Chapter 1

The day is bright like every morning would be, activities were buzzing outside, people going on about their daily business except for one person. Jason stirred from his sleep and gradually opened his eyes. His room is still dim, thanks to blinds keeping the sunlight away. He sat up and listened, thinking of where the sound that woke him came from. He fell back into his bed and groaned in anger when he realized the noise is coming from his front door and it's his bell ringing. The continuous ringing doorbell woke him up from his sleep just when he was finally getting a good rest after a very late night. "Better just lie here, let the person get tired of ringing the bell and go" he thought to himself and covered his head with the second pillow, attempting to block out the sound and get a nice rest. "D*mn it" he cursed under his breath and stood up unwillingly, the doorbell Jud wouldn't stop ringing! He put on his rabbit fluffy slippers and dragged himself to the door, he opened it with disgust and anger. "Yes??" "Why didn't you open on time?" The other person smacked his arm. The slap seemed to wake him from his foggy self and he took a good look at the person glaring at him, a very good look. "Just the perfect way to start my day, I shouldn't have expected less" he grumbled and opened the door wide to let his mother in. He noticed she got company also but he didn't pay any attention to the person. "What's it mum?" He plopped himself on the sofa, "what requires you waking me up this early?" "If you mean eleven o' clock by early, no problem. It's your early anyway but it's good to know you still have your reasoning senses. I've come to ask you for a favor" his mother said, giving that eerie smile as she sat opposite him cross-legged. "More like a order" Jason snorted. "Glad you know that too. Well, this is Heather" his mom continue, gesturing towards the girl standing beside her but Jason didn't remove his gaze from his mother, wondering what she wants. "She'll be living with you. Her mother is out of town and I'm also going on a trip. It's compulsory I go alone, so we have no other option than to bring her here." "Can't she live alone?" Jason asked. "No she can't, I'll be on my way and please, take good care of her" his mother stood, elegant as always. Her hair sleek and smooth, bouncing off her shoulders. Her cloth ironed and fitted. "Whatever mum" He rolled his eyes. "Thanks sweetie, I love you" His mother blew kisses at him, flicked her hair and made her way out. You can always call her the dramatic type. "Oh before I forget" she paused at the front door "she's your girlfriend. I brought her so you both can get along and maybe you know, you can help" She left. "Who??" Jason asked confusedly and helplessly. "Hello Mister Jason, thanks for accepting me." He heard someone say, he had forgotten there was a someone standing in his sitting room. He looked at her fully and opened his mouth wide unknowingly as he took in her features. She is wearing a lilac pyjamas, a baby cap and holding a very big teddy bear. She even wore stockings to match her wears. How could she have followed his mum this way and she didn't flip?? This is mind blowing, mum?? "Hello Mister Jason, thanks for accepting me" she repeated again in a childlike voice, grinning and waving her her free hands so fast he thought it will fall off. He grunted and stood up, shaking his head as he made his way back to his room. He paused for a second and looked back, hoping he was seeing things. Indeed she is in that dress and now she has a sucker in her mouth and is looking at him with innocent eyes, blinking slowly. "Ugh..." He whipped his head fast and walked to his room in long strides. "WTH mum?!"

******************** Heather sucked hard on her sucker, loss at what to do to subdue the hunger feeling. Deciding to do other things to take her mind off her hungry stomach, she brought out her bag of toy blocks and emptied it on the floor. She widened her legs to create more space and began building a house with the blocks.

Her resolve shook when she didn't see Mister Jason come out of his room hours later. She went over to the room she had saw him entered and knocked, hugging her teddy bear tightly to her chest. She knocked again when she didn't get a response on time. The door flew open to reveal a toweled Jason with water dripping off his body. She barely glanced at his body and instead made eye contact with him. "My stomach has been making too much noise which is getting me bothered, I think I'm hungry" she told him. "Then go and get your something to eat or cook, you don't expect me to be your slave in my house right" he replied irritatedly and slammed the door on her face. She blinked back the tears that was threatening to fall and knocked on the closed door again. Jason opened the door angrily and screamed "What?!" he was already having a bad day and trying hard to go back to sleep. "I don't know how to cook" she said gently. "Well good for you then because I don't care!" Jason yelled and slammed the door again. ' how can a girl not cook?' he wondered and walked down to his bed. He slept off the instant his head hit the pillow. Heather slid down the wall and cuddling her teddy bear, promising herself to report him to her mother when she calls. Since her sucker wasn't near, she placed her thumb in her mouth and sulked to sleep moments later beside the door.

**************************" Jason woke up feeling refreshed and less grumpy, Fridays are his off day at work same for his employees. He opened his door and froze not expecting to find the strange girl sleeping here with her left thumb in her mouth. He shook his head and went to the kitchen to prepare a meal, wondering how long she had been there. He fixed a quick meal of bacon and eggs and placed them on the kitchen table. He turned to get water from the tap to drink, upon facing the table back, he found Heather sitting on a kitchen stool with an empty plate in front of her. He furrowed his eyebrows, how come he didn't hear her come in? With the way she stared at him expectantly, he didn't have the heart to turn her down. Thankfully, he made more than enough so he filled her plate, sat opposite her and watched warily to know what she'll do with the food. Surprisingly, she ate like a normal human then what's up with her babyish attitude? She finished her meal quickly and clasped her hands together, muttering a thank you to him. "Won't you drink water?" He asked. "No" she shook her head "I'm fighting with water, a big beef actually." "Huh?? So you don't drink water?" "No" she shook her head again "only when it's very veeerrryyyy compulsory." Emphazing on the very. "That's unbelievable!" Jason exclaimed. "It's believable...." Heather cried "it's very believable.... I haven't had my bath for the past 12 days so how come it isn't believable?" she added, wanting what she said to be believed and accepted. The red alert went off in his head and he unconsciously scoot his chair backwards, staring at her in horror. "See, take a whiff of my body and tell me if it reeks" she moved close to him. He jumped off the chair and ran to his bedroom, praying not to catch a whiff while Heather looked dejected, thinking of what went wrong.
