Chapter 1

The roaring sound called from afar. I could hear it call for me like a siren. I knew that sound very well, it was rooted in my mind. I didn't think I would hear it or come upon it that unanciticipated night.

I was just at work, yawning and at the computer in my small stuffed office. Writing a report after report for the end of the semester. I had no plan to attend the campus bash unlike other normal students. I'd rather drown myself working for no reason at all other than to quench the need to be busy. Not caring about the all night long partying that the young people liked to do.

The student bash was the first of the year and was bound to be big as the new Student Representative Council was to show off its power. Every student was thrilled to attend it, hence there was no one at the office, except for the unexciting student assistant like Anne Singh, myself. Even my own name doesn't sync nor does it have a more interesting meaning to it.

The only exciting thing in my life was that I was a Performing Arts student aspiring to be a writer, and already working as a student assistant with an office in my second year of varsity. Crazy, right? I know, there's nothing exciting about it, except for the small paycheck that I didn't even know what I used for.

The sound I heard was not just a sound of a car engine, it was something else entirely. It made my ears twitch and my heart to beat faster with my veins pounding the adrenaline rush.

I gazed upon the time on the computer screen, it was five thirty in the afternoon. The mid Autumn sun hadn't set yet, it was going to be a long loud thrilling evening for the youngsters.

I looked back at the blank page on the screen with only the words, "Work Progress Report" on top. I don't know how long it took me to finish the first two events reports. I was left with two more; the students work progress report and the overall semester report, and I was already tired from the earlier rehearsals we had in preparation for class drama presentations. Who knew that the life of an overworking Art student could be so unexciting.

The roaring sounds became even more louder whenever I tried to type in something. It was like a distraction sent to disturb my content life. Finally deciding to take a break, I take my phone and text my cousin Mandy whom I knew was probably preparing for the bash if she wasn't already at the spinning show.

The previous year I had gone to watch the show with her. My cousin Mandy had always been involved in these campus activities. Whenever there was such events, she was sure to get VIP access and she'd have been my connection if I wanted that. Like when I wanted a better spot the last time, I knew that I had to go with her.

After waiting for her reply for almost half an hour, she sent t ne a voice note: "Hey, cuz. I'm actually still at my place.. But I'm about to go out to meet the bikers. Let me know if you wanna come, 'coz they're already here. Or you can meet me where there are spinning cars, the bikers will also be there."

The word bikers had my heart beating fast, and before I knew it I had already sent her a text saying that I was going to call her when I arrive at the spinning show.
