Chapter 1

Hi, I'm Alexandra Black. I come from one of the most powerful families globally. The Black family has always been known around the world for different things.

My grandmother, Hannah Black, was acknowledged as the best news reporter of her time while grandfather, Edward Black, was known for the best shoe making industry. My dad took over years later.

My mother, Jane Black, has written twelve bestsellers for the past nineteen years. I'm so proud of her. I have cousins who are into different things but have made it. I have a sister too. Naomi Black. She's one of the most paid models and even has her own line of cosmetics.

I love my family so much but sometimes being in such a family, is too much pressure. Everyone expects the best from you. I have tried so many things since I was a kid but I always got bored in a month or two.

Naomi knew that she wanted to be a model at three and since then, she never looked back. Everyone supported her and she grew confident as the years went by. At four, mum enrolled me in a ballet class but I would never get it right. I pushed a girl in class accidentally. She broke her arm and since then I never went back. I was banned.

When I was six, I tried modeling with Naomi but it was discovered that I had two left feet and I couldn't model to save myself.

At seven, my parents thought that maybe my talent lied in sports. So I joined the basketball team. Then the soccer team. Then the lacrosse team. But...

I was hopeless. And everyone gave up. I gave up too. Giving up made me concentrate on my studies. Nobody forced me to do anything since their eyes were on Naomi and I was perfectly fine with that.

There were times I missed my parents and sister but I understood. I supported her and even attended all events with her. But no one took notice of me. I wished I'd have that too. And I did. Just not in the way I expected.

Naomi's show has just ended when I receive a text from one of my best friends telling me to hurry to her. The text seems urgent and I called immediately thinking she was in some sort of trouble.

"Kelly?" I ask when she picks up but didn't speak.

"Alex!" She slurs excitedly making me roll my eyes. "Please pick me up." she says with a hiccup. "Diane ditched me. Again!" She slurred. Diane was the last piece to our trio since we were teenagers. She lives with Kelly in the same apartment after I moved out with my boyfriend of two years.

"Okay honey, just tell me where you are and stay put. I'll be there as soon as possible." Kelly mumbles some inaudible things as I walk to my car. "Kelly, I need you to tell me what you see. I explain slowly and she keeps quiet for some time."

"I can see a clothes store, a beautiful beautiful beautiful clothes store." She says in awe and I laugh amused already knowing where she is. It's the same club we love going to. 'Red Spot'. I tell her to hold on and not move then try calling my boyfriend, Sean who doesn't pick up. Must still be at work.

Sean and Kelly work at the same company as architects but are stationed at different floors. Sean specializes in the big industrial buildings while Kelly specializes in homes and stores. I leave a voicemail for Sean telling him that I'll cook dinner and that he should be there by seven just before I see Kelly sitting on the side of the road moving her hands frantically.

She stops when she sees me and walks to me upright as she sings along to her phone. I look at her in confusion as she enters the car innocently.

"You're not drunk?" I ask confused.

"No. But I need to show you something. It's something that I've been suspicious about but I just proved it." She says.

"What's happening Kels?" I ask still confused.

"Let's go to my apartment. Right now." She says and before I say or ask anything she stresses. "Now!" I start the car and drive to her place ten minutes away in six minutes. She gets out of the car and I follow her then follow her to the elevator.

None of us say anything. When we arrive to the front of her apartment, she stops and puts her ear against the door then shuts her eyes as if in pain.

"Kels? What's wrong?" I ask worried and she opens her eyes then looks at me muttering how sorry she is. "Open the door." I say suddenly curious. Why would she tell me sorry? She hugs me tight for about three seconds then lets go and opens the door.

We get into the small and cozy apartment and I look around trying to find anything suspicious but I find none. "What's gotten into you today?" I ask with a laugh before I hear a moan. I smile then look at Kelly mischievously. "Looks like someone's getting some today." I whisper excitedly before tears start rolling off Kelly's eyes.

"Hey, what's wrong?" I ask suddenly worried. Diane has been having a secret boyfriend for a while now and Kelly has been the most curious one here. This is our chance to know him. shouldn't she be excited?

