I've never meet a merciless man like my new boss.He wants us to work 24/7 for the sake of the company.And I,as a person who really needs to work hard for her family,tends to obey his rules and regulations.
I'm Scarlet Therese Smith, a 23 year old newbie worker of Henson Marketing Company.I already graduated college last year and now I'm encountering a new phase in my life.Personally,my dream job was to become a lawyer.I wanted to pursue it after my pre-law course but I wouldn't able to fulfill my dream.Wanna know why?In this challenge they called life,everyone needs money to survive.In my case,I wouldn't able to pursue law school because my family can't afford to support my dream.
I'm not born with a silver spoon.We suffer from poverty since then.But still,I'm thankful for my parents because they raise me well and they made me graduate in a prestigious school. Both of them are old right now and as the breadwinner of the family,I need to work hard for us to survive everyday.

"Miss Smith, pay attention to your work." I came back to my trance when our new boss spoke again.
"S-Sorry, sir." I bowed and said.
"It seems like something's bothering you."
"Nothing, sir. If you don't mind, I need to go back to my work sir." I said and left in front of him
Our former boss has retired. Mr. Marcus Henson was the former boss of HMC but he has now passed it on to his grandson, Dylan Louise Henson. Sir Dylan has only been in the company for about 3 months but there are many people who don't like him and I am one of them.
Why is it that we are made to work almost every day and we don't even get to rest? Our eyes are almost salivating from staring at the computers but we still don't have a break. I often come home with back pain from just sitting all night.
"You know Scar, you don't need to think about Sir Dylan anymore. It's okay for him to command us, he's handsome anyway." said my work Mitch.
"Are you crazy?That handsome guy you're talking about has a bad attitude, tsk." I rolled my eyes at her.
"You, you're really ruining the moment. Anyway, are you going to do something later?"
"Where are we going?" my eyebrows furrowed.
I really know where we are going. Every time she asks me like that, I can sense that something's bad gonna happen. The last time I went with her, I vomited on someone's other car. It's really embarrassing. I'm glad the owner of the car didn't look for me.
"Sam's bar?Gosh, are we going to drink again?"
"What's wrong with that? Scar, we also need to unwind sometimes, not just work." she preached.
"Yeah if only our new boss will allow us."
"Sir Dylan is nice, isn't he?"
"Until now you are still defending him." I rolled my eyes at her but she didn't seem to be listening to me. I was in front of her but her smile was constant as if she was looking at something behind me. I already know, I've seen a handsome man again. Mitch always act weird when there's a handsome guy.
I turned to the seat in front of her and my suspicion was correct. A handsome man entered our office. He's wearing a formal attire, an exquisite black suit. He's also carrying a black suitcase. I can't see his whole face because he's wearing sunglasses. It was also classy like his attire. But even though his eyes are covered, you can still notice the smoothness and shape of his face and body. Even if that's all I can see, I can say he's really an epitome of handsome.
I was surprised when he approached me. I was suddenly nervous. What are you going to do when a very handsome and rich man approach you?
"Where is your boss?" his voice was calm and manly.
"U-Uh Mr. Henson is in his office at this moment, sir." I stuttered.
"I'm probably late for the meeting." he looked away for a second. "Thank you for the information." he said and walked away from me.
He made his way to Sir Dylan's office. He might be one of the new investors of HMC. I heard yesterday that they will have a big meeting today with the billionaires.
"Girl looks like I have a new crush!" Mitch shook my shoulder and couldn't help but scream.
"What the hell, if you're excited, don't get me involved. I'm keeping quiet here." I said
"He was close to me earlier, it's yours. But Scar omo, you're lucky! You talked to one of the most successful businessmen in the country!" she said.
"Who is he?" I will ask.
"Are you sure you don't know him? Hey, you're really old. He's Zack Theodore Roosevelt—"
"Wait, is he the heir to the Roosevelt Marketing Company?" I added "Exactly! That's him! What a fortune, right? RMC is the leader in the field of marketing business."
