In an abandoned factory in the western suburbs of Seakarta City, Jennifer was lying on the ground on the verge of death.
Every day, the kidnappers would cut off one of her toes and send it back to the Hamilton family.
It had been seven days, but there was still no movement from the Hamiltons.
Jennifer was disheartened, but she was still willing to believe that her family would not leave her alone.
Suddenly, footsteps sounded.
Her eyes lit up, and she asked cautiously, "Hello? Are you here to save me?"
What answered her was a sneer.
"Save you? Don't dream about it. Jennifer, you think your cheap life worth one billion?"
This voice was... Barbara?!
Since it was not to save her, it must be to harm her.
"You are with them? The Hamilton family has raised you up. Don't you feel sorry for the Hamiltons by doing this?"
Barbara laughed as if she had heard something funny.
"The Hamiltons? Ha-ha-ha, you really can flatter yourself. Except for that old guy, who else would take you as a member of the Hamilton family?
Oh, one thing I forgot to tell you. The old guy died last night."
"What did you say?!"
"Why are you so surprised? He should have died long ago. I've been in the Hamilton family for so many years, but he doesn't care about me at all! Just because I'm not a blood Hamilton, he doesn't give me any shares. I showed him your toes, and he had a stroke. I went to the hospital last night to pull out his oxygen tube and watched him die."
Barbara's words were as light as the wind. She sounded like it was as easy as pulling out a phone charger.
"You beast, I'm going to kill you!" Jennifer shouted.
However, she didn't eat or drink for a few days, so she was too weak to get up.
"It's all your fault for his death. You should have stayed in your rubbish heap forever, and never come back. You're just a jinx to everyone. Can't you see that Dad, mom and Dalton all hate you?"
Jennifer was lost when she was seven years old. Her parents could not accept losing their beloved daughter, so they adopted Barbara.
Five years ago, by chance, the Hamilton family found Jennifer. However, they did not abandon Barbara because of this. Instead, they let the two girls get along as sisters.
Jennifer grew up in the slums and didn't understand etiquette at all, so her parents disliked her and refused to get close to her.
Barbara always pretended to have a good relationship with her parents when Jennifer was frustrated, so as to deliberately provoke her.
Jennifer was not convinced. She thought that she was the biological daughter of her parents. How could she lose to Barbara? So she competed with Barbara everywhere to learn things that she was not good at. On the contrary, she always made a fool of herself, which made her parents dislike her more.
Only her grandfather, who seemed to be very strict with her on the surface, was the only one who really cared about her in this family.
But now, her grandfather had been killed by Barbara.
Seeing Jennifer crying in pain, Barbara felt extremely happy.
"Anyway, you're going to die. I'll tell you everything. Mom and Dad didn't want to save you in the first place. They want you to be killed. You have high-priced accidents and life insurance. As long as you die, they can get a lot."
"Also, I will marry Dalton after you die. After all, if we wait any longer, my pregnancy will no longer be able to hide."
Once again, Jennifer was extremely shocked. Even Dalton had betrayed her?
She thought that Dalton was a responsible man. Even if he didn't marry her because of love, at least he wouldn't betray her.
It turned out that she had seen the wrong person.
It turned out that from the beginning to the end, both her parents and Dalton had chosen Barbara.
She had never won.
Even though they didn't love her, why did they have to hurt her like this?
SHE HATED THEM!
She could give up anything as long as someone tear Barbara to pieces!
Looking at her red eyes full of hatred, Barbara inexplicably panicked. She ordered her men, "Do it!"
The cold blade cut through Jennifer's neck, and she stared at Barbara with her eyes full of hatred.
She had not avenged her grandfather and had not let those who betrayed her and used her pay the price. How could she die like this?
How could it be!
A strong sense of unwillingness burned like fire, twisting everything in front of her...
----
"Ah!"
"Jennifer, have you had enough of it? I have promised to get engaged to you. What else do you want?"
The ear-piercing scream, as well as a cold rebuke...
Jennifer's head was about to explode. As soon as she opened her eyes, she saw Barbara and Dalton glaring at her, tears welling up in Barbara's eyes.
What was going on?
Hadn't she been killed?
She looked around calmly, and her mind was racing. Suddenly, she realized that she had returned to four years ago, when she was ready to attend the party her parents held to announce her return!
God must have heard her resentment and unwillingness, so it gave her a chance to come back for revenge!
"Did you hear what I said? Apologize to Barbara quickly, or I'll cancel the engagement with you!"
Dalton's angry roar brought her back to reality.
To cancel the engagement? That was exactly what she wanted! Engage with this jerk? It was even more disgusting than eating a fly!
With a sneer, she pushed Dalton away, grabbed Barbara's hair, and slapped her several times!
"AHHHHH!"
Barbara was screaming. She could no longer pretend to be weak, and jumped up to hide behind Dalton.
"Dalton, save me!"
"This damned Jennifer. How dare she attack me!" cursed Barbara silently.
Dalton quickly pushed Jennifer away and stood between her and Barbara. "What the hell are you doing?"
He had thought that she would apologize obediently if he used the engagement as a threat. He didn't expect that she would be even more fierce and dare to hit Barbara in front of him.
"Get lost!"
Jennifer's eyes were as cold as ice. Dalton's heart skipped a beat as he looked at her.
He didn't expect that the usually obedient woman would show such a cruel expression.
Barbara hid behind him and said with tears in her eyes, "Dalton, don't be angry. Jenny must be angry because she saw you care so much about me. She likes you so much..."
"I like him?" Jennifer sneered disdainfully. "How can I fall in love with him when I'm obviously not blind?"
In her previous life, she must be a total moron to think Dalton was a good man.
Looking back now, she was probably just competing with Barbara. She desperately wanted to outdo Barbara for once, so she placed her hopes on Dalton. But that wasn't love. So, when she found out about Dalton's betrayal, she felt only disappointment and disgust, not heartache.
Now that she was awake, why did she have to sacrifice herself for an insignificant person?
Dalton was furious upon hearing Jennifer's words. She, a country girl who had never attended school before, suddenly seemed to think she was better than he. When had it ever been her turn to look down on him?
