Chapter 1

Freya

"Hurry up, we will be late for the meeting," I pulled Dora towards the packhouse.

There was a pack meeting and we all were expected to be on time. My father Xavier Lewinsky was the Alpha of the Crescent Moon pack. He was the most punctual person I had ever come across and expected punctuality from everyone.

We approached a group of she wolves on our way to the pack house, "Poor Freya, her wolf didn't awaken till now," one of the she wolf whispered loud enough to reach my ears.

I stiffened the moment I heard her words, "She will be twenty tommorrow, do you think there is any chance she even have a wolf?" another she wolf Cassy asked.

I knew they were wantedly, making this discussion to make me feel worthless. I was going to turn twenty tommorrow and my still hadn't awakened till now. Our pack members had started speculating that I didn't had any wolf.

"Ignore them Freya," Dora muttered from my side glaring at the group of she wolves.

"I think she is cursed," another one said, "How is it possible that an Alpha's daughter don't have a wolf," she added.

I felt my chest constrict, I had been listening to these whispers for two years now and had enough of it. I turned back and started running not caring about Dora calling me from behind. I kept running until I reached the edge of the forest.

These woods were rumored to be haunted and not even the bravest of our warriors would dare to go deep inside those woods. Right now I was not in my right mind and just wanted to run from here. I didn't remember how much time passed but I didn't stop. When finally my breath started pulling I came to halt. The trees around were thick and tall and in shape that I had never seen before.

The hairs on my neck rose I was certain that someone was watching me. I shut my eyes and took a deep breath then turned and called, "Who is there?"

I didn't receive any reply, I could sense someone's presence around but I was not able to see them. It could have been my imagination, but this was happening a lot of times and I don't think that it's just my mind playing tricks on me.

I walked towards the direction I had come from, tightening my jacket around me. I wanted to get out of this place as fast as I possibly could. If it was some wolf from enemy packs or some rogue, I would be dead meat before anyone could rescue me.

I cursed my wolf again for not reaching out to me and staying hidden somewhere inside me. I took a turned back to make sure if someone was following me and started walking in quick steps.

After I had covered a little distance I heard the rustling of leaves and a pair of footsteps behind me. I was so terrified that I didn't even want to turn and look at the person who was following me. I was sure if I stayed here alone for a few more minutes, my birthday was going to be converted into my death day.

"What was I thinking coming here?"

Everyone must be in the pack meeting right now and won't even know what happened to me.

I looked in the direction of my house desperately, it still was so far from me. What if the person caught me before I was out of the woods? Should I run to get away or should I maintain my pace? I was desperately thinking about how I was going to save my life from whoever was following me.

The footsteps were getting closer and closer and I was terrified that they could catch up on me. I tried walking faster making sure not to let the person sense that I knew they were following me.

I might have been a halfway through the distance to my house when my foot got caught up in something and I fell. I cursed myself and tried to get up, but I slipped again in my nervousness.

I didn't even have the courage to look around and see the face of my stalker. I knew that whoever it was, they were here to kill me and they won't stop until they complete their task.

I tried again in desperation to get up from the floor, but my limbs betrayed me. I stayed splayed on the floor waiting for my approaching death.
