Mama I'm coming, I grumbled as I woke up from my slumber, it's barely 5:30 in the morning and we have to go to the farm.
Life hasn't been a bed of roses for us but we have each other and as the saying goes when there's life there is hope, speaking of which we are a family of 5 ranging from my dad, mom, yours truly, Karo

we are the Akpobor's.
I got up quickly and woke my siblings and changed my clothes and brushed my teeth with a chewing stick, at about 6am we are on our way.
Mama did you carry palm kernel asked Karo "my mother just ignored him because is alway eager to eat something" me and my sister laughed at him, he kept quiet until we got to the farm.
Our father cut out a portion of the farm for each of us to clear, my mom dug up a hole close to a tree and buried our 10 litre drinking water so it's not too hot when we're ready to drink.
We worked together in silence until the sun was blazing and we had to rest and eat our breakfast, my mom brought out plates, spoons, garri
processed cassava
and salt.....the water was brought out and we ate ourmeal with the palm kernel my mom gave us.
After eating we relaxed a little longer before going back to finish our work and at about 3pm we were done, our father told my my mom and siblings to go back home while he looks at his traps and I get firewoods.
I went further into the farm to get the firewoods, as soon I was done I head home hoping that my mother has made something delicious to eat by the time I get back, the weight of the load on my head was heavy and I can't drop it because if I did I won't have the energy to put it on my head again so I resulted to running so I can get home a bit fast.
Finally I got home and dropped the firewood and drank two cups of water and lied down for a few minutes, food was ready and the rules was you must have your bath before you can have some which I gladly did.
My mother made the most delicious meal ever, she made one of my favourite oil rice with smoked fish....."mama this food ehen sweet oo* I exclaimed or mama did you add sugar? I questioned her my brother too was like mummy like seriously tell us did you put sugar in this food why is it so delicious my sister came too my mom's rescue and said the special ingredient was love that's why the food was delicious, we all burst out laughing.
Life was hard we get it but it doesn't mean we can't make it fun, any opportunity we get to tease our mother we make the most out of it. Our mom is beautiful in and out she deserves some accolades.
