Chapter 1

High school can be full of surprises you know. Every year has its own story , drama and I wonder what this year brought for.

It's that time of the year where you have to be the new kid in school. The new kid in town. I mean I was going to one of the best schools but I wouldn't say I was much thrilled about it. Leaving behind my best friends , basically leaving everything behind. I sure would miss this place , this the home I never knew.

My brother on the other hand I can't say so much about him. I mean he was excited to get out of this place. He's been letting us hear it all week.

What's sad is that me and my brother we are heading off to the same school. It's my last year in highschool and it's his first. And I don't think I can handle the pressure of being around him the whole year.

My brother is talkative often gets in trouble and I always have to bail him out of his shitty messes. I am afraid that he might in trouble just because I'm there. I'm not ready to create enemies for myself.

I can see my mother is not happy too that we are moving. But I can see how's she's doing all this for us , trying to give the best education we can get. She trying really hard for our success.

And now that I got a scholarship to study in Plainview High , she wouldn't just let that slide. Plainview it's where the rich people live and we not rich. My mother is been working twice as hard to get her money. We had no father to look after us. My father left us when I was very young , before my brother was born. He never knew the face of his father and I even barely know him . I was very young then. Mother took it upon her to raise us. To give us the best future possible. I'm proud of her , she the definition of a strong woman.

I work hard everyday to impress her , to make her proud , to make her happy.

I was the top student of my school , always getting straight A's.

Even my brother same. He was a really clever kid even though he didn't show it.

I'm happy for him too and like me he got the scholarship. I guess it runs in the families blood.

Now we had to move to Plainview , my mom thought it would be better that way since it's way closer to school.

Luckily she found a place good enough and with an affordable price. And found a better job that Paid well.

"Come-on guys finish up packing. They are coming to fetch in a few minutes." My yelled from the kitchen.

" Yes mom." I sighed as I stuffed my clothes in the bag. Well I was the only one still packing. My brother had finished a while a go. I lifted my bag over my shoulder and took one last glance in my room before leaving. I would really miss this place.

"Why so glum. I'm pretty the new place is way better." My brother appeared with the biggest smile on his face.

I rolled my eyes as I walked down the stairs.

"Come-on. It even has a pool. Tell me one time you've been in a pool."

" Tell me why are the only one excited about this."

" I'm not the only one. Jimmy is excited to too."

Geez I almost forgot he kept a rat in the house and even named it Jimmy. How did he talk mom into this?

"I can see that." I watched as the rat spins happily in it's cage.

"Well if you still wanna stay in Plainview. I suggest you keep that rat of yours away."

" His name is Jimmy. And he cool."

"Ohh yeah he cool. That's why you almost got expelled from school last time."

" They would know that if they got the chance to know him better."

"Of cause. You know what? Maybe you should introduce him to our neighbors so they get to know him better." He just rolled his eyes attending his rat.

"Don't mind him Jimmy. He's just a hater."

" Are done boys?" Mom appeared from the kitchen.

" Yes mom." We both answer.

"Good. They will be here any minute now. In the meantime who wants ice cream?" Ice cream that's my brother's favorite. Want to get him to do something ice cream is the way.

"I was afraid it would melt on the way. So we might as well eat now."

" Yay!!" He didn't waste anytime he went digging into the Ice cream. Me and mom just looked at each other and laughed before joining him.

When we were done eating the van to pick us up was already waiting outside. We moved our stuff to the van ready leave.

"Hey dude. I'll see you alright." My friend Jaden was here to help us move. He's been my friend since we were just little kids and I couldn't believe I was leaving him behind.

"Yeah. Be good." I gave a hug before heading to the car. "we will talk over the phone alright." And now we were waiting for Andrew in the car. He was bidding goodbye to the whole neighborhood. And I thought he couldn't wait to get away from this place.

"Can we go now." Finally my brother eventually came back. We waved goodbye to our neighbors. This was really it , we were leaving. The car already reaching outskirts of our small town. I looked as the town disappeared behind us. The buildings going past us.

This was really it , I was going to start a new life. I didn't know to think about it as a good thing or not.

"Wow!!" My brother's Jaws dropped mesmerized by the tall buildings. Some were like they were going to fall on us. This was it the start of our New lives.

My name is Jake and this is my highschool story. The story of my life in Plainview.
