Chapter 1

The car had yet to stop when Medina opened the door, and he even forgot to close the door of the taxi that had taken him from the airport.

"Mom! Mom!" Madina exclaimed with bated breath.

Medina had already thrown her bag on the chair, and she began to go inside the house to look for her mother. The first thing he saw was his mother's room.

No sound.

"Mom, I'm a home, mom," she said from outside the room.

Fear gripped his heart as the worst shadow flashed through his mind. Hesitant, Medina walked towards her mother's room. "mom?"

His mother was not there, and fear got the better of him until he heard a voice from the side porch right in front of his mother's room.

Thank God! Medina's fear vanished. That fear never really went away as long as her mother lived alone.

"It turns out mother is here apparently," Medina said with relief.

Ismiyanti fixed her glasses and looked at her daughter with a small smile while the knitting she had just done was placed beside her chair.

"Where do you think? Is mom? You think robbers kidnaped mom, and they're asking you for a ransom?" keep Ismiyanti seduced her daughter.

Medina giggled, hearing her mother's answer, "You're nothing. Does anyone want to kidnap my mother?" replied Medina.

"You're too serious, honey. You should never relax, and don't let work overwhelm you until you can't enjoy the pleasures of life."Ismiyanti gave advice.

Medina took a breath and sat in the chair before her mother. "Who says I can't relax? Most relaxing can also waste my time, mom," he said.

"At least take the time to have a lover," replied Ismiyanti making Medina speechless.

"Why do I have a lover when I haven't seen a candidate worthy of the position?" Medina leaned her back on a chair.

"Candidate. Do you want to find a lover, or do you want to find a leader territory?" Ismiyanti grumbled.

He thinks it's strange that his beautiful daughter doesn't have a lover. What does Medina lack? She is lovely, has a high education, and the main thing is that he has a relatively high position in his office.

Medina was not unwilling to answer because he knew that only work was a way for him to stay sane and survive his arid love life. Then who is to blame?

"I was shocked when Bik Mirna called me. I was so worried and wondered why mom didn't call me directly. You don't usually tell people to ask me to go home when you know I'll be home before fasting. You're fine, aren't you?" Medina was watching her mother and noticed a thick bandage around her leg.

"Oh my god! What's wrong with you?" Medina asked, misgiving.

Seeing her daughter's fear, Ismiyanti smiled, "Medina, a mother is fine. Don't panic like that," Ismayanti said calmly.

"But, Mom, why? How can I be calm if mom is hurt like this" "Medina argued?

"Medina, I just sprained my leg." Ismiyanti stopped her sentence when she saw Medina's eyes.

"Then what did the doctor say? You've been to the doctor, right?" Medina was impatient.

Ismiyanti fixed her seat. "Medin, don't worry. The doctor checked it out and said it was just a sprain. Nothing dangerous. Mom can't get much out of the way and ...."

"What?" Medina

"I can't work," Ismiyanti replied quietly.

Ismiyanti leaned on the sofa and watched her daughter. Medina's beautiful face and neat appearance looked a little sullen.

While sighing, annoyed, Medina ngedumel," then I quit my job. I told you that my salary is enough to support Mom. Can give you more than Mrs. Wilson can give you." Medina mentioned the name reluctantly.

"Don't forget, I have also told you many times that I like to live independently.

"Do you want to be a housekeeper?" Medina asked softly.

"What's wrong with that? Are you embarrassed to have a mother who works as a housekeeper? Are you not satisfied that I can't give you great pride in my work so far? You don't forget Medina, all this time, who helped us was the Wilson family." Ismiyanti tried to remind Medina.

"Mom, I'm not ashamed, and I also don't forget that they helped us. But now I can, mom. I already have a job with a decent income. Don't you want to give me the satisfaction of being able to please you? I'd rather you stop working." Medina doesn't understand her mother's thoughts.

"You mean, you don't like it when Mom Becomes a maid in the house where you are almost his mistress?" ismiyanti asked suspiciously.

Medina was nervous. "Mom knows it's all just the past," she said hoarsely.

"You're right. It's all in the past. By the way, there is something I want to tell you," said Ismiyanti, who immediately responded with a curious attitude from Medina.

"He's getting married! She's engaged!" tell Ismiyanti with a firm voice.

Medina's sweat spots accumulate into large grains. Medina heard her heart beating.

"Oh," he said with a dry mouth. "Good then."

"You know what, Medin? Daniel is indeed fortunate," said Ismiyanti with a happy tone.

"Daniel?" asked Medina with a frown on his forehead.

"Yes. Of course, Daniel. Your ex-fiance, the man who almost became your husband. Who else, if not him?" replied Ismiyanti, astonished.

Medina wiped her wet forehead with the back of her hand. Worried that her mother noticed her expression and commented on her pale face, Medina looked for an excuse to distract herself, "I was so scared just now. How about I grab a drink first. You want me to get it?" he said.

"Get me whatever you want. You haven't forgotten what I like, Have you?" ismiyanti asked with her eyes fixed on Medina.

"Of course not," Medina replied quickly.

Medina hurried to leave the porch where her mother was. He walked into the kitchen and made a drink for them. His hands were still shaking after his mother's announcement. What would her mother say if it wasn't Daniel in her mind?

"What am I thinking of him again? Whoever wants to get married, I don't care. They no longer have any relationship with me," he said steadily.

It was like Medina had gone back in time.

Medina sits uneasily and has only been engaged to Daniel Wilson, the youngest son of her mother's employer. Still, she is unsure of their future if she continues the unfair relationship.

"I should have rejected Daniel even if he said he was serious. How can I marry someone younger than me?" he said in his heart.

They had only met for two months, and Daniel was immediately attracted to her from the first meeting. Daniel, a student at one of the colleges in America, is interested in her and wants to marry her. Does Medina believe it?

"Fool, if anyone heard Daniel, they might think I'm overconfident." Megan laughed to herself as she thought about the possibility of that happening.

What should he say to Daniel? Did he say his girlfriend was getting better? But who is her lover? Medina struck his forehead in confusion.
