Juliet’s P.O.V.
Hi, I am Juliet. A simple next-door girl.
I am studying in college, and I have all the traits you will find in every college-going girl.
I live with my family and love to read books, and I have two best friends.
One Is Jessica, and another is Jason.
Jessica and I met when we were in the sixth standard, and from then we were in the same high school, and now in the same college.
And Jason and I met when I was in my first year of college.
Jessica is the type of girl who is bubbly, and swoons over every romantic movie, and of course has a crush on the heroes.
And now her new favorite is fantasy, Vampires, werewolves, you know!
And Jason is the type with whom girls have a crush, but he doesn’t even look over them.
Did I tell you he has a girlfriend?
Maybe I didn’t. But his girlfriend is a person, about whom I heard from three years, but never saw once.
I didn’t even try though.
We are friends and I believe in giving space.
In my family,
I have my mom, a book lover just like me.
My dad is the best husband and father I have ever seen.
My Netflix addict sister.
And my party animal brother.
I am now walking in my college corridor, when my best friend Jessica comes, and hugs me from behind.
“Hey, Juliet. Do you have watched ‘Originals’ yet?” She asked while trying to catch her breath.
“Nope,” I replied to Jessica. She knows I don’t like to spend my time watching TV. If you give me a book, I am on it, but TV is not my favorite timepass. But as she likes to watch, I know today she won’t leave me alone, without telling me the entire story.
“What are you saying? It’s so awesome. I was so engaged with it that I couldn’t get up till I finish one season.” she give me a look that says, I came from a different planet.
“What’s so interesting?” I ask still walking toward the library, while she was tagging with me.
“It’s stories about vampires and werewolves.” I knew it.
“Oh,” I said, giving no interest in the topic.
“What Oh? You know the most interesting thing about this?” she asks and stands in front of me, so I stop walking.
“What?” I ask and she started.
“The cast, especially the male leads. I was so hooked by them. I wish I have a werewolf boyfriend, or at least a vampire.” She said with a dreamy look.
“And he will suck blood from you every day,” I said feeling disgusted, and walked around her.
“Eww. You are such boring, and if he will be so hot I don’t mind. It’s just blood.” She said still being in her dreamland.
“You are crazy. How can you fall for someone who is a beast? It’s creeping me out only thinking.” I said in disbelief.
“It’s only you who thinks it’s creepy. Everyone in the class swoon over all these things. You are the only person who thinks it disgusted,” she said offended.
“Because you all have dumped your brain in the garbage.“ I walk away, leaving her with her fantasy.
I know these are just fantasy, and these creatures can’t be real.
But all these things make me so disgusted. The last time I saw a movie with my friend named Twilight or something.
That was a vampire love story. I just felt so disgusting watching that.
How can someone want to die, for someone who is already dead?
How can someone swoon over some blood-sucking creature, or a beast who lives as a human, when in reality he is a wolf?”
I just feel nauseated thinking all this.
I don’t understand how they can feel so dreamy about all this.
I exhale and leave for my class.
After this class, I can go to the library as my next class is off.
I love to spend time in books, other than doing anything.
I am not a bookworm who spends all day in books, but I like to read.
Our college library is the biggest in town, so I am blessed with lots of choices.
After the class end, I went to the library, to search for the book which will be my friend for the next hour.
I think of reading the book I saw last time, but couldn’t read as another book caught my attention that time, so I read that first.
That was a love story, my favorite genre.
But when I try to find that, it was not there, where I saw it last time.
I tried to find it in other rows, but it was not there too.
I badly wanted to read the book.
So I went to her, who can tell me where the book is.
“Someone has taken the book this morning, dear. You can read something else,” she said with a smile.
Our librarian is a woman in her late thirty, and as I came here regularly, we have a good understanding.
And she has an excellent test in books, so I often take her suggestion during book selection.
“Can you suggest something similar to that book?” I asked.
“OK, let me help.” She said and went with me.
She handed me a book. I look at her confused, as the book cover is not of my liking.
“Which genre is this book?” I ask looking confused.
“Fantasy and romance. You like to read romantic books. This book is on-demand now,“ She said and sorted the books.
“What do you mean?” I know romantic. What is fantasy? Is it non-fiction?
“Werewolf romance.” She said and return to her work.
“No...Why this? You have nothing else?” I feel creepy. Why do all the people only like this type of romance?
“I thought you will like this. Every girl of your age likes this type of book.” She said while searching for another book.
“No. I don’t like all those books. Can you suggest something else?” I hand her the book quickly as if my hand is on fire.
“OK. Then try this.“ She handed me another book.
“You will surely like this,” She said and leave for her desk.
I open the book and started to read it happily.
