My name is Hericane Montgomery a first year college student. I stared at the window waiting for my class to end. Growing up without any friends around me makes me more uncomfortable thinking that maybe I'm the only person that is experiencing this situation right now. My Dad died when I was 8 years old and since then my mom has become more strict and had a hectic schedule on her work, she needs to work hard to be able to support my needs and wants but seeing her working hard a lot makes me feel that she doesn't care to me at all.
School's over but that's not the hardest thing I had to go through the day, I hate this street! It's full of people rushing and shoving me as they're trying to pass by me, for me that's the worst part of the day.
I was walking with my head bent down, carrying some books and I was observing the feet that kept showing up one after another.
I kept whispering to myself that this would end as soon as I reach my house, but I was wrong, I accidentally bumped into a guy and due to my mistake all of my books were thrown on the floor, I was hoping for a hand to help me pick up my books on the side road but there were none, I disappointedly stared at the guy which I bumped with, but he just continued walking and didn't even bother to take a look at me, I somehow felt that he was familiar but I didn't dare myself to follow him, instead I rushed inside the video game store and dashed to the counter to ask information about the poster that is displayed outside.
“Hi Hericane!” the shop assistant greeted me
“Hi Dexter, I just want to ask some info about that game” I pointed him a large poster of a virtual game named Enchanted, he smiled at me and said “You have great taste when it comes to VR equipment, Enchanted is a newly released game which is considered as one of the most top-selling game equipment around the town! Would you like to buy it?”
I stared at the poster for a while and hesitated for a minute, my mom doesn't want me to play games because she thinks it only makes me a lot more self-contained person. I was about to leave when Dexter shouted “Enchanted is now in limited stock, for sure you'll regret not having the chance to play this amazing game” he stared at me then winked. Damn this guy, he knows my weakness, I found myself on the counter waiting for my equipment to be wrapped, while waiting for Dexter to make sure that my equipment is in good condition I decided to check some manga when I accidentally stepped in front of the storage room
“Why is this door open?” I asked myself, I was about to go away when I saw the guy earlier who bumped me he was inside talking with Yamaguchi, the hottest guy in our university!
“I guess a little peek won't harm me” I whispered
“You have to tell me where to find those artifacts Mix!” Yamaguchi said
“Why are you so interested in that game?” the guy asked
“And why do you keep on staying away from me!” he exclaimed, It was seen on Yamaguchi's face that he is already pissed by that guy earlier but he was trying his best not to burst into anger.
“Hericane your equipment is done, ” Dexter shouted from the counter
“Thank you I'll go there right away, ” I answered, I was about to go to the counter but I immediately hide behind the racks when I heard some footsteps coming from behind.
I tried my best not to make any noise behind these racks full of manga but I failed because he caught me, I almost fell on the ground but a strong grip prevented me from falling... It was him... “So you also bought this game, ” his sweet-scented perfume covered the whole area of mine and I was left with no words for he cornered me on this cold dusty wall, I was about to utter but then Yamaguchi interrupted our scene “Leave Hericane alone, there's a lot of important things that we still have to deal with,” he said coldly I stared at the guys face earlier he looks disappointed “I'm sorry for what I did outside, give me your number I'll treat you for a dinner tomorrow, ” he said
I was stunned, earlier he was that guy who didn't bother to take a look at me when my belongings were all thrown on the road, but now he's asking for forgiveness and even want to have my number.
“Here's my number take it, I'll be waiting for your message, ” he gave me a piece of paper where his name and number is written on it he even left a short message “you look cute, but peeping on the boys, while they are talking, aren't, ”
I can feel that my cheeks were burning red at that time, but then I checked the paper once again and there I saw his name... Mixolydian.
I looked at our wooden door before opening it, my virtual reality is bigger than my backpack so that it'd be hard for me to hide it from my mom.
“I'm home,” I said when I entered the house but no one answered, I put all my books on the kitchen table and checked the notes on the fridge “I'll be having a business trip for four days, there's money on your room pick it up and buy those things that I listed on the piece of paper that was placed at the table,”
I stared at the grocery list and sighed... Mom will be gone for four days, which means I'm free to play Enchanted without being caught!
