Chapter 1

Holding the thin piece of paper in my hand, I was listening to the loud sound of the happy people around me.

They were all jumping in happiness, partying like there is no tomorrow anymore. All the bright smiles on their faces are bedazzling my eyes.

I can't help but to smile as well, and slowly stopped when my eyes darted at the big stage, where the said band that people are cheering up on and idolizing, are singing in front as they looked so happy by how people party with them.

My smile faded as my hand slowly moved down, while I am looking at the two people in front, holding each other's hands as they look so happy together while they sing.

Why am I even here? I should be on my work for today, and not joining this concert at all.

Well... I just wanted to see him, and reminisce everything that happened...

I WOKE up with the grains of my sweats in my face. What the hell! I didn't notice that I already fell asleep last night as I watched my favorite romantic movie.

"Uh..." I groaned and turned off my laptop that is still playing until now. What the hell, it was playing for already five hours, and it was already low battery!

Why did I even forget to turn it off before sleeping?

I stood up from my messy bed and put my laptop on plug on the charger. I stretched my arms and jumped inside the bathroom to do my morning rituals.

I regret watching random stuffs last night because I feel so lack of sleep today, now that it's Monday and I have a class!

After doing my morning rituals, I fixed myself and worn out my favorite style of clothing, my favorite skirt that my mom gave me on my thirteenth birthday, and it still suits me well now that I am already seventeen.

Well...

I paired it with my loose shirt and a blazer, and the last thing that I have worn is my faded rubber shoes. Standing in front of my mirror, I fixed my hair and made it a messed up bun, and I am finally done.

Rushing down to the old apartment I am living at, I called a cab and immediately get in. I grabbed my phone inside my bag to see that I only have ten minutes more to jump in my school and not be late.

"Please, make it fast, sir. I needed to make it before our first class teacher arrives!" I begged to the driver, making him feel pressured with what I said. It was true, anyway. My first subject teacher is terror, and she's scary. He just rolled his eyes at me and slightly fastened the speed of his cab.

He is the taxi driver that always passes by our apartment to take me to my school. Well, he's really a silent type of driver, weird for me. But anyway, he's still kind though for giving me a twenty percent discount in my payment for always choosing him to drive me to school.

"You're finally here. Don't forget your meals. Have a nice day," He emotionlessly said to me as he parked his cab at the side of the gate of our school.

I immediately paid him and get down his car. I still smiled at him before running inside the gate of the Eastdale Academy.

Everybody as well is rushing. I heavily sighed when I finally get in the room. Holding the door's knob as I get inside made me wiped all my sweats in my forehead.

I slowly fixed myself when I realized how silent it is on where the room I got in. Slowly turning my head, my eyes widened when I finally saw the people inside.

Gosh! I came in a wrong room, and this is the wrong floor! Aish! How I hate the complete similarities of every room and floors in this school!

The whole conference room as the people stopped after seeing me made my heart beaten faster. I slowly looked at the Student Government president together with the popular band members of our school, who were all confusedly looking at me as their lips are parted.

I closed my eyes for a second before bravely turning the knob and get out of the room. I shouted my embarrassed apology as I ran on the corridor with my breath slowly losing.

You can do it, Jer—

"Jergen Stonehurst. You are late for the second time." Miss Eleazar said as she looked at her wristwatch and sharply gazed back at me. I bent my head down as I tightly held my hand bag.

"I'm really, really sorry, Miss." I shyly said. She slammed her stick on the table and signalled me to sit down in my chair.

I immediately walked to the center of the row and stared at Alyssa who is now looking at me as I walk towards her direction.

I immediately sat down beside her and pressed my lips not to talk, while Miss Eleazar is still looking at our side before she continued her class with us.

After my long wait for Miss Eleazar's discussion, I immediately stood up, the moment she said that our class is finally dismissed.

Fixing the things I put out from my bag and get it back inside, Alyssa looked at me as she also does the same and poked my arms.

"Why are you late? It's Monday today, and you know Miss Eleazar, right? She doesn't like Monday lates! Did the reason is visiting your mother?" She asked as she hanged her bag on her shoulder. I slowly looked at her and bit my lower lip.

"Actually, no. I will just be going to visit her later, and the real reason why, is... I passed out late last night because of watching movies," I shyly said. Well, I don't really like excusing nonsense stuffs—but it was the truth, and I can't lie.

I hate lying.

Alyssa then smirked at me as she shook her head. She held my wrist as we finally get out of the room and walked going to our next class.

"It seemed like you're being hopeless romantic now, you want to meet your soulmate already?" She asked. I just shook my head at her and laughed. Well, I don't have plans to, actually.

