Dawn's POV
"Honey you have to wake up or you're going to be late." Said my mom in amusement.
"So sleepy." I whined with my eyes still closed.
"Dawn, you can't disappoint Ally, she trusted you enough to suggest you to her employers." She chastised in her 'no nonsense' voice, making me feel guilty.
"You're right." I sighed as I sat up in my bed and stretched my arms to relieve the strain.
"Aren't I always?" Asked my mom jokingly, making me check chuckle with a nod.
"Okay, breakfast will be ready by the time you finish getting dressed." She said, giving me a kiss on the cheek before walking to the door and opening it. She turned to me and softly smiled at me before walking out of my room and closing the door behind me.
With a sigh, I got out of my warm and comfortable bed and trudged to my small, joint bathroom.
I quickly brushed my teeth and did my morning toilet business before turning on the shower water. Yawning, I took off my nightdress and drew it in the hamper at the door before sticking my hand in the water to find it hot, just as I like it, so I jumped in.
I picked up my face wash and squeezed some onto my hand before closing it and putting it back. I rubbed my hands before rubbing it on every part of my face then I rinsed my hands and threw some water on my face to wash the face wash off.
I reached for my face cloth and put it in the running water to wet it, before twisting it and drying my face.
I hung it back on the shower door and pulled my second cloth off, squeezed some shower gel and washed the rest of my body.
~~~~~
With a sigh, I walked out of my shower and into the steamy bathroom.
I took my face lotion and squeezed some from the tube before spreading it over my hands and applying it to my dry face, then I opened my cherry blossoms scented lotion and squeezed some into my hands before applying some into my hands, rubbing my hands and applying it to to my body.
Seeing that I was finished applying my lotion, I closed the lid and pulled one towel from my towel hamper and wrapped the baby blue towel around my body.
Looking at myself in my mirror, I smiled at my slightly messy appearance. I have wavy, shoulder length pitch black, chocolate brown eyes and naturally tan skin and I am short at 5'3 feet.
With a smile, I walked away from my mirror and walked into my bedroom to get dressed. I picked out a matching black set of underwear, an off the shoulder, long sleeved top, a pair of black skinny jeans and a pair of short, grey socks from my closet and quickly put them on.
Then I picked out a pair of black and white sneakers to go with my outfit and now all I need to do is my hair. Walking back to the bathroom, I took my hairbrush out of the wooden cabinet at the corner and walked to my mirror with it.
I quickly ran the brush through my hair a couple of times to smoothen the curls out and to get the knots out, making it basically smooth before moisturising it and running the brush through it again. Deciding to leave it untied, I put the brush back into the cabinet before walking to my neatly made made and picking up my phone and bag.
With one last quick glance at myself, I walked out of my bedroom and walked to the kitchen.
"There you are, I was about to come and get you." Smiled my mom as I stepped into the kitchen.
"Mama, I only took an hour." I chuckled as I put my bag on the high chair before jumping onto the one next to it.
Chuckling she winked," I know," She placed my plate of waffles in front of me, making my stomach instantly grumble.
"Eat away, Hon," She smirked, making me playfully stick my tongue out before squeezing some syrup onto my first waffle. She hummed making me look up at her," You look beautiful, Darling, but when don't you ever." She shrugged as she took the seat next to me.
"I don't know, on my time of the month," I shrugged as I cut a piece with my fork and knife before putting the syrup covered piece into my mouth, immediately making my taste buds go crazy, making me excitedly moan in delight,"But these would make me feel better in an instant."
"Then I should make them more." Winked my mom in amusement as she took a bite of her own waffle.
"You should Mama," I said as I took another bite," Actually, I'm wrong, you shouldn't," I paused for her to look at me with a perfectly arched eyebrow," You must." I sternly nodded, making her burst out into laughter.
"Then I guess I must get used to making them." She smiled.
With that we turned back to our plates and dug into our waffles,with me squeezing syrup onto each and every one of them.
"That was delicious, I swear I felt my taste buds burst in joy." I stated as I stood up and collected our decisions to wash them.
