Chapter 1

He was sitting and staring inside the relatively small and hot dungeon where he was destined for almost half of a day, the crimes are now slowing down according to their Chief, but he was unaware that he meant not to inform to him that there were lot of cases to handle only to promote his son in his same rank.

"SPO1 Donovan! Is it good to just sit there and do nothing, huh?" Gregorio teased him. He just shrugged, somehow he had respect for his superiors so, he decided to just keep quiet.

Due to boredom, he suddenly thought of the cases that have not been resolved yet. He stood up quickly and was about to go when suddenly, Marino blocked him.

"Where are you going kid?" he asked and even glared at him. He just sighed as he thought of what to say next.

"I'll make you some coffee," he said. Marino looked at him with doubt but later on, he bought his alibi and got convinced. A mischievous smile flashed on Marino's face, the naughty cop.

"That's what I want from you, Donovan! You inevitably impress me," some of their colleagues laughed.

Again, he just threw a shrug before heading to the other hallway. Storage room is really his intention and not brewing of Marino's coffee. There are lots of files of unresolved cases wherein he can kill his boredom.

He peek at the policemen who had been chitchatting and when he made sure that they are really busy, he slowly turned the door knob then entered. He was exposed to a bunch of papers that he thought had not been touched for a long time.

First, he scan the papers on his right side. Most are only minor cases. He put them back and then went to his left side. While he was scanning the documents he could not help but to laugh, because even a rat on a food has a case there. His face immediately became serious when he caught the attention of a case he had been looking for a long time. He was slightly taken aback by the pictures, up until now he can't believe that this happened to his family while he was not at home. He clenched his fist and greeted his teeth. He's deeply mad. Mad enough that he also wants to kill the suspect behind that crime, but of course he knows that emotions will only bring him to a wrong way. What he needs is justice that's why he maintain his composure and carefully read every details and story of such a case.

According to the article, on July 23, 2010, it was three in the morning when the family got murdered. Two of the couple's children were both bathing in their own blood while hanging from the ceiling.

Meanwhile, the mother died with her eyes wide-open and seemed even more shocked when the suspect strangled him with a bobwire. Their father was found naked as blood continued to flow from his amputated penis. The said crime had the same way of killings as the crime today, but until now it still seems puzzling of whom the culprit is.

It was as if a cold water had been poured on him when he saw their chief in front of the door, for a moment there was silence between them.

"C-chief," even if he look arrogant , when it comes to their Chief, he's still nervous.

"Let's talk." he said not with a cold tone but in authoritative manner. He just headed as he followed it out of the storage room.

As they passed the policemen, he could clearly see in their eyes how they pity him, something he disliked. He clenched his fist as he went straight to the chief's office. He immediately sat down on the chair that is nearest to him.

"Let's be Frank here, SPO1 Donovan, I know you really want to solve that case but you are just a beginner and you do not have much experience," he said. His senses twitched for no apparent reason.

"But I can and I will make sure I can solve that," the chief laughed slightly. He seems to be decompensated on what

  he had said.

"Can you solve it? Are you kidding? Eh, even those veterans can't solve that, and you're still just starting out?" he felt annoyed by its sarcasm.

"Is that so? 'Eh why do you—"

"You what?" the chief was really trying his patience but he remains calm and decided not to argue again because it certainly doesn’t have a good destination either.

"Nothing, Sir. If you don't mind, what are we really going to talk about? Is that all about the past?" he even struggled to look at him, but he immediately withdrew it.

"Yes, but aside from that I want you to take a look with these pictures," he laid out on the table the pictures of women wearing revealing clothes.

"What do you think they are?" only one plays on his mind regarding what is in the picture.

"Prostitutes," if you add up, you can almost see the sensitive parts of a woman's body. It is also noteworthy that they have men with them so it is unlikely that they will be paid off.

"You're right!" he did not know why the old man seemed satisfied with his answer. He had a bad feeling about those smiles.

"Since 1998, the town of Tondo became the 'Red light District' since many women sell their bodies there. This Red light District seems to be the town of happiness and is still a mystery to the government agencies and even to us, police, of whom is the head sindicate behind that illegal transactions. Now, SPO1 Donovan, I want you to investigate and resolve this case as soon as possible. If you manage to solve it, then I will let you surf in the police database and be part of the investigation team for Donovan family's case. Deal?" he looked at him with a smile, he did not hesitate to agree.

  "Deal."

If this is the only way to be part of that investigation that he wanted to solve, then it's now or never.