Alyssa is my one and only friend in this school since I enrolled last three years ago. I was already in my fourth year of my high school life now, and it's fun that she doesn't get sick of my face.

Well, she had lots of friends except from me, so that may be the reason why. But what I love with Alyssa is she always choose me over her big circle of friends.

It's not that I am being selfish, but I just love the feeling of being special, even just with her and my mother.

Seriously, I lived in a life only with few people to make me feel special, and I think... Them two are the only people who actually does care for me.

My father died when I just got born, said by my mother. She said that he died from a bus accident as she is going to the hospital after mom finally born me.

And after that, since my dad's family doesn't like my mom to be my dad's wife, they never checked on us—not even me, until now, and that's how tragic my life is.

But, anyway! My life is just fine by now, or maybe. My mother is finally recovering from her severe heart attack, and I also have Alyssa to lean on when I have problems.

She's the best friend I've ever had. And she's the only one I became friends with, anyway.

Well, people always avoids me since I was a kid. They said that I am weird and boring—when it was actually a fact, that's why I never forced them to be with me anymore. I started loving my life, being alone—and now finally contented to have a friend like Alyssa, maybe it was already enough for a simple teen like me.

"Is that your stomach?" I quickly looked at Alyssa when she asked me out of the blue, and we both stopped from walking. I looked down when I heard something groaning in my tummy.

"... O-Oh my God, I am sorry, Alyssa." I shyly said and panicked. She chuckled for a bit.

"Jergen, it's fine. You're just hungry, okay? Come on, go to the cafeteria and buy something you can eat for your breakfast, because I know that you didn't eat at your house yet. I'm going to wait for you in the room. I'll just text you when the teacher finally came, when you're not yet there." She explained. I just scratched my head and nodded, I am actually hungry.

"Alright, thank you. I'll be quick," I answered. She nodded and even waved at me before I finally ran to the other way, going to the cafeteria.

There are people inside and are having their snacks, that's why it lessened my nervousness of being late—again!

I stopped in front of the burger stall and bought a prepared one. Eating my burger, I am rushing on the corridor when I received a message from Alyssa that the teacher will finally come after five minutes.

Running like a chicken that's being chased by a dog, I turned to another way as I tried putting all the big bunch of burger in my mouth. I almost choked, but I tried my best not to, as I still run.

It was like a slo-mo when I turned to another path, but I fell down when my feet hit a sticky peal of a banana that made me bumped the cold floor of the corridor as I vomit the food from my mouth.

Everybody in the corridor is laughing at me that repeated continuously inside my mind as my heart beaten faster in my mixed emotions.

I looked at the four guys at my side, near at the door of the room I should get in. I was slowly standing up from falling down when my phone, again, rang, and found my next teacher walking from the other path of the corridor, going to our classroom.

I jumped up and forget about the pain in my knees and with all my speed and strength, I ran towards the door and even bumped to one of the four guys at the side of our room.

"I'm sorry!" I shouted and even touched his arms, but I immediately removed it and ran inside. Alyssa is attentively waiting for me, and gestured me to be more fast when she saw me get in the room.

I sat beside her and leaned on the back rest of the chair as I heavily breathed. I made my hand as a fan to ease the heat after my adrenaline rush, and bend m head up to give more air in my neck.

"Are you alright? Did you see the Heart Archer's outside our room? They were chilling there, look how aggressive our classmates is," Alyssa said and pointed at the group of girls in front of us who were all looking at the door as they screech.

I suddenly remembered the guy I bumped in before I finally get in the room and even touched his arms. My eyes widened, and I covered my mouth as I look at the hand I used to touch the guy.

Oh my God!

"Why is your face like that? Is there something bad happened?" Alyssa asked and shakes my shoulders. I looked at her with my big wide eyes and showed her my trembling hand.

"I... I think I just bumped into one of them and... And even touched his shoulder..." I said with my mind still loading.

Oh no, the Heart Archer's are very boastful and feels like they were royalties, but they are not. They hate being touched or talked—or bugged by random people they aren't closed with, and some who does was punished with that invalid reason!

Goodness... Why did I even do that?

I should've been careful!

We both covered my mouth when we heard the room's door opened. I immediately hide under my chair to think that it was one of the Heart Archer's and was about to confront me, but to my surprise, an authoritative voice called my name.

"Miss Stonehurst, you don't have to hide anymore because I saw you moved. Why are you under the table?" I closed my eyes in frustration before slowly standing up to show up myself with all of them who were now silently looking at me.

"I'm sorry, ma'am. I just get something under my table," I excused and awkwardly laughed.

Why am I being paranoid at all?
