Chapter 1

"Wake up!" Coby yelled and bounced up and down on the bed, you wouldn't have thought he was a twenty eight year old man. He acted more like a child. I ignored his childishness and pulled the duvet over my head. "Chris come on!" He tried to drag the duvet off the bed but my strength was no match for him and he fell into the mirror shattering it.

"Seven years bad luck," I said sitting up and looking at him. Blood filled my nostrils he ran to the bathroom to wash the blood away, I leapt up and followed him. "How bad is it?" He showed me his hand, it was only a shallow cut. I gently lifted his hand to my mouth and I licked the excess blood till it stopped bleeding, he was a little squeamish and I often had to deal with all his little accidents, especially if it included blood.

"So what do we have planned tonight?" He asked leaning his back against the sink, his lean arms crossed over his chest.

"I was wondering if you wanted to see a movie?" I asked, his smile dropped. "What?"

"I'd rather not go back to work, considering I've been there most of the day," he walked towards me and placed his hands in the back pockets of my jeans pulling me toward him.

"Okay. How about that sweet little restaurant near the sea?" I asked, his cheeky smile reappeared.

"You can't eat human food," he reminded me.

"So? We'll do what we usually do, you eat my food for me and we switch plates once yours is empty," I replied and pecked his lips.

"Okay The Seafarers it is, get ready," he said and pushed me toward the shower.

"Yes sir," I smiled undressing and walking into the shower. The water was very warm and refreshing. I walked into the bedroom with my owl towel wrapped around my waist, Coby was sat down and used my mirror that he had enchanted for me to brush his black shoulder length curls. "You're worse than me." He jumped where he sat.

"I swear I'm going to buy you a collar with a bell on it," he said swivelling around to face me.

"I told you, just because I can shift into a black cat, doesn't mean I am one," I said.

"I know," he said, pecked me on the cheek and walked down the stairs. "Half an hour!" He called as he walked down the stairs. I huffed a laugh and got ready pulling on my black lace dress and heels. I wore my usual makeup with a bit of added glitter and my long lilac hair I wore loose no need for heat with the natural beach waves I was born with. I grabbed my pumpkin handbag and made my way down. I caught Coby looking at himself in the mirror. I paused and coughed on the steps.

"What?" He asked.

"Nothing," I replied.

"Ready?" He asked picking up his car keys out of the bowl, I nodded. We made our way to the car and with one turn of the key, we were on our way. He had tinted windows that protected me from the sun if we were to travel in the day but we had no reason to yet. "Why here tonight? Is it because of the full moon?"

"No, it's because I met you here when things were falling apart for you," I reminded him placing my hand on his knee. He smiled but kept his eyes on the road.

"I didn't realise vampires were sentimental," he said.

"We're not usually," I replied. It wasn't long till we parked up and we were walking down the decked path to the restaurant. We were taken to our usual table which was right next to the sea, the sound of the waves always was relaxing and calming for us. We started with a glass of wine, only I poured the blood from my flask into the wine glass hoping no one noticed.

"Is that the last of the stuff in the fridge?" He asked.

"No," I replied taking a sip and placed the glass down onto the table, "I have three more." Our fingers intertwined across the table and the rays of the moon bathed us in her light. Our food came quickly. I played with it making it look like I was eating but as soon as Coby finished his we swapped plates.

"Do you miss human food?" He asked. I shook my head.

"Not really, after four hundred years you forget what it tasted like," I said and took another sip of blood, it was pure, virginal and the rarest blood type around. After we finished our meal we took a stroll along the beach, I carried my heels in one hand while the other was wrapped tightly around Coby's. We sat near the edge of the water and let the water wash around our feet, I rested my head on his shoulder and smiled.

"Are you..." I cut him off.

"Stop asking me if I'm cold, I'm dead," I chuckled and pecked his cheek.

"I'm sorry, it's a habit," he said and pulled me down onto the sand. He kissed me deeply, I nipped his lips making them bleed. It didn't bother him as he kept kissing me, I snaked my fingers into his hair and licked the blood from his bottom lip. He sighed and tried to pull the sleeve of my dress over my shoulder.

"Not on the beach," I said pushing him gently off me, he pined like a hurt puppy and collapsed next to me. Together we watched the stars together till dawn made itself present.
