In the age before the lords of Reinbulaket became distorted with greed, the people lived in peace. Farms flourished, precious gems and gold were mined and all of the villages were safe. Reinbulaket had no boarders, all could travel to any part of the world and no matter how far one travelled; the great Mount Vuorius could be seen. Its black high peaks visible from the ocean and beyond.
The mountains’ rock was impenetrable which made the lords believe that the mountain contained immeasurable treasures beneath its depths. The lords ordered four thousand men to mine day and night for 5 years, despite the hammering and digging not a single rock was split. Impatient, the lords summoned evil sorcerers to break the mountain open. An evil spell was cast, Mount Vuorius quaked and a tunnel appeared at its base. A putrid toxic gas spewed from the entrance and those who were too close instantly died, inhaling the fumes which burned them from the inside out. What came next was far more frightening, creatures of old, too strange to describe, to evil to speak of – the Ahasmurt.
The Ahasmurt killed the adults but ate the children. It was a mystery to all why it was the children that they most craved. Many hid where they could; taking their children into caves and covering them with grass and foliage to protect them from the terrible hunger of the Ahasmurt.
The men who were brave enough to fight formed armies, trying to kill the Ahasmurt, however they soon discovered that they were shape shifters, even taking on the form of humans and thus to defeat them, the people would need a greater power. On their knees they begged for help and then from the blue sky above appeared twelve four winged creatures, the Sauvermoten, white and glorious, came to fight the Ahasmurt.
The Sauvermoten were angels, with 4 wings covered in eyes they were fierce to behold, glowing and powerful with kind soft words they spoke, like the wind in a whisper. They could see into the souls of people and knew the intentions of every creature. Many people rallied together to fight with them, including a blacksmith named Annania.
A war raged on for months and in that time, the blacksmith, Annania and the Sauvermoten captured one of the Ahasmurt. The Sauvermoten could see the mind of the Ahasmurt they had captured and knew that the evil lords and sorcerers planned to trap the Sauvermoten in Mount Vuorius.
The Sauvermoten saw a secret meeting which took place between the Ahasmurt, the lords and the sorcerers. The lords and sorcerers were selfish and afraid for their own lives and families. The Ahasmurt promised them that should they give the Ahasmurt the food they craved they would give the sorcerers and lords long life and power. They decided to use all of their power and influence to trap the Sauvermoten.
The Sauvermoten did not believe they had the power to do such a thing, however, Annania insisted that, should this happen they needed to plan a way in secret to free the Sauvermoten.
The Sauvermoten agreed to assist Annania to craft four secret keys, which could open Vuorius should they be captured. Annania crafted the keys and hid them in the heart of the mountain. As fate would have it, the plans of the evil Ahasmurt, sorcerers and lords came to fruition and they trapped the Sauvermoten in Vuorius.
To control the world, and ensure that the lords could provide children for the Ahasmurt to consume, the world of Reinbulaket was divided into 4 lands with Mount Vuorius in the middle of the world. Taiga the snow lands, Mahana, the tropical lands, Creslants, the grasslands and Jarvi, the lake lands. Huge walls of rock were crafted with the power of the sorcerers and the Ahasmurt, they were too high and slippery to climb, the walls cut the land into 4 and in addition the walls closed out the sea.
Each of the 4 lands weather was controlled by the sorcerers and each provided commodities which were secretly moved amongst the four lands in tunnels under the walls. The lords appointed 4 evil kings to oversee the distribution of food and coin, controlling every aspect of the lives of all peoples in each of the four lands.
Before Annania died he hid the 4 keys in each of the four lands and marked where they could be found. Annania created a map of where to find the keys in the hope that future generations may find them and free the Sauvermoten.
Two thousand years passed and on a cold snowy day at the deathbed of her grandmother one of the keys was given to Mavanywe of Taiga.
