man to invade his shack, she doesn't know. As Aston told her, that was the most effective medicine for having a writers block.
The scenery and people living in the small town that occupies the cabin is inspiring. Aston's brother-in-law allegedly built it for vacation when he returned to the Philippines from permanent residence in Canada.
It is said to be an effective hideaway if he wants to escape the stressful atmosphere of city life.
And because it is said to be difficult to reach, it is certain that she will not be easily followed there by the naughty and persuasive family of her ex-fiancé Miguel and her family as well.
"Gosh Miguel! If you didn't still admit everything when I return to the city, I myself will going post on facebook all of your pictures wearing my thongs and lingeries," she said annoyed as if she was just facing her ex-boyfriend.
She remembered his plea when she discovered his secret. He dramatically cried in front of her. He said she should not tell all their acquaintances about the real reason for the discontinuation of their marriage.
He is really crazy! She thought.
He said that she must give him enough time first to accumulate courage before he admits that their marriage couldn't continue because she caught him with someone who's the same lust standing when he urinated.
Maybe it would be easier for her to accept what happened to their relationship if it replaced her with a woman with bigger boobs than hers and Nikki Minaj-like ass in size. But no, she was replaced with a man who's more appealing than his ex boyfriend. A man who looks like a pornstar and makes steroids gossip. Honestly, she is also ashamed to brag to other people that he traded her for a macho man and not for a sexy one.
Even though the sermons of their respective families chopped them up and accused her of acting stagy, she just accepted all of it. Because despite her resentment and anger towards Miguel for cheating and using her to cover up his green secret, it still weighs on her heart. She still loves him.
Before they became boyfriends, they were friends. Their families are neighbors. If he is not killed by his father and uncles who are all in the ranks of the police and the AFP, they will surely reject him when they find out his true identity.
She sighed and decided to leave. She ran quickly to the door of the cabin carrying the key that Aston had given her. If she only knew it was muddy at the back of the cabin, she would have parked there in the front but the backyard was closer to the street she crossed that's why she parked there.
She opened the door. Using the penlight hanging on her key ring, she searched for the fuse box that Aston said was inside one of the cabinets in the dirty kitchen that it also served as the laundry area. When she saw the fuse box, she immediately turned it on and then flicked the kitchen light switch.
She regretted that she didn't know how to whistle when the beautiful interior of the cabin was exposed to her. It was an interesting fusion of modern and old-fashioned design. The wooden furniture in the living room, dinning room and kitchen room is vivid in the eyes.
It feels so good to sit on a long and very soft white sofa and armchairs. There is also a Persian rug lying in front of the fireplace. That fireplace is not real. Only images of fire can be seen there. Michael said he was just assuming that so he still felt that it was in his log cabin in canada.
She excitedly toured the entire cabin. She went up to the second floor. There are two rooms and a spacious mezzanine that serves as an entertainment room. There is also a large flatscreen TV and state-of-the-art sound system. The DVD and CD bullets there were huge. Most of them are action movies.
But the different types of CDs are insane. There are country, rock, blues, classical, jazz and OPM love songs. All that matters is pop and K-pop. Aston's brother-in-law also seems to know how to play a musical instrument. In fact, in front of the framed black and white photos is hanging on one side of the wall an electric guitar. She went downstairs and looked for an umbrella inside the stockroom. When she saw it, she picked it up and hurried out and ran back to her car. Lizzy's pet carrier was the first one she brought into the cabin because the queen cat was already raging inside it. She took it out to the carrier and served cat food in its feeding bowl.
"There you go, dear queen! Huh, I don't know why I still put up with you. Your attitude is really inherited from your former boss, too bossy!" she stared at the cat instead of giving her a grateful look she stared at her as if accusing.
She returned to the car and picked up her canned goods and cup noodles at the supermarket an hour away from the cabin. She doesn't know how to cook so she only bought canned and cup noodles. As much as her Mommy taught her to cook, she only perfected boiled eggs and cooked cup noodles.
After placing all the groceries in the kitchen cabinet, she went upstairs to the room she was going to use. She felt dirty with dirt so she decided to take a bath. Carrying towels, bathrobe, shampoo, conditioner, liquid soap and some other toiletries, she went to the bathroom in the masters bedroom.