" Fuck me daddy." Diane moans making my eyes widen but Kelly shuts hers even tighter.

"Hey, what's wrong?"

" Th...that's S..Sea"

"Oh fuck, baby!" A voice I know too well grunts making Kelly shut up. The concerned look on my face disappears leaving a disbelief and dreadful look. I move away from Kelly and sit straight then look at Diane's door blankly.

"People have the same voices. Right? I trust Sean and I love him. He loves me too." I tell Kelly but she doesn't stop crying.

"Alex sent a voicemail. I have to go back." The same voice says and my eyes don't move from the white door.

"We can book a hotel room today night." Diane says seductively.

"You know I can't. She'll get suspicious. You know how it is baby. I just have to get to her sister and our plan will succeed. Now I have to leave before your roomie comes."

"Yeah. If she sees you here, she'll run to dear Alex and we don't want that to happen now, do we?" Diane asks sweetly. Kelly and I don't say anything but our eyes don't stray from the door.

The door opens and I see Sean go back in then leans in to give Diane an open mouthed kiss. "I'll see you tomorrow baby." Every memory of me and Sean go through my mind as my heart breaks. my hands start shaking but I fist them trying to act nonchalantly.

"I'll be waiting daddy." They smile after a kiss and Sean stands then gets out of the room but freezes when he sees us.

"I missed you. Let's go home daddy." I say with a smile. Diane comes out of her room in a large shirt that I remember buying for Sean. Her eyes move from mine to Kelly in panic and I see her move behind Sean.

"Hey, best friend." I sarcastically say with a forced giggle and a little wave before turning and leaving.

"Alex..." Sean calls a little hesitantly and I shut my eyes for a brief second then turn to him with a smile.

"Yes daddy." I mock and I see him flinch. "We're getting late for dinner." I say sweetly before turning and continue walking to the elevator. No one says anything and I know they are all looking at me in shock.

"Hurry up. We'll be late." I say sweetly when I notice Sean is looking at me in worry and doubt. He follows me hesitantly and walks into the elevator.

"So where did you hide your car?" I ask casually.

Sean looks at me sceptically before answering. "Half a mile away from here." I nod then drive to where he directs me. When we arrive by the car I get out and tell Sean not to move from that seat and for the first time he notices how angry I am.

I walk to the trunk and take out the club that I put there in case of emergencies. Sean bought it for me to protect myself in case some creep decided to follow me

It wouldn't be the first time

. I had to deal with different kinds of people growing up. I look at it with a smile. This is definitely an emergency. With that I walk to his new Audi that I helped him buy and swing my bat crashing the windshield in the process releasing my anger.

"I trusted the both of you." I hit repeatedly until I feel arms wrap around me. Wrong move dude. I turn with the club and start hitting him with it until I feel other arms try to stop me.

"Alex. Stop. You might go to prison because of some useless piece of shit." Kelly says trying to hold the club. I glare at Sean as the thought of going to prison slightly terrifies me.

"We are not done." I hiss. I start walking and Kels follows me with the club in her hand but before I get in, another voice calls my name.

"I'm sorry." Diane says her hands shaking and somehow satisfaction feels me but it's not enough.

"As for you, you'll regret this." I say my voice low. I get in the car then speed off leaving everyone else. I realize that I've left Kelly behind but I don't seem to care. I drive for an hour to my parents house and go straight to my old room.

"I should have known better." I say as I try controlling myself. "I can't cry because of some stupid people. No, I'm the stupid one. How could I have been so oblivious? "The late meetings and calls, he even had the nerve to ask me to cut off Diane because he apparently didn't like her!" I scoff. We had a fight and I told him that he could not control my life. I even ranted to the same stupid Diane. "OMG! that time they talked about searching for my birthday present after I found them together..." a tear finally drops down my cheek.

I pace around my room as the pieces come together.

I slide onto the fluffy blue carpet. My legs crossed as tears start falling. Soon, I'm a sobbing mess.

How could I not see the red flags?
