Chapter 1

At the prestigious Monarch Hotel in Banyan City, Kaydence Justice was standing nervously outside Room A-8008, dressed in a skirt suit.

On the brink of her junior year in college, her stepmother had secured her an internship at the influential Hamilton Group.

Today, she was here for an interview.

Taking a couple of deep breaths for courage, she knocked gently on the door.

After an extended wait, there was no response, causing her to frown in confusion.

Had she mistaken the room?

Just as she was about to re-check the note in her hand for the interview location, the door abruptly swung open.

A powerful arm seized her slender wrist and yanked her inside.

Startled, Kaydence's fingers slipped, the note dropping to the floor, revealing the room number, A-8088.

Inside, the room was in darkness, the heavy curtains blocking out any sunlight, making it impossible to discern the interior.

Kaydence was pressed against the door by the man, her hands pinned above her head.

"Let me go!" she demanded, her voice echoing in the dim room.

Despite her struggle, his grip was unyielding.

"Who are you?" His voice was low and hoarse, trembling slightly, as though suppressing something.

His hot breath against her ear caused her heart to flutter.

Angered and flustered, she blurted out, "I'm Kaydence Justice, the daughter of Matthew Justice, the owner of Intergritex Company. I'm here for an interview. Let me go!"

Her declaration was met with a chuckle.

It seemed that Wesley Turner had indeed arranged this meeting well.

Sensing a shift in his demeanor, Kaydence felt a strong sense of oppression fill the room.

Without warning, he leaned in and captured her lips, muffling her gasps of surprise.

As the night unfolded, they found themselves entwined in a whirlwind of passion and desire...

When Kaydence woke up again, the thick curtains had been pulled open. The golden sunshine shone on the floor through the huge French windows.

She subconsciously looked at the man standing by the window and met a pair of dark eyes.

"You!" Kaydence wanted to curse at the thought of what happened just now, but her tears fell down weakly.

The man humphed and raised his hand, tossing her his card.

The thin piece of paper spun a few times in the air and finally fell to the ground.

Kaydence bit her lip tightly, and soon her iron-like voice came. "I will sue you!"

Upon hearing this, the man raised his defined eyebrows slightly, as if he had heard a joke.

He brushed the sleeves of his suit that did not have any wrinkles on it and said in a reserved, noble, and indifferent tone.

"That would certainly be my honor."

Then, he pushed the door open and strode out.

Curtis Hamilton walked out of the hotel, and Wesley, who had been waiting by the side of the road, quickly drove the car over.

"You did a good job with the woman you found."

Wesley's back stiffened. "Mr. Hamilton, the person I've arranged for you... went to the wrong place..."

Curtis narrowed his eyes, leaving them dark and indifferent.

A moment later, he seemed to think of something, and the coldness around him receded like a tide.

"If that's the case, then I took advantage of her."

Looking at Curtis' expression, Wesley said nervously, "What are you going to do when you find the person who drugged you?"

Curtis looked down and fiddled with his cufflinks. The corners of his mouth were slightly curved. "I'd like to see the guts that took him to do this."

Wesley held his breath.

He wondered whether the guts that his boss said were the same as what he was thinking...

Back in the room, Kaydence was lying on the bed, feeling extremely dejected.

She did not understand how things had developed into this.

She obviously came here for an interview...

Struggling with the discomfort coursing through her body, Kaydence managed to get out of bed and find her phone from her bag.

It was strange that her stepmother hadn't attempted to contact her when she missed her interview.

Dialing Charlotte Clarke, her stepmother, she was taken aback by the chilling words that greeted her.

"What did you say? Dad passed away? How could this happen so suddenly..." The phone slipped from her trembling hands as shock and despair washed over her.
