Chapter 1

In a dark and dusty train alley one cold evening near a busy artifacts market that smelt of dust and wet donkey sat Axil on one of the train tracks with a dirty coloured doll and a rusty piece of metal.

Doodling on the doll's body.

"I knew she'd be late"

he attests in a disappointed tone.

"But either ways, I still have you"

his gaze bores into the damaged beady eyes of the doll.

"What do you say we do?"

he listens cautiously for the doll's reply.

"We can't leave here, what if she finally comes?"

He pulls his hoodie over his head.

"You know how angry she can be when things don't go her way"

a sigh leaves his mouth as he continues scratching on the doll.

Not quite long after, a masculine figure appears at the entrance of the alley and charges towards Axil, still he didn't raise his eyes from his 'beautiful' doll, as he would occasionally compliment it.

"I'm sorry I'm a little late"

Berry says in an awkwardly deep voice for a female as she tucks her oversize shirt up to sit beside Axil.

"You're always late"

He raises his eyes from his doll and turns to Berry.

"No no no. Today wasn't my fault"

She protests as if nothing had happened, she would have made it on time.

Axil sighs drily waiting to hear her excuse this time.

"I ran into Ma-

"Did you tell him where you were going?"

Great concern fills his voice as he interrupts her.

"You could have simply let me finish"

She suggests, gritting her teeth at him, annoyance crossing her features.

"There was no need telling him where I was going. He didn't seem to care less"

She breaths and shovs her phone into her pocket.

"He just wanted me to give him some directions to the raspberry bush path. So I took care of it"

She shrugs.

"Ughh! can you just stop talking about Matt"

He urges, playfully smacking his doll on Berry's shoulder.

"Ouch! Don't hit me here"

She winces, pulling her long sleeves up to reveal amplified muscles and a deep cut on her shoulder.

"Ewwwww"

He repulses as he took a glance from the injury and nearly pukes on his doll.

"That's why I invited you over to the chill zone"

She gestures 'chill' in the air, not a bit bothered about the penetrating injury on her.

"What happened to your shoulder?"

Axil manages to squeeze out of him, not to annoy Berry.

"Yeah yeah it was Nana's gang"

She shrugs nonchalantly, peering into the injury to find out why Axil was so irritated at first sight but couldn't seem to decode it.

"Nana? Who's Nana?"

Axil quizzes.

"Quiet being silly now, Nana and her gang of dweebs attacked me yesterday on my way home from school"

She mentions looking outside when she thought she heard footsteps.

"Along that busy raspberry path and you know love raspberries so I went over to pluck some. I was still picking them out when I felt a hand on my shoulder and I turned to see Nana"

She narrates indifferently.

"But you'll never guess who I saw with her"

"Who?"

"Dacia!"

She exclaims with suprise and Axil gasps mockingly.

"Oh I never knew"

He quirks an eyebrow.

"Oh come off that. How was I supposed to know your predictions were right?"

She fishes for light bugs flying around in the air.

"It's simple. Because I'm never wrong"

He boasts.

"My grandma's spells are always right darling"

He pouts his lips with pride.

"Oh please don't rush about being all right about things and your predictions, what about that time you told me my sister was going be fine huh, what about that?"

She tugs down her sleeve roughly.

"Ok listen. I don't know what went wrong with that but what I told you was what I saw. Pulchritude never lies"

He raises his doll in the air.

"Poppycock"

She quips with a nonchalant wave.

"And hey why haven't you taken care of that injury. It's seems like some kind of disease might be living in there"

He shifts from her.

"Not possible, it happened just yesterday. And that's not the actual case for me right now"

Her face folds into a worried look.

"Why didn't I beat up those dweebs like a used to?"

Her shoulders slump.

"Hmm... can you tell me in details how it all went down?"

His brows furrow into a thoughtful shape.

"Well when i turned and saw Dacia with her, I was really surprised and the actual last thing I recall was Dacia's guilty face looking back at me. Then I felt about six hands holding me back with Nana in the middle, right beside me, sliding her thumb and index finger up and the spike edge of dagger before she buried the dagger in my shoulder."

Axil palms his face hard.

"How can you not get this?"

"What?"

Her worried face fades into a very innocent face, which likens unto a child.

"You weren't focused"

Berry nods in agreement.

"And you said all can remember is Dacia's guilty eyes looking back at you. So you were too surprised to even think about how to get yourself out their circle''

He states as simply as.

"Yeah yeah yeah"

Berry says sharply in understanding as she remembers a similar past event.

"See? I'm always right"

He boasts yet again.

She was about hitting his head when her phone vibrates in her pocket and she groans seeing the name on the screen..

"Dude it's my sister. I have to get home real quick"

She rousltes to her feet.

"Oh you mean Celestine?"

He meddles with his doll's hand.

"Dude of course"

She scoffs.

"Um can you tell her I said hi?"

He asks with an eerie tone.

"No you creep and let's go. Unless you want to walk home alone"

She threatens teasingly.

"Alright hold on hold on"

He quickly pushes off the train track and catches up with her at the exit.
