Chapter 1

There are many people in the world that would love to get into the entertainment industry, and have been trying hard to get into. It is a hard business to get into, and it is a hard business being in with all the shade being thrown and endless games of He Said, She Said.

The only way to get through it is to try your best not starting any drama, which can be extremely hard because even a very simple sentence that means absolutely nothing can set people off.

I always tried to just go on my own way and try not to start drama. I didn't want to be playing tiring games of Who's Telling The Truth because most of the time, people just believed what they wanted to hear.

I ended up getting caught in a game anyway, all because of the person I decided to date and I couldn't get out of the relationship until she was working on a project in another country.

I turned the radio on as I drove home close to midnight in the pouring rain from a very tiring day at the studio. Because of all the rumours Waverly was spreading, I would have been fired from the movie if we hadn't already been far into filming. I could only imagine that this was going to get even harder for me.

As soon as I recognized the song that was playing, I sighed and leaned my head back on the seat. She was everywhere and I didn't think I would ever get away from it.

Thankfully, the song was just ending so I wouldn't have to go three minutes in the car listening to my ex's new hit single. Though, if it wasn't just ending, I could have just turned off the radio.

"And that was Waverly Phipp's newest hit single," the radio DJ said. "Rumour has it, it's about her ex—boyfriend, Dylan Ferris. That's right, Waverly Phipps and Dylan Ferris's five—year relationship has come to a bitter end. What's even more shocking is the reason why. We caught up with Waverly earlier and here is her response."

The DJ's voice was replaced with Waverly's manipulative voice, as I liked to call it. She always had a sweet and soft tone.

She had the complete opposite when she was away from the spotlight.

"It was just a very....toxic relationship," Waverly said. "People may have thought that we were the so—called perfect couple because we had been together for so long, but they weren't seeing what was happening behind the scenes, you know? We were only together for so long because I was scared to get out of the relationship. He was emotionally and at times physically abusive. I was scared to leave, and it took me the courage to finally end the relationship, but that was only because I was off filming in Brooklyn and he was in Vancouver."

I couldn't believe her.

Actually, I could believe her. I just couldn't believe everyone was immediately assuming Waverly was telling the truth. They didn't even bother listening to my side of the story, but even if they did, I had a feeling Waverly would be the one people believed. My story, the true story, was the complete opposite.

I was currently driving close to an alleyway with not too many cars driving by. In fact, it seemed like I was the only car on the road, which was the main reason I always took this route. I used to take the main one, but some drivers would recognize me, mainly the paparazzi, and try following me home.

Because of the heavy rain, there were deep puddles between the road and the sidewalk. I ended up accidentally driving into one of the puddles, creating a huge splash. I looked through the window and ended up seeing the splash hit a girl walking on the sidewalk.

I quickly slammed on my breaks and turned off my car before getting out and going over to the girl, who was now soaking wet, and it didn't help that she was already walking in the rain without an umbrella.

She looked like she was a few years younger than me. She had bright blue eyes, and shoulder length blonde hair. All that was with her was a backpack.

"I am so sorry!" I said. "I didn't see you and I definitely didn't even mean to drive in that puddle. Do you need a ride?" She shook her head. "Are you sure? It's pouring out and I really wouldn't mind. Do....do you even have a place to go?" She hesitated before shaking her head. "Do you want to stay at my place for the night and get things sorted out in the morning?"

She didn't reply. She just stared at me, and then shrugged.

"Or I can take you to a hotel," I offered. "Whatever you want."

She still didn't reply, but she did pull out her phone and attempted to type in it, but it was too difficult with the pouring rain. She kept wiping the raindrops off of her phone, only to get more raindrops less than a second after.

She sighed and pointed to her throat, and it didn't take me long to guess what she was trying to say. "You can't talk?" I guessed and she nodded. "Okay, come into my car so you can type what you want on your phone, okay?"

She nodded, so I led her to my car and opened the passenger door for her. After she was in, I closed it and got to the driver's side. She was already typing into her phone when I closed the driver's door. She soon handed her phone over to me and I read the message that was on there.

