Chapter 1

"Hello?" I answered the phone when I felt it vibrate beside my sun lounge.

"When are you coming home, Reen?" Someone from my phone asked me.

I tsked when I recognized her voice. It was the last person I wanted to hear! It reminded me of my nightmarish past!

"Grandma, can't you give me a little time off?" I asked her in a bitchy tone and just hung off without bidding my goodbye.

I heave out a loud sigh when I look at my surroundings. I'm currently riding a cruise ship that has been landing in a different country every week, and now that we're still in the middle of the ocean, I am having my rest and peace just by seeing the waves.

"You look like a clown," I heard someone say.

I give him an eye roll even though he can't see it since I'm wearing sunglasses. "What are you doing here?" I asked him with a not so friendly tone and took the can of beer that he handed me.

He looked at me with disbelief in his eyes, as if I just said something unrealistic. "Have you forgotten that I'm the owner of this cruise ship you're riding?" He asked me sarcastically.

"Have you forgotten that you are giving me special treatment?" I labelled my sarcastic voice to his.

"Yeah, whatever." He dismissively said. A whole minute of peacefulness invaded between us. "How are you with your grandma?" And he just had to cut that peacefulness I was feeling.

Here we go again about the family thingy. My best friend is really that great in sensing something that doesn't really matter, like my family.

"Come on Caleb," I called him and stood up from my seat before sitting in his lounge, beside him. I leaned my body towards his direction so he caressed my back. "I don't want to go home anymore." I told him.

I tried my best not to get controlled by the alcohol, I know that anytime soon, my tears would just flow its way and I may break down to him, which always really happened and I'm just glad that he's used to it.

He has always been my friend since high school so I'm confident that I can trust him with anything.

"You don't have to force yourself, babe. Just stay here for a moment, enjoy yourself and get loose." There he is again with the endearment.

If someone can see us with our position. They might think that we are a real couple. He is lying on his lounge while I sit beside him, my upper body lying on his bare chest and his hand is caressing my back.

This might be a sweet moment for every girl who wants some lovey dovey with their boyfriend's, but not me. Caleb always does this to me when I'm sad, so yeah, this is not really a romantic scene for me.

"But you have to go home for your studies right? I mean, I don't think your grandmother would just let you go that easily." He said in a matter of fact voice.

"Yeah, I'm going home after the last country we'll go to, my private plane is waiting there." I replied in a small and whispered voice.

I don't have any energy when it comes to this kind of talking. I'm just eighteen years old but I don't feel like leaving.

"Tsk, how did I even give you a free ticket to my cruise, you're a damn billionaire, you should have one for you!" He scolded me and playfully pushed me from him.

I laughed with what he said and walked towards my seat while shaking my head. He's so childish at his age, his twenty-three yet I feel like I have a five years old sibling.

"Hey, you did it because you want me to relax, right? And besides, I didn't ask you to give me some." I drank the beer from its can and bottomed it up.

I’m tired! Tired of my cold-blooded home and my so-called families! I just hope that there will be something good for me when I come back, not just some insulting words from my grandma!
