Chapter 1: The Beginning
***
ON THE WALL by the window in the pitch black, soggy, and stinky basement was a small bed with a woman in a gray and white dress on it. She lay helpless. Her feet dangled weakly from the edge of the bed, her empty eyes fixed on the dim light above.
There was a musty odor in the air, her chest hurt slightly, the sheets beneath her were yellow and white, and there was a faint odor of fish.
Her breasts were soft and half-exposed, with blue kiss marks on the outside.
Diana Barrett blinked her eyes open, and a crystal tear flowed into her hair along with her ears, and the faint temperature reminded her that she was still alive.
She wished she could get up and leave this dark basement, but her limbs were firmly cuffed to the bed, and she couldn’t move.
When she heard the sounds of footsteps overhead, her body trembled, and her eyes widened in fear.
The demons have returned, and they’re descending the stairs that lead to this basement!
Their footsteps were what she had heard every day and night for a year after being imprisoned here, and she would never forget them until she died!
“I’m back, Diana...”
The rusty basement door was slammed with a loud clanging sound, and the man’s thick voice could be heard a few meters away, hooking an eerie sensuality.
Diana tensed her body, gritting her teeth and yelling, “Get out! Get out !”
He let out a midnight-horror laugh as he walked in, his polished shoes glowing in the dim light.
“Didi, I came to see you—to see our baby.”
Diana’s stomach spasmed as she heard his voice, and her gentle and quiet face seemed to be ripped in half by someone, and she roared angrily in the direction of the gate.
“Raven! You will be punished, you thick face with a freaking beasty heart!”
Diana’s first love, Raven Carson, wished to be his life partner. She believed she had found the perfect love. But she’s mistaken.
Who would have guessed that the Barrett family’s only daughter would suffer at the hands of a demon?
The Barrett family was one of the wealthiest in business, whereas Raven’s family has less than one-tenth of what the Barretts have. Nonetheless, Diana does not look for Raven’s status because she loves him—she is unconcerned about his identity.
Raven had spoiled her in his arms, showering her with surprises and delights. He clearly gave her a wave of love at the time, and she was overjoyed.
“Are you reminiscing about the past?”
Raven approached Diana’s bed with a strange smile on his face, looking at her scattered gaze. He abruptly bowed down, his large palm covering Diana’s smooth and bulging belly.
“Didi, is our baby seven months old? It’s finally time.”
Diana trembled and fixed her gaze on the man in front of him.
“What do you truly desire? My family trusted you! My parents believe in you! What else do you want?!”
They got engaged and moved into the villa a year ago, and after she finished her last line of defense for him, she discovered his diary in the study, which was full of his betrayals.
She wanted to return to her family and tell her father to reclaim the rights he had been given in the agency business, but the sinister snake exposed him, threatened her with his parents, and placed her under house arrest.
He actually locked her in this dark basement after she nearly escaped!
After a year in prison, she was seven months pregnant and lived a life crueler than a sinner.
Diana, who was lying on a temporary operating table in the basement, stared in horror at the two people around her, who were wearing masks but could still be recognized by her.
“Raven! What are you up to?”
Raven raised an eyebrow and smiled coldly.
Diana only felt cold in her heart and struggled desperately, only to discover that her limbs had been separated and bound.
A slim woman with her long hair pulled up and looked at Raven.
“Do you really think you don’t need to give her anesthetics, Raven? A cesarean section is not something she can bear.”
Raven’s gaze narrowed at Lilith, his companion. “Can the heart still be used after anesthesia?”
Lilith’s brow furrowed, “The child is only seven months old, and if you take it out, there’s a chance he won’t survive.”
“Child? I have no desire for her child! “Quickly, ensure that her heart is in the best condition!”
Diana could not believe what she had just heard and narrowed her eyes as Raven prepared a scalpel.
He didn’t want her child, so why should he force her to have one?
Why get engaged to her!
She had assumed that Raven was simply after the family’s property and was under house arrest to be messed with by himself before her parents handed over the company to him, but this was clearly not the case now!
Her entire body felt like ants were gnawing at it, and fear and anger eroded her fortitude.
Diana yelled angrily, “Raven, have you ever loved me?”
Raven paused in midair as he was about to cut her, and his phoenix eyes regarded her intently. “I don’t love you.”
“W-Why?”
Raven grinned. “The woman I deeply love requires a heart transplant, and you are the most qualified candidate; if you hadn’t found out about my plans, I should have spared your life.”
Raven opened his mouth impatiently towards Lilith. “You are in charge of removing the child, and I am in charge of her heart.”
Lilith nodded and reached out to undress Diana. She aimed the cold knife at her stomach.
“Raven Carson, you ferocious beast! I’m not going to let you go! I’m going to pulverize you!”
Diana’s body was ripped apart by tearing pain, and a blood-soaked baby was taken from her. Her entire body trembled as she watched the baby being tossed aside, and then they attacked her chest.
The man and woman in front of the operating table were calm as wave after wave of pain tore her apart, like 206 bones in her body breaking simultaneously.
The entire basement screams, causing the surrounding birds, insects, flowers, and grasses to tremble incessantly.