I don't have any money for a hotel and I don't know how long I would need to stay.

"Do you want to stay at my place?" I asked. "I have a guestroom that you could use." She still seemed a bit hesitant, and I didn't blame her. I was a complete stranger, and if she did know me, she probably heard about the rumours Waverly spread.

I handed her phone back and she typed in another message before showing it to me. It wouldn't bother you?

"No, not at all," I said. "You need a place to stay, and I feel really bad for spraying you with that puddle. So, you want to stay for a bit?"

She nodded and typed another message, this one saying thank you.

"No problem," I said before starting up the car again, which turned on the radio. And the radio was still playing the interview with Waverly. People were eating this crap up.

"And that was when you broke up with him?" the DJ asked.

"Yes, that was when I broke up with him," Waverly said. "My best friend assured me that it would be the best with him being in Vancouver, and me being in Brooklyn. I was scared, but I got it done, and I couldn't feel happier."

I quickly turned off the radio before continuing my drive back home. The rumours haven't already been going around for two days and I could feel my life falling apart.

The girls was typing something into her phone before letting an automated voice say what she had typed. "I don't believe Waverly."

I furrowed my eyebrows. "You don't?"

She shook her head and typed some more. "She seems too perfect, and why would she wait until she was in Brooklyn to break up with you? She was in Paris two weeks ago, and that's in another continent."

"At least someone isn't taking her side," I said. Not everyone did. A lot of my fans were constantly tweeting me and commenting on my Instagram photos, saying they didn't believe her and they wanted to hear my side.

Too bad I wasn't going to say my side. There was no point. Waverly had an image of the sweetest celebrity ever. If I told them the truth, they weren't going to believe me.

The girl typed another message into her phone, then letting the automated voice talk. "So, she is lying? Why haven't you defended yourself?"

"Who's going to believe me?" I asked. "Celebrities get into these stupid back and forth games all the time and I don't want to get involved with that. People believe what they want to believe and ignore even the slightest indication that what they're believing in is false. They want to think their idols are angels and can do no wrong. It's okay, I guess. I'm used to this behaviour from her."

The girl didn't type anything else. She just put her phone back into her pocket.

I soon pulled into the driveway of my house and turned off the car before we got out. I led her to my house and unlocked the door, then opened it and let her walk inside first. She took off her shoes and looked around while I closed the door and looked it behind me.

My house wasn't huge like most people may expect a celebrity to have. I didn't need a large space anyway. It was big enough to fit two bedrooms, two washrooms, a small office, a room for my musical instruments, a kitchen, a living room, and a laundry room.

"What's your name, by the way?" I asked as I took off my shoes.

She took out her phone and typed it in before showing it to me. Braelyn.

"Braelyn," I repeated. "That's a beautiful name." She smiled only a tiny bit at that. "Here, let me show you around."

I first led her to the living room, since it was closest, then to the kitchen. I told her she was welcomed to eat whatever she wanted from the kitchen whenever she wanted and if she ever wanted something specifically, she could just tell me. Well, write it somewhere and show me.

Beside the kitchen was the door to the music room, which I told her about before leading her upstairs. The door closest to the stairs was my bedroom, so I showed her further down the hallway to where the guestroom and its bathroom was.

"And....You need clothes," I said, gesturing her to follow me to my bedroom. "I don't have any female clothes since I'm a guy, obviously, so I hope you don't mind wearing clothes a lot bigger than you." I opened the top drawer and grabbed a pair of pajama shorts and an extra t—shirt before handing them to her. "If you need anything, just come here."

Braelyn nodded and gave me another tiny smile as if to say thank you before heading off to the guestroom. I then closed the door and got changed into my pajamas before plugging in my phone and setting it on the nightstand, then turning off the lights and laying down in bed.

I was very exhausted from today on set, especially because I was almost fired. If I was close to being fired, I wondered if I was even going to be hired for any jobs with the rumours going around.

I should have gotten out of the relationship sooner to avoid this drama, but that was next to impossible.
