Introduction

Blaze was a god tethering on the edge of darkness that threatened to tear apart the gods' race. To curb it in, the higher gods give him his destined mate, but he rejects her at every turn. Each day spent away from her increased the darkness inside of him. In a war against the gods and demons, he must make a choice whether to accept his mate or to let the darkness totally consume him. Note: This is a reverse harem book. P.s. I suck at writing a synopsis, but do give the story a try

Chapter 1

EMBER

"Ember, come on. We'll be late if you don't hurry," I heard my mom yell from downstairs as I hauled my bags with me. You might be wondering where I was going with my bags. I was going to stay with my mom's close friend and attend a fancy school like the children of the upper echelons.

Nightbridge high was a school for gods and goddesses. Yes. You heard right. Gods and goddesses. Speaking of which, I was a goddess of beauty. Or at least that was what my mom told me. Unlike Mom, when I looked in the mirror, I didn't see the beautiful goddess I was supposed to be. I didn't even possess the grace and beauty of other goddesses that I'd seen. At my old school, the girls laughed at me, mocked me.

Many people might see it as an unfortunate thing, but I see it as a blessing. The beauty charm allowed men to be easily allured. Some of them even fall in love with the woman - but of course it's fake. Many had fallen victim of this and they ended up being the slave of the goddess. Some had died through this. It was similar to the powers that the succubi demons possessed.

"Ember, were you getting lost in your head again?" Mom according as I hit the bottom of the stairs. "Felicity is waiting, and she's not a very patient woman."

I rolled my eyes. Typical Mom. She was always one for getting to places early. I was pretty sure Felicity hadn't set a time for us to get to her place. "Relax, Mom. I was just checking to make sure i didn't leave anything behind."

Mom burst into tears abruptly, pulling me into her arms. "I'm going to miss you so much."

I wrapped my own arms around her. "I'll miss you, too, but we're not departing just yet. We're going to drive to Felicity's place first."

Mom pulled back with a smile. "Let's go."

BLAZE

"Honey, can I come in?" Mom asked as she breezed into my room making me roll my eyes. She was inside my room already, so I didn't see the point of her asking.

"You're inside already so I don't see the point of you asking.  What is it you want?" I asked tossing my phone that I'd been pressing to the side.

She cleared her throat. "So, there's a friend of mine who lost her husband. She's been finding it really hard to take care of herself and her daughter ever since, so I lent her a hand and told her her daughter could stay here. I know you don't like people in your space, but I had no choice. I informed your brothers already."

"It's cool. As long as she stays away from me, there won't be any problem. Is there anything else? I'd like to catch some sleep."

Mom smiled, patting my head. "Thank you, son. They'll be here in an hour. Let me go prepare things for her."

EMBER

"Mom," I hissed. "You said house like it was normal sized. This is a mansion. I don't look like I'm fit to be here. Am I even dressed properly?"

Mom threw her head back in laughter. "Stop it, Em. You'll be fine. Felicity is a really nice woman," she said as we walked to the front door while I tried to haul my stuffs along. As if sensing our presence, the door was pulled open by a butler.

"Ms. Felicity awaits your presence. Leave your bags. They shall be taken to your room," he said, his face expressionless.

Mom gave him a smile. "Thanks." We stepped into the foyer and my mouth dropped open. The inside was even more beautiful than the outside. The cream colored walls complemented the brown table. The paintings on the wall and the vases that decorated the table probably cost a lot of money. To the other side was also a mirror.

A woman who I assumed was Felicity climbed down the stairs with a huge smile on her face. "It's been a long time, Marie." They both embraced each other tightly before she turned to me and engulfed me in her arms. "Oh, Ember. It's been so long. You were only a little girl whem we I saw you last. You've grown so much."

I smiled awkwardly. "Thanks. Mom told me a lot about you. Thanks for letting me stay here."

"Oh, don't mention it. Your mother helped me when I was in need to. I'm just repaying a favour. That said, why don't you go upstairs. Your room is the third one on the left."

I smiled going up the stairs like she had said. I opened the door to my new room and I grinned. Mom had probably told her that my favorite color was purple because that was exactly how the walls were painted. There was queen sized bed in the middle and on it were white and purple pillows. Like the pillows, the sheets and comforter were white and purple respectively. On either sides of the bed, nightstands were placed with lamps on them. There were two doors inside the room. I assumed one led to the bathroom, and the other, probably a walk-in closet. I threw myself back on the bed with laugh. Who would have thought that I would be in a place like this? The girls back at my old school would probably shit bricks if they found out. Maybe living here wouldn't be so bad after all.

"So, you're the new girl," a masculine voice said making me sit up on the bed. At the open doorway, a guy leaned against the door frame. I couldn't help but drool as I took him in. He was really tall. He would have no difficulty towering over me. He had golden blonde hair that fell over his light green eyes with flecks of gold that held mischief in them.

"Hey. I'm Ember. Who are you?" I asked sliding off the bed when I finally managed to stop drooling over him.

The corner of his mouth tilted up in a smirk. "Blake. Felicity's son."

"I didn't know she had a son." Apparently, Mom had forgotten to mention that.

"She has three. Blaze is in his room. He's my twin. I suggest you don't look for his trouble and stay away from him."

That was all he said before he walked away, leaving me confused. It wasn't like I'd go out seeking his trouble. I pretty much kept to myself all the time. If they didn't also bother, then I'm sure we wouldn't have any problems.