"I'm glad, now leave those in the sink. I'll wash them, you better go before you run late," She slowly said as she took a glance at her wristwatch," Seems like you're running late already." She stated as she got up and gave me a kiss on the cheek," Go go." She shooed me.
"Alright alright." I raised my hands in surrender, before taking my phone from the counter and putting it in my pocket and throwing my bag over my shoulder.
"Good luck," She said as she pulled me into a hug," But I know you'll do great." She winked as she held me at arms length and gently squeezed my shoulders reassuringly.
"Thanks Mama, I'll see you later." I said as I took the keys off the key hanger on the wall and rushed out of the door.
I opened my mom's car that she so willingly borrowed me and jumped in. I put my bag on the passenger side floor, fastened my seatbelt, pressed the gate's remote to open the gate and started the car.
I drove off the driveway and onto the road before pulling away.
~~~~~
I parked the car at the gate and pulled up the handbrake.
Sighing, I opened the glove compartment to grab my phone only to be met with everything else but my phone.
"Please don't tell me I left it at home."I quietly mumbled, closing my eyes to keep calm.
That's when I felt vibrations on my hip, sighing in relief I moved up to get my phone out of my pocket.
I swiped the answer button and put the phone to my ear," He—" I began.
"Please tell me you're not late." Warned Ally.
"No no not at all, I'm actually outside, I—" I began just to be cut off once again.
"Great," She said as she sighed in relief,"I'll call Amelia and tell her you that you're there, later Boo." She said before cutting the call, making me bring my phone to my face.
"What a friend I have." I mumbled, shaking my head in amusement before putting it on the dashboard and placing my arms over the steering wheel and leaning on it with a sigh.
Suddenly the gate opened, making me sit up straight and wait for it to open up completely before driving in.
To say that I was in awe of the beauty of the front yard would be an understatement, I was in love with it. I've only been outside and even then it's because Ally was fetching something here on one of our weekly getaways.
Ally and I have been best friends since birth. Our mothers have been best friends since the first grade of high school that they even went to the same university.
Our parents met our fathers during university and they eventually started dating. By the time they had us they had proper jobs, but my father decided that he wasn't ready for a child yet and left my mom to raise me alone. Ally's father however is still in the picture and him and Ally have a great relationship.
Ally and I were basically raised together and the reason to that is because our parents somehow bought houses in the same neighbourhood so we saw each other alot. We actually grew up like twins, or sisters because of this. We even ended up basically sharing parents. Ally and I call my mom, Mama and we call her mom, Mom. I even got accustomed to calling Ally's dad, Papa whereas she calls him Dad.
I guess all this happened because you know how babies are, they tend to copy each other and I suppose that's what led us to end up sharing our parents.
Now back to the house and it's gorgeous exterior. There's are fountain at the sides of the driveway of a dolphins spraying water from the holes on their head. The grass is a rich green and it's short and neatly cut.
On the left near the double story house is a tree, providing tons of cool shade. On the porch, there is one of those swingset benches, yeah I don't know the name.
I parked the car infront of one of the garage doors, cut the engine, stretched my hand to my bag and pulled it to me. I opened my door and jumped out, slinging the door over my shoulder just as a woman,around my age walked out of the house.
"Hello there." She smiled.
Closing the door, I locked the car and walked to her," Hi, I'm so sorry I'm late." I apologised.
"It's alright, please come in." She smiled as she gesturing to the open door.
"Thank you." I smiled as I walked into the house.
"I'm sorry but my husband will only be joining us later on." She apologised as she closed the door behind us.
"It's alright." I smiled.
"Okay, let's go chat in the living room." She said as she led me to the living room. We walked into the slightly spacious, grey walled living room. There was a large walled plasma TV with a fire place below it. In front of it was a grey leather C—shaped couch with a fluffy blanket on both ends. There were also five pillows, two deep red ones, two cream ones and one dark grey one. The two deep red ones were placed on the ends and the others in the middle.
