  Chapter One

  November, 14, 2016. 9:20pm, London.

In a maze of dark and quiet express road, a bloody and barefoot woman desperately attempts to escape a mysterious hooded man who slowly follows after her. She grips tightly the freshly cooked Chinese meal enclosed in boxes, wrapped by silk material. Behind her is her car, wrecked by the mysterious man after her life.

Meanwhile, Detective Sean Ruis and his fellow colleagues are on a stakeout, but when they see their target arrive, a group of gangsters they have been investigating. Sean decides it’s not worth biding for a back-up.

Instead, their team will take down the rowdies. His phone rings — it’s his wife, he answered his phone, but couldn't hear what his wife was saying cause of a network outage, he hung up and tosses his phone aside so he and his men can defy the malefactors. "I will call her back" he said.

The scared woman, walked to a deserted road, and finds an abandoned tavern. She runs inside to hide. The terrified and bloody woman is Sean's wife, and because he couldn't understand a thing she was saying. she then calls the emergency center. Natalie Springfield answers. The killer followed her to the abandoned building. Sean's wife told Natalie that someone is trying to kill her, after hearing this, Natalie told her supervisor, he then asks her to transfer the call to him.

They try to get the woman to give a detailed description of where she is so they can send help, but the call is dropped, because of the network outage. The supervisor orders Natalie to call the woman back, but she hesitates, "someone is trying to kill her, what if he hears the phone rings" these thoughts ran through Natalie mind. Natalie then responded to her supervisor that its not a good idea to call the woman back. Annoyed, her supervisor hits the dial-back button on Natalie's desk and the sound of the woman’s phone ringing alerts the mysterious man to where his victim is hiding.

Whispering into the phone, she begs Natalie to save her, but then freezes when she glimpses the mysterious attacker nearby. She leaves her hiding spot, slowly making her way in the abandoned tavern only to be tackled by the black hooded man. The woman falls down and lies helpless on the ground, crying as she begs her attacker "please do not kill me, my children are waiting for me at home".

Annoyed by what she said, the hooded man frowned and said "you shouldn’t have upset me, why did you go digging what has been buried". He put his hand inside the pocket of his hood as he pulls out a small gun with metal bullet, and shot the woman all over her face.

Meanwhile, Natalie was listening and she heard the murderer's voice. She is shocked after she hears the woman being shot to death by the killer. A patrol officer Ken Springfield, Natalie's brother. Who is close to the area, hears gunshots and went to the crime scene. When the patrol officer got to the area, he calls Natalie through the emergency center. He tells Natalie that he is at the crime scene but Natalie begs him to wait for backup. " if I wait for backup we might lose the culprit " Natalie brother tells her. But Natalie insists on him waiting for backup. He waited around a little but got impatient and decided to search the area, before entering the tavern. He then found Sean's wife dead on the ground and he saw a mysterious man. He chases after the man. When the mysterious ran to the backyard of the tavern, Natalie's brother ran after him, but he lost him. Suddenly he appears from behind and he shot at Natalie's brother. Natalie starts to scream at the call center, she was held and consoled by the other call center agents. The whole details from that incident only Natalie knows.

At same time else where, after a successful takedown of the gang, Sean and his team celebrate over a congratulatory dinner and drinks at their favorite bar. He then gets a call from fellow colleague Colby Kanel who worriedly told Sean that his wife is wounded, asking him to come to the hospital. He laughs off the younger man’s request, instead inviting him to join them for a drink.

But Colby tells him that he’s at a crime scene of a woman who was shot after an attempted rape, and they found Sean’s wife’s ID in the woman’s car. Sean still thinks it’s all a joke, pointing out that Colby knows what his wife looks like and can recognize her that way. Except not this time — the killer destroyed her face with his metal bullet so that it’s unidentifiable.

Still laughing it off, Sean calls his wife anyway, convinced it will prove that Colby is worried about nothing. As the phone rings and rings and no one picks up, Sean gradually starts to get worried.

He staggers his drunken way to the hospital. Special Crimes Unit from the MPS department Chief Rey Salmons is devastated about what happened. He tries to hold Sean as he caught him on sight, but Sean fights him off, falling down near a piece of paper that fell from Rey's hand which his wife wrote for him— "did you forget today is our anniversary? I love you my detective".

Sean fights his way to the room which his wife is in. Covered in a black sheet used for dead bodies, the doctor had pronounced her dead about three minutes before Sean's arrival. Recognizing the tattoo on her wrist, he continues to believe that it’s still all just a joke, he then takes a deep breath but he literally falls down shattered, he sees her cold and bloody knees, realization begins to set in.

The next morning, the news is abuzz with information about the brutal murder, with many blaming the incompetency of the emergency call center for the woman’s death.

Later, a despondent and shattered and depressed Sean stood in front of his wife’s grave, about to be buried, as the priest is praying. While Colby stands right next to Sean. Sean's team from the MPS arrive to pay their respects, and also to let him know they’ve found the murderer: a man named James Hammington, who was found with Sean’s wife’s blood on his clothes.

Sean blames himself, for his wife's death. If he had been home more often instead of working so hard to pay the bills, she wouldn’t have felt the need to deliver him food and be out that night in the first place. Even so, with a dangerous gleam in his eye, he promises that if James Hammington ever gets out of prison, he’ll kill him. Colby walks to Sean and told him that the date scheduled for the hearing of his wife's case is next Wednesday.
