Chapter 1

Angel Condes

I STARED at the three pieces of red roses in my table. I frowned and looked at my surrounding. I can only see my classmates giggling and grinning at me—obviously intrigued by the mysterious guy who has been putting flowers in my desk for months.

My eyes landed at the man who just entered the room. His brown hair, prominent jaw, pointed nose and red pouty lips makes my heart race. His eyes suddenly landed on me and I almost gasped and flinched on my place as he smiled at me—showing his sexy smile. He is Terrence Yilmaz. My ultimate crush.

I bit my lower lip, but I immediately pouted when he darted his eyes to the man behind him. His nerd cousin, Drake Yilmaz. Drake has deep and mysterious brown eyes. Just like Terrence, his jaws are prominent, and he's a bit tanned compared to his cousin. Drake has thin reddish lips and proud nose. If his hair are just a little messy, unlike his usual style that looks like being licked by a cat—he could be on the level of his cousin. Honestly, I can see how handsome he is behind those thick glasses he's wearing.

Terrence put his arms around his cousin's shoulder, but Drake is much taller than him. He chuckled after realizing that.

“Why don't you come with me tonight, Drake? I'm telling you, girls will love your sexy look if you just show them what you're hiding,” Terrence started convincing Drake as they both sat behind my chair.

Terrence is a chic boy. A total opposite of his cousin, but I think that's what makes him more attractive and hot.

I took a deep breath to gather all my courage to ask what I wanted to ask, but one of my classmates asked first—stealing the chance of conversing with Terrence. I grimaced.

“Terrence, you've been giving flowers to Angel for months. Why don't you court her already?”

My heart raced as I looked at Terrence. His forehead creased, and his eyes landed at the roses in my hands. He suddenly laughed. “It's not from me.”

My eyes widened. “WHAT?!”

I know I sound so pathetic, but I really thought and hoped that it was him since he always come to our room after me and smiling every time I look at him.

Terrence pulled himself up and went to me. I almost shut my eyes close as I get to smell his manly scent. Oh, God! What kind of creature is this man? He's so fragrant!

He took the flowers from me and examined it. His lips slightly pouted, “It's not from me, Angel. Maybe from your admirer?”

I was disappointed after he gave back the roses to me. God! I was keeping all the flowers thinking it was from him, but I was freaking wrong!

Annoyed, I marched to the trash bin and threw the flowers inside. Damn it! I hoped!

I gritted my teeth in annoyance and dropped myself to sit in my chair. I blew a loud breath. My exaggerated breath messed my bangs that I quickly fixed afterwards.

Slowly, I turned my head to Terrence's direction, but he was talking nonstop to his cousin who was actually looking at me. My eyes squinted at him—waking him up from his reverie.

I rolled my eyes and darted my eyes back to Terrence. I still can't believe that it wasn't him who's giving me flowers. If it's him, then who is?

I swallowed hard as I accidentally glanced at Drake again, and he immediately avoided my gaze. Oh, no! No! It can't be him!

Drake is out of my type and definitely not my style. It's not that I hate him for being a nerd. I just don't like him because he's constantly stealing the Top 1 position from me. Argh! This is insane! What if it's really him?

I shook my head and hugged myself. God, I'm having goosebumps. I can't imagine myself dating my number one and silent enemy.

“Angel!”

I lazily lifted my face to see Penelope, who's smiling at me from ear to ear. I rolled my eyes at her, “You came to school late, Pen. As usual, but spare me today because I'm not in the mood.”

She chuckled. “Why? Is it because of the flowers? I told you it wasn't from Terrence. You hoped too much, my friend.”

I grimaced and rolled my eyes at her. Of course, she already knows what happened. Gossips have wings and there are so many meddlesome people in this world.

“Hi, Terrence!” Pen waved at the man behind me.

“Hello, Pen! Were you late because you fell in an open drainage again?” Terrence teasing voice made me grinned at Pen who frowned.

Pen is so clumsy. Yesterday, she fell in a drainage and came to school wet and dirty. She smells like a canal yesterday and our homeroom teacher panicked because of her. Our gay homeroom teacher thought a mouse died in our classroom, but it turns out it was just Pen.

“Screw you, Yilmaz! You saw me yesterday, yet you just laugh and did nothing! What an asshole!”

I grimaced. Pen never failed to curse Terrence every time she gets a chance, and it makes me jealous. How come Terrence and I are not close when the whole class is close with him?

“It's your fault for being stupid,” the grinning Terrence is hot as fuck, but I can't even have an hour to converse with him. Argh! My life sucks!

“Good morning! Go back to your respective seats, students!”

I was frowning when I faced the front. Our homeroom teacher rolled his eyes at me after our eyes met. Argh! I bet he's thinking that I'm frowning at him.

“Alright! I already have the list of the class standing this semester!”

Suddenly, he got my attention. Damn! With cross fingers, I swear if I didn't get the first rank, I'll kill Drake Yilmaz as I am certain that he is my only enemy when it comes to academic.

Our homeroom teacher started calling names from the last in the rank to the top. I gasped when he started calling the third in the rank.

“Okay, Terrence Yilmaz, how did you manage to climb on the rank 3 from rank 8?” Mr. Yo asked, raising his eyebrow.

With a shock face, I darted my eyes to Terrence, and he's smiling from ear to ear. Wow!

Mr. Yo rolled his eyes again and continued, “Rank 2,” his eyes landed on me and my breathing hitched. What the fuck!

“You're the Rank 2 this semester, Miss Condes.”

My lips parted as I felt my blood boiling in anger.

“And the Rank 1. Drake, you're constantly stealing the Rank 1 from Angel. Really? Are you playing with her?”

I pressed my lips together and balled my fist under the table. Argh! I will kill you, Drake Yilmaz! How could you humiliate me like this!
