Introduction

...if we do not change the future we shall be compelled to endure it. -Alvin Toffler Synopsis: Violetta was raised to be independent. She was raised to think through her problems, and she was raised to be spoiled. She was the Daughter of a noble woman, and a commoner man. This just wasn’t done in Nobility. Her Mother was proud, cool, and fought the class system from within the nobility. Her Father was also very proud, but didn’t always take credit for the good he did. He was gentle. Violetta was definitely a daddy’s girl. One day everything she thought she knew changes. Her parents' marriage fell apart when the new maid came into the house with her son. Knowing that the boy was not at fault for the grown-ups falling apart around them, she befriends the boy, but still avoids his mother. She had to go back and forth between the houses, and now… Everything is about to change again. It turns out, Violetta is a Princess. How does this young, rocket building, grease monkey become a princess? **** “Just look at it, I have to start all over again anyway. There's something wrong with the kanthal coil over here,” she pointed out a spot near the robot’s chest. “Because when I connect this component to the indutor, I’m getting an adverse reaction.” She frowned, not watching his face at all. She began to get more technical in her speech and movements as she showed him what was wrong with it. At first when he had heard her speak, he thought she was just copying words her father had said. But as she kept speaking about inductors, and vaporizers that will enable the robot to run on steam and sunlight, he became convinced. This little brat really did build this robot. And now she was asking him for advice? How was he supposed to know!? He wasn’t a mechanic or an engineer. He looked at her a little lost, as she looked at him expectantly. He swallowed loudly. “I... I don’t know about robots,” he admitted honestly.

Chapter 1

Violetta Dione Noblis, this is her name, the name of a noble. She is a beautiful child with warm sepia colored skin, emerald eyes and deep purple hair. She loves spending time in her father's workshop. He used to be an engineer, and is often called on by the engineering union to help them out if they get stuck on a problem. He's good at solving their problems, whether it is steam mechanics, nanotech, or some combination of the two. Sometimes he brings the problems home to his workshop, and teaches Violetta what to do and how it should work, and asks her what she would do to fix it. They have done this activity since Violetta could utter her first word. Her father's name is Amistad Noblis, and her mother's name is Laura Dione Nobilis. Her mother is a Countess, but her father is a common man. Her father is a handsome man. He has light honey colored skin with lilac colored hair, a strong figure, and a gentle soul. Her mother is a beautiful dominating woman, with a sweet demeanor only to her daughter and husband, her skin is a cool umber color with darker hair. Most of Violetta's coloring comes from her mother.

Archaeology was the family business, handed down from her mother's side. Her father had been a commoner who worked in engineering. He was intelligent, and her parents had fallen madly in love. They married when they became adults at the age of 20. Laura's father taught Amistad the family business, and allowed Amistad to inherit the family name upon marriage. He did not want his daughter to fall into the state of being a commoner, just because her husband was one. That was why little Violetta could now enjoy the life of nobility, while learning engineering, and her own family business of Archaeology.

When young Violetta would often accompany her father in his study and in the workshop. When he was in his study sitting at his desk going over historical documents; Violetta would sit and learn to read while her mother was away at historical dig sites. Sometimes while she sat with her father, she would notice the beautiful pattern that glinted in the sunlight on the father's left hand. She liked it because it would shine so pretty. She would often hold only the left hand of her father when they went out, and she would stare at it. When asked why, she would only say his hand was pretty. One day when out with her father her mother asked her if his right hand was just as pretty. Violetta looked at her father's plain right hand, and shook her head with a scowl. Her father looked at her a little differently then, and changed the subject. She was 3, and did not know then, but only she and her father could see the pretty silver and gold marking on his left hand.

"Violetta," Amistad explained, "My hand being pretty is a secret just between us two ok?"

  "Ok," Violetta nodded, "but why?"

Her father looked at her perplexed on how to explain the complexities of his current situation to a 3 year old. "Uh…" He started, "It's a secret, because only Violetta and father can see it. And if other people found out, they would try to take it away, and then you wouldn't be able to see it anymore."

Tears began to well up in Violetta's eyes. "But that's only if you tell people about it," her father explained quickly, not wanting her to shed her tears.

"So if no one knows, 'Letta can keep looking at it?"

"That's right, little sprig." Her father smiled seeing the understanding dawn on her.

  "Can momma know?"

"No," He said, still smiling. "Momma can't know." He knew he would have to explain it all someday, but for now he would keep his daughter safe from his secret.

"Can Retta know?" She pointed to her stuffed bunny on the couch.

"I think it's better if Retta doesn't know for now," he explained. "I like having a secret just between me and 'Letta."

"Ok", she agreed. Violetta picked up a book from the floor, "Look! It looks like daddy!" Amistad quickly took the book, and hid it. "Let's keep this a secret too, ok?"

"Ok", Violetta agreed. "Retta can't know this one either?"

"It's better if we don't tell her," he said smiling again to hide his nerves. The last thing he needed was someone eavesdropping on his daughter talking about his secret to a stuffed animal. He looked at her wondering if he was like that at her age.

He handed her the stuffed rabbit, and a book from the shelf of kids books as he went back to his desk, locking up the book in a secret compartment. "Rhetta," He heard Violetta say to the bunny. "Daddy taught me what's a secret. But you can't tell anyone. It means 2 people know something, but they can't teach it to no one else. So if I know a secret, I can't tell you ok Rhetta? Don't be mad 'cause I can't tell you ok?" She placated her bunny, and Amistad smirked realizing his daughter was so smart.

Violetta was indeed smart. She was a genius. Anything she read she knew by heart. And she loved to read. But her favorite book was one given to her as a present one year for Founders day. This was the day Amrica City was founded. Every child got presents on this day, and the whole week long, the city was lit up in the prettiest lights, and there were parades, and street fairs. Violetta now 5, had been holding onto her father's left hand. When they stopped at a stall selling old books. Naturally this drew in both her parents because of her profession. The old lady who ran the shop, gave Violetta a book. This book became her favorite book. It was called the False King.

Violetta is now 8 years old. Like all children her age she is taught at home, and is not yet allowed out in society, so at this time she is lonely. Her father has taught her mechanical engineering, but her mother thinks Violetta should spend her time learning archaeology, which is the family business. Violetta has tutors who teach her things like Vocabulary, Grammar, Languages, Arithmetic, Etiquette, Martial Arts and Sciences. But she learns History from her mother and Engineering from her father.

Violetta, due to her loneliness, has decided she will build a robot friend. She slowly begins her process. She is in the process of welding one of the tiny wires onto a circuit board. She hears her mother call her father. Violetta doesn't recognize the tone in her mother's voice. She goes out of the workshop to see what's going on. Her mother is standing in the foyer with a woman and a boy. The woman is dressed in a maid outfit. She is pretty with beige skin, a round face, and light brown hair. The boy looks about Violetta's age, has deep brown eyes and Lilac hair. The both have a depressed look, and the air around them is heavy.

"Meiri?" Her father questions, "What are you doing here?"

"Brother Amistad, can you please give me a live-in position for a while?" the woman Meiri sobbed, but held in her tears.

"What happened?" He asks her, passing the handkerchief from his wife to the woman.

Laura is eyeing the two in front of her. Her husband who normally treats every person who looks for him like air, is paying attention to this woman. Laura is a possessive woman. She likes her husband's attention to be on her. She heard the woman call him brother. But this boy… Why does he have her husband's hair color? She feels weird. She doesn't like this Meiri woman.
