CHAPTER 1
Maitland,
Central prison,
8:30 am.
The gates were unlocked and a prisoner came out meeting his lawyer who was waiting for him already.
While Abby was standing outside the prison, leaning on her Lexus ES 350, folding her arms under her breast as she smiled on the phone talking with her Fiancé.
Abby is a young woman with a heart-shaped face and brown eyes, fixed with a pointed nose as sharp as a sharpened pencil, while her lips slim like a leaf.
Irrespective of her intelligence and beauty, her lips were one of her biggest tools as men found them very attractive and shape-like for giving sensational pleasure.
She has been waiting for her client for almost 30minutes as she was aware that he was to be set free on that day.
She had made sure to be there earlier that morning before he could be sent out of the portals as she feared that, no one will come to pick him up because he is an only child and his mother was sick too.
"Why are these people taking so much time to let him out?", Abby raised a question looking at her wristwatch.
Luckily for her, she was standing under a tinge as the prisons parking lodge was hidden from the rays of the sun.
Added to her many qualities of being a fine lady, she was also caring and she carried out her work diligently as her clients were are top prerogative irrespective Of who they are as the moment they divided to change, she was ready to do anything to uphold them.
Standing introverted by her car, she recalled how she first met her client and how their first encounter had been.
*** Guards opens the prison fences, and Abby goes inside and sits down on the bench while waiting for her client to come and meet her.
Catching a glimpse of the young man she was to defend, Abby was dumbfounded as to how handsome he was, with all the muscles and beards just like a demi-god.
She watched him come from the corridor to where she was seated and immediately he was close enough, she rose to her feet, stretching her right hand to him, as a sign of salute introducing herself as his lawyer.
" My name is barrister Abby Williams, and I will be posing as your attorney for the crimes that are charged against you, as you can not afford the services of a solicitor", she muttered with a smile.
Reading the questionable idiom that was found on his face, she wanted to make him feel comfortable as to the person that was going to work with him, so she added,
"I supposed that you are Mr. Warren Garcia my client and the person that I will be defending not so?".
Ignoring her hand and looking thoroughly at the lady that was strutting in front of him, the fellow looked at her hand and with proud regard, he raised a question as to what Abby wanted from him.
"I do not need a counselor", spoke out looking away.
Abby, trying her best to coerce her anger that was loading up as the lawbreaker was not making things easier for her, declared that she will be standing in for him so she needed all the information she could get from his side story on what had happened.
" How did you end up behind bars and what do you have to say for your defense?", she took out documents on her briefcase that she had placed in front of her on the table, ready to put down everything he was to say.
Warren who was playing Mr. tough still sat quiet and decided not to say a word.
This demeanor of his joined with the other curtailing attitudes that he had been putting up towards her from the moment she had walked into that prison, brought about the anger in Abby, as she rose to her feet packing her things and telling him to get another lawyer for himself as she could not put up with such arrogance from him.
As Abby was just about to leave the table, taking her bag and briefcase from there, Warren spoke out in a calm and serene voice,
"I am sorry Ms. Williams, it was not my intention to get you on your nerves as I felt like I could not trust you not anyone who came in here as the others just feigned that they wanted to help me.
Abby, after listening to what warren had just said, slowed down her steps taking a turnover to hear what he had said better.
Warren, who had noticed that she was different from the two other attorneys that had visited him before, apologized sincerely for maiming her job and devaluing her when it was obvious that all she wanted to do was to help him.
With sorrows in her heart and tears in her eyes, she could understand what he was going through as he hoped that her other colleagues who showed up there could eventually help him out, but turned out that he was wrong.
With a declined head, Warren stopped talking for a while and later elevated his head whispering,
" If you wish not to take up my case any longer, then I perfectly understand Ms. Williams".
Abby, who brought into the world the heart of humanity, walked back to the bench and had a sit facing Warren as she dropped her bag and her briefcase once again while taking out her little workbook to jot down everything that he was going to explain to her.
Breathing in like someone who was been choked up and now have an opening to breathe in some fresh air again, he asked what was it she wanted to know about him.
Abby could feel the pain and difficulty he was going through as the words weighed on his edges as he was all sad and weary all of a sudden.
