Chapter 1

Kathleen slept late because she had stayed up late preparing for the next interview she would be having the next day. She was working towards getting a new job.

"Kath, wake up, it's seven in the morning." Lizzy's voice yodeled up the stairwell. Her eyes opened immediately she heard Lizzy's voice. The thought of her having an interview came to her memory and she quickly stood up.

"Fuck shit." Kathleen groaned as she leaped out of bed, she glanced at the alarm clock, six o'clock; the alarm had been going off for a whole hour and she has a job interview to get to at eight o'clock today.

"Hell no," Kathleen murmured as she jumped into the shower and two minutes later, jumped out of the shower and went to brush her teeth. She came out of the bathroom and go grabbed the outfit she prepared yesterday: a black skirt and a white silk shirt with a black suit jacket. She didn't put on any makeup, she just put on her earrings and her watch and jammed her feet into her shoes, she grabbed her purse and went out of her room to the kitchen.

Kathleen Snow lived with her college best friends, Lizzy Conner and Lora Dean. Lizzy works at Good Morning as one of their news anchors while Lora is a novel author. Kathleen marched into the kitchen, where Lizzy was sitting down scrolling through her phone with her right hand while using the other hand to dabble with a bow of chips and Lora was making sandwiches for breakfast.

"Hey Kath, I was about to come to wake you up," Lora said as she saw Kathleen. " I told you she held me," Lizzy said, her eyes still glued to her phone. She walked to the kitchen drawer. "Yeah, I couldn't ignore that." Kathleen began opening and closing the drawer as she looked for the coffee tin.

Kathleen turned around. "Where's the coffee tin." "We run out of coffee." Lora crossed her hand and stared at Lizzy. " Someone forgot to buy coffee when she went out to get groceries." On hearing Lora, Lizzy raised her head as she saw Kathleen and Lora staring at her. "There is a reason for that, Lora didn't give me a list of run-out groceries." Lora arched a brow. "You know I gave you the list. I dropped it on the counter for you." "Then I forget to take it with me," Lizzy said. "I saw you put the list in your purse before you left," Lora added. Lizzy straightened abruptly. "I forget to use the list while shopping." Lora snorted."Yes, you did." Lizzy retorted, "But I forget, everyone forgot things. "Yeah, I guess so," Lora said sarcastically as she took a bite of the sandwich she made.

Kathleen sighed resignedly. "Okay, fine I will buy a cup of coffee on my way to the place. Kathleen dug her hand inside her purse as she search for her glasses."Have any of you seen my glasses?" "No I haven't seen it," Lizzy said as she dropped her phone on the counter and focus on eating her chips. " Yes I did, I saw it on the counter when I entered the kitchen this morning." Lora turned to get the glasses from where she kept them. " just so you know, I cleaned them for you." Lora handed it over to Kathleen. Kathleen took it from her. "Awwn thanks, Lora." Kathleen wore her glasses. " Wish me, luck guys, I have to get going." Lora and Lizzy wished her luck as they saw her leave.

Kathleen walked into Sam's Breakfast Restaurant which was formally known as Sam Coffee Shop before Sam decided to expand his business. It has been Kathleen's favorite coffee shop ever since she and her friend moved to the area. As she entered, the early morning crew was busy cleaning up while others were answering some customers.

Kathleen stepped up to the counter. "What can I get you?" the waiter said. " Latte and extra milk." "Hey, Kath" Sam called as he walked toward her over the counter. "Hey Sam, how are you?" Kathleen said smiling. "Am fine, I see you get a job interview again" "Yes and I am running late." "Miss, here is your coffee." the waiter dropped the coffee on the counter and went ahead to answer other customers.

Kathleen brought out her purse to pay for the coffee. "Kath, the bill is on the house," Sam said stopping Kathleen from bringing out the money. "Really, thanks Sam this is the reason I like your restaurant." Sam laughed. Kathleen picked up her coffee and turned around as she made her to the entrance of the restaurant. As she was walking hurriedly, she bumped into a guy and spill her coffee on his suit. "Damn it, I am so sorry." Kathleen apologize as she brought out her napkin from her purse to help get the stain off his suit. He held up her hand, stopping her from cleaning the coffee stain. "No need to apologize, we both bumped into each other." "But the coffee stained your suit." " Nah I will grab a spare from home." Kathleen insisted, "What if I pay for the dry clean" He chuckled.

" What if we have we have coffee together." " What?" He chuckled again."let's have coffee together if you insist on making me feel better about the coffee stain on my site." "Ohh I am sorry I can't, I have a job interview to get to." "Ohh okay." Kathleen felt bad for turning down the nice stranger who was kind to her after she split her coffee on his expensive suit.

"What about lunch tomorrow," Kathleen suggested. He smiled. "Sure, we can have lunch at a testy cream restaurant, it is quite popular." "Yes, it is."

He held out his hand, "I am Tony, it's nice to meet you."

Kathleen shook his hand." Kathleen.".
