Yawning for the ninth times, I round up the cleaning.
I feel tired and hungry, I have been working since morning without eating any meals.
Aunty Shannon said I must finish my work for today before I can eat.
The work includes laundry, cleaning, flowering and cooking.
I just finished everything and I am looking forward to having my food. I might end up passing out if I don't eat in the next couple minutes.
That's what I go through everyday in the hands of my uncle's wife and children.
" A... Aunty I..am done " I stuttered as I stood in front of her.
She gave me a detesting stare while I shook my head..
" If you are done what then now happens? How am I sure everything Iis in order?" She said coldly.
" It is Aunty "
" You can go " she said focusing back on the magazine
" B..but my food Aunty "
" Food? Did your parents leave any food behind for you before they died? If no, get out of my sight before I slap you "
Tears welled up my eyes. Is it my fault my parents are no more? Why did I have to go through all this?
" Are you still here?" She said and threw her flip flops at me . I just couldn't control my tears anymore as I burst into fresh tears taking myself away to my room where I can cry to my satisfaction.
" Ella have you watched the dress I asked you to ?" Ruby asked, coming in...
"Y...yes "
" What about the grocery I asked you to buy?" Maria asked and I shook my head.
I haven't had time to get them for her..
"I...I got it right away " I said running off but she caught my risk and hit my stomach..
I winced in pain unable to utter a word. It will only lead to more beating.
" Are you mad? Is it the grocery I asked you to buy since morning? And it's evening already " she snapped pushing me to the floor.
" I...I am sorry " I muttered
" I give you 30minutes to get it for me if you don't want to be thrown out of this house "
" She's going nowhere " Layla interrupted.
Maria groaned as she glared at me.
" What's your problem Layla? " She asked
" I should be asking you, Maria, what is your problem?"
" My problem is that I want Ella to bring my stuff in 30"
" And I say she isn't going anywhere"

" Get up Ella " she held me up taking me to my room.
" I will report you to Mum " Maria yelled
" Report to the universe if you wish "
Layla has been the only one who loves me in this house and my uncle thought he's not always around. I don't know what I have done to the rest, they hate me so much..
" I am sorry for my sisters behavior towards you Ella " Layla said as she sat beside me on the bed
" It's fine, I mean I am used to it. Thank you for saving me " I said to her
" You are my sister and I will always love you "
" I know you haven't eaten so I bought some food on my way home for you " she said handing me a nylon.
" Thank you so much Layla " I took the fried rice with beef and began munching it in hunger.
" Easy okay? " She said. I nodded while she passed me a genuine smile
" I will be in my room, see you later "
She said and left...
I am very glad I have someone like her close by, I don't know what I would have done without her.
