Chapter 1

I quickly stepped on the brakes.

''Hey! Watch your way! You almost crashed my car!''

I heard the driver shout, but that is not important right now. All I want is to get to my destination.

''No, my husband loves me... he will never hurt me with another woman!'' I mumbled as I restarted the engine of my car.

Because of my reckless driving, I almost had an accident a few times. Until I finally arrive at my destination.

I picked up my phone again and looked at the address in the message.

''I'm sure my husband is not here; someone is messing with me; this is not true!'' I utter this while getting out of my car.

Someone has been texting me, telling me that my husband is having an affair, and if I want to know who the girl is, I need to go to this address.

I don’t want to believe it because he hasn't shown any change since my husband and I got married. He has remained sweet and thoughtful towards our son and me.

So I calmed down before getting out of the car and entering the restaurant.

The place is cozy, and it looked like there was a private event because there were no customers, so I went straight to make sure my husband was not there.

As I entered the private rooms one by one, I picked up my phone to dial the number of the person who had messaged me.

''So, my prankster is still here,'' I whisper, hearing the sound of ringing.

I walked quickly and went to the place where the sound was coming from, and when I opened it,

''Surprise!'' A loud greeting from my husband and Cristine...

''What's going on here?'' I asked, my shock replaced by happiness as my husband greeted me with a hug.

''Nothing, I just want to surprise you since we've been busy with our work,''

''Hmm, right! My husband, architect Kyle Hidalgo, doesn't have time for me, and all he's doing is his project!'' I agreed and received his kiss.

''Great! I am happy that I can help with this wonderful night,'' Cristine exclaimed and smiled broadly.

My husband immediately released me from his hug and stepped back a little away from me.

''Christine, thank you for helping me with this present,'' Kyle says as he looks meaningfully at Cristine.

''Hmm, don't mention it since you're helping me with my project, and it's for my tita, so no problem at all,'' Cristine responded, glaring at Kyle.

''Seriously? What project?'' I asked, not knowing what was happening since I was also busy with work.

''Love, I think Cristine needs to go. I'll tell you later what her project is,'' Kyle answered and put his arm around my shoulder.

''Huh? She can join us for this beautiful dinner,'' I respond while holding Cristine's hand.

''Then if you insist, I'll be happy to blast your dinner date,'' Cristine reacted and smiled sweetly at Kyle.

''Of course, it's been a long time since I last talked to you. How long have you been here?'' I asked as we sat down.

''Hmm, I arrived three months ago, but I've been busy with my studies, so I can't visit you,'' Cristine answered as she sipped her wine.

''And where did you meet Kyle?'' I asked while cutting the stake on my husband's plate.

''I met him right after I arrived from abroad, right Kyle?'' Christine answered.

''Ahh, yeah... Remember my project that just ended? She's leaving next to the site,'' Kyle answered and smiled at me as I handed him his stake.

''Really, you didn't mention her before?'' I say as I take a bite and smile.

''Huh? Well, I thought you already know since you always talk to your brother on the phone,'' Kyle reasoned, and he drank his wine.

Have you ever felt something is going on, but you can't figure out what it is? Well, that's how I feel now... I don't know, but there seems to be a secret between Kyle and Cristine, but I can't give it a name.

Yeah, we talk a lot on the phone, but we don't see each other anymore. Maybe we can have a get-together someday; what do you think, Love? " I turned to Kyle and held his arm.

I felt my husband's muscles stiffen as he looked at Cristine before turning to me.

''Sure, Love, my project is almost over, so I have free time,'' Kyle resolved.

''Great! I'll take a vacation then,'' I declared and continued eating.

The dinner I did not expect turned out to be peaceful and fun.

''Christine, you don't have a car?'' I asked as we were leaving.

Cristine answered, ''I didn't bring my car since Kyle picked me up earlier.''

''Ahh, Cristine still doesn't have a license, so she can't drive,'' Kyle explained.

''Ohh, Love, you can bring Cristine home since you bothered her with your surprise,'' I suggested.

''Thanks, Tita, and I'll be around, so see you soon,'' Cristine declared before hugging and kissing my cheek.

''Love, I'll go home right away,'' Kyle says before supporting Cristine to get into his car.

''Okay, be careful in your driving,'' I remind him as I follow him with my gaze.

While watching Kyle smile while talking to Cristine, I felt a bad feeling... Even the simple gesture that my husband makes for Cristine is imprinted in my mind.

Rafael, don't think immoral thoughts about your husband and Cristine! I preach to myself as I get into my car.

''Kyle is a gentleman who has loved you his entire life, so relax because he will never cheat on you, especially with Cristine!'' I affirmed.

I left the restaurant with a smile since the message I received was a lie.

''This worthless and baseless accusation will never ruin my family. I have a loving and faithful husband...My family is almost perfect,'' I mumbled as I left the restaurant, smiling.

That's what I thought...
