Chapter 1

Contract killing was easy as locate, load gun, and fire. That was until our client was a murderer himself. The world knows him as Geno. He kills for fun, and nothing more. One day, I was lounging around the office

yeah, the office

when my father ran into the room, panting and practically dying of excitement.

  "Joshua!"

"Dad," i said, trying my best to look bored.

"We have a client. He asked specifically for you."

  "Cool."

  "Joshua, it's Geno."

  "What about Geno?"

  "He's the client."

I stared at my father, realization hitting me like a bullet to the gut. Geno. He was here. The one responsible for at least 3 genocides. That's why we call him Geno. No one knows his real name. He's a mystery to everyone. Who could he want killed that he couldn't kill himself?

"Some stupid influencer keeps talking about how people need to get up off their buts and start doing something about the genocides, and people are listening. That's not very good for Geno's... Line of work."

  "Did you agree already dad?"

  "Of course I did!"

  "How much," I asked.

  "50,000 bucks son."

  "Seriously?!"

  "Yeah. You in?"

  "Am I?!"

I said, laughing. How could I not be? $50,000? That's enough! My father never knew, but Id been saving my money that I earned from these killing jobs for college. Maybe I told myself that one day I would get out of the job I've been in since age 13, but I doubt it. 10 years, and I'm just now getting enough money. What would I even major in?

"I'll send you the address tomorrow son. Get ready to go. I'll meet you out front at 6," my dad said, gesturing to the front door.

  "Yeah, okay."

Out front? Of our shack of an office? You'd think an office in Detroit, even the type of office we have, would look nicer then ours does. Nope. I went to my room in the back of the office. My bed sheets were crumpled up on the floor, like they always were. My walls were painted a shade of off-white that probably wasn't intentional. I had a desk, but it was dusty from lack of use. My partially packed suitcase sat on top of it, ready for another mission.

I started packing, wondering, what city would I be sent to now?
