A lone figure stood atop a mountain of corpses. A scene that could only be described as a nightmare to anyone witnessing it.
Fortunately Rio was not just witnessing this scene, He was living it.
Sitting down on the pile of blood and He reminiscenced about what led him to this moment.
He thought back to the day he first came to the foundation, thinking that this was going to be a simple job. He would come in, Work and get out. He'd spent many years serving the Foundation, doing just that until one fateful encounter.
Rio had worked under another researcher who was pining for a higher position in the company. Rio was never interested in such things. But as fate would have it, he had a knack for the supernatural. He built up feats after feat sending him up through the ranks quickly. Much too quickly for his superior.
One day when they were working together, his boss made an odd request. He wanted him to find something. Something that no other researchers had ever found before. Something that would change the foundation of life forever.
Rio, unaware of what his true intentions were, foolishly carried out this task without thought. After much research, he discovered a book with strange markings all over it. The markings looked like letters or symbols but there was nothing else inside. And as if on cue, the door burst open and in walked his superior wearing a lab coat, followed by 3 armed guards.
They ordered that Rio hand over the book at once. He didn't know what was going on but that didn't matter to him. He handed over the book without a struggle.
His superior was overjoyed as he was handed the book but that joy quickly turned to anger as he opened the book to the empty pages.
He accused Rio of hiding the contents of the book and demanded for him to hand them over. Rio refused, explaining that the pages were always empty. This only angered the man more and he ordered one of the guards to shoot him. The guard pulled his pistol from its holster and pointed it at Rio's head.
Rio held his hands up but that was not nearly enough. The bullet passed through him like a knife through butter and hit the wall behind him. Rio fell to the ground dead.
At least that's what he thought.
Suddenly a voice rang in his mind and an image of a book appeared in front of him.
"I have never met a mortal as devoid of passion as you. You lack greed or envy. A pure essence that only lives for himself without worry of the outside world.
I like that, so I will give you an opportunity.
You will be given a new life. A new purpose.
You shall live for me and I shall bestow you gifts in return."
Rio couldn't speak but felt as if he had no choice in the matter.
"I'm glad you're so cooperative.
My name is Alberoth.
As a gift to welcome you into your new life I will bestow upon you a past servant of mine. He will remain by your side and you shall do with him as you see fit.
When the time comes, You shall create your own army.
I will be waiting for you when that day comes."
As Alberoths voice faded, so did Rios' vision as his life started anew.
When Rio Opened his eyes, He found himself in a dimly lit room
Looking down at his body, Rio was shocked.
He was what looked like a small deformed dog with yellowish green fur and bright red eyes.
His hands were less like paws and more like hooves.
He was more dog than human.
And standing by his side was an emotionless man in a black cloak.
Staring at the man made his head hurt as a message appeared.
