Chapter 1

Valentine

It's always freezing in the Underrhelm contrary to popular misconception. How is possible my skins on fire the moment I look at you. "She is mesmerizing. I don't often see her fire so peaceful." I thought as I studied her.

"Why can't I bring myself to tell you, is it my eternal torture?" I whispered aloud to myself, my hand inching ever closer toward her.

She was the color of ripe strawberries though her accents were pure obsidian. The hair that flung around her pillow and her sweet supple lips I wanted to taste. "No" a voice within me screamed.

I raised my hand back behind me and shot it forward across her ass cheek. It had become exposed from under the silk sheet that she was sleeping in.

"WAKE UP!" I shouted. Before I could register what had taken place, she was standing up on the bed in front of me. Her eyes boring into me alight with a smoky black rage. Her hair clung to her breasts, but that was all that my eyes couldn't see.

Before I could drink in all her voluptuous curves a blade plunged into my chest. The tip hovering over my heart. The force sent me tumbling into the armchair behind me.

"VALENTINE!" She screamed through gritted teeth.

Rayna

Ushering my wings back into my body, I strutted away and slipped into my kimono.

"V, are you so stupid as to piss me off first thing in the morning?" I asked trying to keep my rage from beheading him.

"I'm sorry boss, you were so ugly, drooling and snoring like some kind of wildebeest. I had to put an end to it." he stated matter-of-factly, ending with a coy smile.

A twinge of arousal slithered up my spine as I lit the cigarette between my lips. Valentine was a big demon. 6 ft. at least and his cotton black T could barely hold back his heaving muscles. His cerulean skin was only accented by his metallic sliver eyes and hair. "We should devour him." the voice inside my head goaded.

"I believe that like I believe in the bicornaclops." I snorted as I perched myself in front of my vanity mirror. While collecting half of my hair into a messy bun atop my head, I never broke eye contact with his reflection.

"Two can play at this game V." I thought to myself behind another drag from my cigarette. I slowly stood and made my way to him. I poked the hilt of the dagger jutting out of his chest making him wince.

"You know I am a succubus," I leaned next to his ear, "I can be any wildebeest you want me to be." I finished with a wicked smile.

"Maybe I should see who it is you desire." I teased inches from his lips.

"Would I be appalled or flattered?." I barked.

V then ripped the blade from his chest, his wound healing. I could see from his agitated face, I won our little duel. I exhaled smoke in his face and extinguished my cigarette.

"What are you doing here anyway?" I asked from inside my closet.

"You're late and demons are lining up outside of Umbra. They cannot be appeased until you get there. Any more and Luci will be waking you instead."

Lucifer was only worried about keeping his worker bees sated. Anyone who hindered in that would be eliminated. As the best in the business though, I could get away with a lot more than most.

"Late, I'm never late. Everyone else is early and Luci can kiss my ass." One who did not fear the great leader, was one to be feared.

"Still, I have stuff to do Ray. Hurry up would ya." his voice trailing off as he left my bedroom and closed the door.

I decided to wear a sports bra and leggings with a cropped hoodie to the club. My professional attire was waiting for me there. I still needed to do my make up before leaving though. A little eyebrow shaping, a little lip gloss and as always a smokey eye with winged eyeliner.

I looked at all the angles of my face and grimaced. "Why does that idiot even hang around if he thinks I'm so ugly. He's stupid and I don't care anyway." I tried to convince myself. I slammed my fists on my vanity and sauntered into he kitchen. V was pouring me coffee into my favorite to-go thermos. It had a white demon cat on it that was flipping you off and it said 'Fluff you'.

I gave my loyal companion a pat on the head. "Good morning my beautiful Edgar. Is there a reason you didn't inform me I had an intruder?" I purred. Edgar was the size of a house cat and had three red eyes all staring at me intently.

"Hungry!" He squawked. "Tsk" I frowned. V chuckled startling me. It was like warm honey when he laughed. I went the fridge and grabbed his favorite, human liver. I tossed it towards Edgar who flapped his wings and swallowed it whole.

"You're lucky you're cute." I chuckled as I grabbed my coffee and purse, heading out the door, V right on my heels.

A few moments later we landed in front of Club Umbra where a line of angry demons were clawing to get in. There, holding the flood gates closed, was Osiris. Even bigger than V, he was a towering 7 ft. demon and dark as the shadows. His eyes were like pure sunlight along with his hair and nails. He had a symbol carved in his forehead of the same vibrant yellow. This mark meant he was tied to these grounds. His sole purpose was to protect it. He had another form, one I preferred, a giant hell hound similar to a Doberman.

"Good morning Osiris." I smiled.

"It's 6pm." he stated plainly. I squinted at him, "Good evening Osiris." I tried again.

"Good evening boss, you have a visitor in your office." he reported as he opened the massive glass doors for us.

"Fuck....V have Darci bring my drink to my office." I barked.

"Of course boss." he answered.

I stomped up the stairs past the clubs receptionist and kicked in the doors of my office. A silhouette of great ornate horns and smoke greeted me.

"Camille." I uttered in a gravely tone.
