Introducción

There's no such thing as "the one" for us. There's plenty of fish in the sea and probably a quarter of them is the right one for you. Everyone can show us a different version of love but not all of them are compatible with ours. I love them both but I need to let go of one of them. That person deserves to be loved too.

Chapter 1

It's the first day of college school. Everyone is too enthusiastic. It's the opportunity for me to meet new friends so I won't stick around my annoying best friend Zara Lopes. I'm kidding. We have been best friends since we were five years old and now we're both 18. She's the only family I have since my parents died in the tragic fire accident five months ago.

"OMG girl! Is that what you're going to wear?" Zara came inside my room without knocking. She always does this. She saw me wearing a white polo with puff sleeves, a pair of flare jeans, a pair of white sneakers, a black mini shoulder bag, and a few pieces of gold jewelry.

"Yes. Why? Is this too much?" I asked her because I can see right in her face that there's something wrong. "Tell me. You know I'm conscious when it comes to fashion."

"Why would you like to take a course in fashion designing?" She asked me with a doubtful face. "I mean you're too professional. You should be a fashion teacher, not a student. Your outfit matches your brunette hair, brown eyes, and fair skin. Wait, you missed something." She's walking around me while thinking simultaneously. "Ah! Red lipstick! You would look so chic!"

"Zara, we're not going to the party or club. Nudist pink is safe." I grabbed the beige pink lipstick and put it on my full luscious lips. It's safer than the red one.

"But what if Primo Evans is there? You should look bombshell when he sees you."

As much as I want to pass over my cheating ex-boyfriend, I can't. My best friend keeps on reminding me of him. I can't blame her. She trusted him too that he wouldn't hurt me.

Primo was my boyfriend for two years. He dumped me when I was seventeen. We're both brunettes but he chose that blonde girl. I got down on my knees to beg him but it didn't work. I fought for him and gave everything I could but in the end, I lost him. No. He lost me.

"Unless I'm a blonde." I looked at Zara with a serious a mini disappointed face. "Anyway, we can't be late especially since this is the first day of school. Let's go". I grabbed my bag and Zara followed after me.

"Ok. We will find another Primo. I mean the better version." Zara mocked.

--- school ---

"Have you found your room? I'm feeling vague." We're both looking for our first class. The hallway is too crowded and big. We don't know anyone here except for ourselves.

"I haven't. My first class is English Literature. How about you?". Zara asked me. We are still walking and looking for rooms. If you're going to ask if we asked the strangers, yeah, of course, we did. However, we're best friends for reasons. One of them is to be dumb in locations and directions.

"But you know what, I've seen so many cute guys the seconds I stepped into this school lately. Maybe one of them is your soulmate or mine." She sighed. "I am gonna love this."

"My first class is Psychology," I answered her question. "And, are you a walking Tinder or an offline cupid?."

Zara downloaded seven dating apps for me. I had fun chatting with them but I couldn't find the chemistry and the compatibility that I wanted. So, in the end, I uninstalled them or ghosted them if you want me to be rude.

"Hey. I'm Treyton Wright. I heard that you're looking for a psychology class. I'm heading there too. You wanna come with me?" A man approached us. I just couldn't speak and my face blushed when I saw him. His smile is so cute and those ocean blue eyes make him more alluring. Did I mention that he has dirty blonde hair?

"Ah. Yeah. Sure. I'm Amara Roberts. Amy for short. This my best friend Zara. We're freshmen." I startled. I couldn't resist his angelic face. I feel that my face is still blushing. I hope he doesn't see it.

"I see. I'm a senior here taking a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. We should go get into the class before we get late. I heard the professor is terror." He introduced himself more to us. He got humor too.

"Let's go," I replied. "I have a mini phobia in terror professor.

Treyton walked before us. I assume that there are butterflies in my stomach right now. After almost a year of being single, this is the first time that I feel too excited to identify someone. I hope he's available too.

"Did the universe require that brunettes and blondes must match?" Zara whispered. I understand what she's thinking. Conceivably the heaven compelled the earth. Brunettes for blondes and blondes for brunettes. That's why Primo, the brunette, went to the blonde chic. Now, I think I'm falling for one too.

--- class ---

We're seatmates. I feel that we're match made in heaven. Instead of listening to the class discussion, here I am. Daydreaming of our possible future.

"Ms. Roberts? Are you listening?" Professor Gomez asked. He hit the book on my armchair. I feel so anxious now.

"Yeah. What was the question again?" I tried not to be obvious. I shouldn't look oblivious. Not only this is my first day of class but also, Treyton's beside me.

***present time***

Treyton's beside me literally. He's been laying on the hospital bed for 15 years. He got into a car tragedy. I have no clue when he will wake up or if there's hope. I'm still holding to his words that he will marry me. He promised that.

"Amara. Amara. Amara." Mrs. Wright was trying to wake me up. "Honey, you should go home. You have an appointment with your client tomorrow. I can handle this."

"Mrs. Wright, Hi." I greeted her first. I'm still a little bit sleepy. "Have you eaten? I can order foods online."

"It's fine, honey. Don't worry. You should go home. Otherwise, your client would be mad at you." She smiled at me. Seeing her bright smile despite everything gives me hope. If his mom is not giving up, then why should I?

Before I walk past the door, I kissed Treyton's forehead. "I love you and I miss you so much." Those words are just for starters. I have so much to tell him. Like, I graduated and now I'm a successful fashion designer. He's my only hope to have a family and I wish that he will be the father of my children. Well, I haven't heard from my best friend, Zara. She moved to Australia with her parents nine years ago and she started her own family. I miss her too.

"Mrs. Wright, I will go now." I gave her my last goodbye for the day.

*** flashback ***

It's break time now. Zara and I are seating at the cafeteria table eating our lunches. I can't say that they're flavorful. I doubt this is the effect of the butterflies.

"So, how are you and that Mr. Blonde?" She's more excited than I am. It's like he got her vote for me. "Did he ask you to go on a date?"

"He didn't. As of now." I responded to her enthusiasm. I kind of wish that he will ask me to have a romantic dinner with him. Flowers, candles, and sweet dance under the full moon. I like to experience that again. I hope it's him but I think I shouldn't keep it higher than it should be.

"Wait. Is that Treyton? Who is that girl with him?" Zara was curious. "OMG! I think you need to search for another cute guy. He's taken and it's obvious."

Treyton walked into the canteen with a girl wrapping in his arm. She's gorgeous too and I can't deny it. I assume she's popular here in school. Her face speaks of my insecurities. No wonder if she's his girlfriend. On my first day of school, I broke my heart, and the butterflies are dead.

"You're finished eating. Let's go" I commanded Zara even though she isn't finished yet. I feel so disappointed. Why would I think that he would like me the same way I feel for him?

"Hey. Amara!" Before we walked away, someone called my name. It was Treyton. He's smiling at me again. "Have you had your lunch? We can have it together."

"We have eaten. We are two minutes late. We need to go." I mini lied. I needed to. Zara is honestly two minutes late while I have no class an hour after the break time.
