Chapter 1

  Gio's POV

Yesterday, a Saturday night at Club 89 packed with wild partygoers, mostly college students whose definition of “let’s unwind” is actually “let’s get wasted until we throw up the last piece of our sanity” once again took over the whole club. I shook my head as I recalled how I was almost harassed by a drunk woman.

“Hey, handsome! You look familiar, uhh can I call you mine?” A drunk petite girl said looking at me with her sleepy eyes while attempting to hold me.

I smiled a little feeling awkward like where do these kids get their confidence from? I mean, I can’t even strike a conversation with someone I like without hyperventilating, how gay it is right? But yeah, I always chicken out even before trying.

And it is ironic how confident I become as the CEO of my parent’s company, but acting like a high school boy in front of the girl I liked ever since puberty hit me. Well, she’s the only one who makes me dumb effortlessly.

I was back from my reverie when my phone rang, it was my secretary Ashton, who happened to be my friend back in college.

“Gio,” Whenever he calls me by my nickname it only means two things, either he wants to get wasted, or he wants to annoy me.

“What?” I picked up my car key then went to my closet to get a jacket since it’s already cold outside. I glanced at my phone to check the time, it's already 9:00 in the evening.

“Let's drink,” Yes. I knew him too well.

“What about it now? Your girl broke up with you again?” I mean, he’s been in an on-and-off relationship with his girlfriend, and it kind of annoys me because I became his drinking buddy whenever they break up.

“Yes, Mr. Fortune Teller,” he laughed. “How about you predict what will happen to your love life? Until when will you be a coward and tell Mili how secretly obsessed you are---”

I dropped the call not wanting to hear the truth right now. I went downstairs and saw the brute outside smiling like an idiotic animal.

“---ever since high school up to this day forward,” he cackled, continuing what he started. I raised my middle finger as I went to my car.

He opened the passenger’s seat still laughing his ass off, enjoying me getting annoyed. I looked flatly at him telling him to stop. He immediately gets what I meant, raising both his hands, surrendering.

“No wonder why Mandy broke up with you again, you annoying brute.” He held his chest acting like a wounded animal. I started the engine, while he connected his phone to my car’s Bluetooth for his heartbreak playlist.

“But seriously bro, you never even tried to introduce your damn existence to her. I know she won’t probably care, but at least try right?” He said it trying to convince me that he’s serious, but suppressing his smile.

“As if I didn’t actually try it you fucker!” He’s obviously pissing me as his diversion from what he’s actually feeling. This idiot.

We arrived at this “underrated” bar as Ashton described it. Only a few people are present, and most of them are adults---businessmen. Finally, no wild kids.

“I saw your IG story last night, you went to Club 89 without telling me?!” Ashton complained like a banshee when we were sitting on the bar island.

“Two scotch please,” I asked the bartender, then shifted my seat to Ashton.

“Yeah,” I avoided his suspicious gaze, as I sipped my drink.

“Hmm… What will Mr. Giovanni Santarelli do in a crowded, loud, and wild club? Lemme guess! He’s stalking someone again!” then he blurted out his annoying laugh, like how the hell he’s more irritating when he’s broken-hearted?

“Shut up,” I refuse to deny or confirm anything anymore because it won’t make sense arguing with this animal.

Yes, I was expecting her to be there because I know her club preference, she always wants the ear-splitting noise from the crowd mixed with booming music. But surprisingly, she wasn’t there for the first time. I mean, she’s always there every Friday or Saturday.

I’m not stalking her okay? It was just that when I first went to Club 89 was also the first moment I saw her after she trained as a model. I remembered how lovesick I was when my eyes went to her.

It was my first time going to Club 89 for their soft opening to support my friend who is the owner. I endured the roaring sound coming from the people, and the wild beating of stereos. I even struggled to go to the bar island since the club is jam-packed.

I greeted my friend, then congratulated him on his club’s success. He offered me drinks, and out of courtesy I took it, I tried calling my brother Gael to go here, but he was out of reach. So I was drinking alone while looking at the sea of people when suddenly my eyes went to a familiar figure I missed seeing for three years.

Cliche how the surroundings started to get blurry as my 20-20 vision focused at her as she strides her way like a model she should be. Her shoulder-length blonde hair highlighted with brown was softly curled added to her immaculate yet intimidating face, that resting bitch face was the main reason why! I am losing my confidence every time she’s around the parameter.

She’s wearing a champagne silk dress that hugged her modelesque body paired with her signature 7-inch stiletto. As I lost my thoughts mesmerized by her beauty, I was caught off guard when she went straight to where I was!

I turned around and looked at the liquors instead. I can definitely feel her presence nearing me, trying not to freak out. I drank on my glass making my system go back to its normal phase.

I unconsciously looked sideways and our eyes met. Motherfucker. Like how should I react to this?! I averted my gaze, freaking out deep inside.

I know it was only a what? A millisecond look! but here I am wanting to throw up because of nervousness.

When she went to the dancefloor, it became my cue to breathe the hell out of me. I looked at where she is and saw her dancing with a guy. I am aware of how outgoing and confident she is that I understand when men flock to her, it's just that I am hoping I was one of those guys.

I was hoping that I will be able to get close to her and have the chance to dance with her.

“Bro,” I was back to reality when Ashton slightly jabbed me to get my attention.

“What?” I finished my drink then ordered another one.

“Look,” He even whispered it to me, as if someone might hear him. He was looking at the entrance.

I did too. How I wish I did not.

I did expect to see her yesterday, but fate chose not to. Maybe because fate planned something more---more painful.

Coward as I am, I looked down immediately when I saw her with her rumored boyfriend, who kissed her and guided her to walk in our direction.
