Chapter 1

"Ouch, that smarts!"

Kim Longman landed with a thud, rubbing his behind, and just as he struggled to rise, a familiar song singing, "I love you, love you, just like a rat loves rice…" out of nowhere, came to his ears.

Kim blinked in confusion for a moment.

That song... wasn't it a hit from ages ago? Why was it still playing now?

Though puzzled, Kim took out his phone to hail a ride to the hospital for a quick check-up, worrying this fall had any serious consequences.

Yet when he looked at his phone, he was rooted to the spot.

What happened to his newly bought Apple? Why was he holding a flip phone?

And this seemed to be the very first phone he owned years back.

Stunned, Kim quickly glared at a full-length mirror in a shop by the side of the road.

He saw he now looked somehow different, and so did his clothes.

There he had changed back to a younger version of himself, of the time he was still at school.

Until this instant, Kim realized he had traveled back through time!

A simple slip on a snowy path had directly sent him back to ten years ago!

He was now a student again in 2006.

"Thank you, God!" Kim cried out in ecstasy, arms outstretched to the heavens, "I am back!"

He raised his head and shouted loudly into the sky.

This erratic behavior attracted attention of those around him who viewed him as a lunatic.

They could not understand what happened to Kim, who of course paid no heed to these onlookers.

Once in his previous life, as the financial manager of a project, Kim had been wrongly accused of tax evasion for his corrupt boss, landing him in prison and leaving him out of work and drowning in debt.

That made life after his release was barely survivable and led to his suicide, but every time he was about to finish himself, he was stopped by others.

During that time, Kim was overwhelmed by all kinds of dunners demanding debt payments.

Eventually his wife couldn't take it anymore and abandoned him for good.

At that time, Kim would always think if he could live his life again, he would never allow himself to end up like that.

Fabulously, now he had that chance--a fresh start!

"Ten years ago, I did not know you, you were not mine, we were still..."

A sudden buzz jolted Kim from his thoughts. He found the flip phone in his hand displaying a name: Miranda Lake.

Seeing the name, the smile on Kim's face faltered for a moment.

"Never thought we could reunite," he murmured as he accepted the call and held the phone to his ear.

"Kim, we're almost there. Have you arrived yet?"

The gentle voice of Miranda greeted him through the phone.

"I'm nearly there," Kim replied with no idea where he was supposed to go, but he thought this way to respond was undoubtedly correct.

After all, he couldn't keep a clear memory of every things from so long ago.

However, one thing that was clear to him was that Miranda had no love for him.

She merely considered him as a fallback, a lapdog.

"Okay, hurry up then," Miranda replied, hanging up abruptly.

After hanging up, Kim was in no rush but was drawn to a shop by the roadside.

Miranda rushed calling him just to make him treat her to dinner.

A decade ago on this very day, he had been on his way to buy a lottery ticket—a ticket that would win the jackpot, which was interrupted by Miranda's demanding him to treat her to a meal, leaving him with lifetime regret.

Holding his mind, Kim looked up at the heaven again, highly grateful to God above, who not just bestowed a new started life but even also the awaiting fortune upon him!