"Yeah but I haven't heard of his name. The only thing I know is that the only grandson of the deceased CEO of RMC is in Australia." I said while setting up my desk.
"Yes, Sir Zack is the only grandson of Mr. William Roosevelt. He came home to the Philippines last year to continue the business left by his grandfather." Mitch said.
"He's lucky. But shouldn't his father continue their family business?" I asked in surprise. It makes sense, right? Why would the grandson continue the business if owner's son is still alive?
"Scar, I have something but promise not to tell anyone else."
I just nodded at her. She approached me and whispered something in my ear.
"The gossip is because the recognized son of Mr. William Roosevelt and Mrs. Emily Roosevelt, Mr. Charles Roosevelt is not really their real son." she whispered.
"Are you serious? I'm asking seriously, answer me properly please." I said to her
"What I said is true! Previously, Mr. William and Mrs. Emily could not have children because Emily was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. In short, they adopted a child. They named him Charles who is recognized as Sir Zack's father." she explained
"Recognized? So that means Mr. Charles is also not Sir Zack's biological father?" I asked confused.
"No, Sir Zack's real father is Mr. Terrence Roosevelt. Mr. Terrence is Mr. William's illegitimate son. Mr. William used to have an affair with another woman and it paid off. They hid it from the public fearing that the name of their company might be affected. The latest gossip, Mr. Terrence is still in Australia." he said
"I still don't get it, so why is Mr. Charles the recognized father of Sir Zack instead of Mr. Terrence? Isn't Mr. Terrance still alive? Did he let his son go to someone else?" I asked incessantly.
"Because—" Mitch stopped speaking when we heard a voice behind me.
"Gossip during work hours? That's why your sales are going down." I was surprised to see Sir Zack in front of us again.
He is no longer wearing sunglasses and I can see his beautiful eyes. He is now with Sir Dylan and other possible investors of our company.
"Gentlemen, as you can see there are disadvantages when you invest in HMC. Why would you invest in a company that is close to bankruptcy? And as all of you noticed, their employees are irresponsible and neglectful. I can't believe this are our opponents in the marketing industry." Sir Zack embarrass all of us in the investors. Even Sir Dylan was embarrassed and annoyed by what Sir Zack said.
"Gentlemen, I can explain. This is not always the situation of our employees. All of them are working 24/7 just give the demand of the public. They do not neglect their jobs. That is why we are in the top 2 in the ranking of marketing companies because we are persistent and work hard." said our boss, Sir Dylan.
"Sorry Mr. Henson but Mr. Roosevelt is right. We must choose an eligible and profitable company to invest. It seems like HMC didn't meet our standards and expectations." said the representative of the investors
Sir Dylan just bowed down because of frustration while Sir Zack was smiling from ear to ear because of what he did.
The other CEOs of the marketing companies that are included in the ranking are also here. I forgot that our rival companies are also present at the meeting. Because the investors will shop for the company in which they will invest.
"Among all the companies we visited, only Roosevelt Marketing Company got our attention. We declared RMC as our official company partner." said one of the investors which made Sir Zack happy.
"But sir, HMC is better than them. I prove to you sir just give me some time please." Sir Dylan pleaded
"Our decision is final and irrevocable, please respect."
The investors and CEO's finally left. Sir Zack and Sir Dylan were left in front of us today.
"I told you, no one can beat me." Sir Zack flashed a smirk.
"This is not the end." Sir Dylan responded with a deadly glare.
"Well, it was. I win, you lose. Just accept the fact that your dumb company can't surpass mine." it let out a goofy smile again
"Don't be complacent. I will bring down your company." Sir Dylan said while clenching his fist.
"Oh really? See you in the international marketing competition. But wait, maybe not because your company will lose money from now on." he gives an evil smile then walks away from us.
For a second, I thought Sir Zack was way better than Sir Dylan but I was wrong. He's more cruel than my boss. How could he do that? I understand that's how business really is, but he's a serious insult, tsk.
I hope that billionaire receives his karma for shaming us.
