I woke up today a little late. It's my engagement within a week. Thinking about it I could feel my face warming up and I was having a smile on my face.
Like all the typical arranged marriages I met Tommy my groom-to-be in a matrimony site.
When I looked at his photo of his charming face with a great smile I felt warmth in my heart. Tommy had everything that I wanted. I thanked God for choosing Tommy to be my life partner. Both of us were from Kerala
India
and both of us had great jobs.
We had started going out together since the engagement day was fixed. Today Tommy called me and asked me to meet him in a small private hospital St Mary's Hospital. I was a little anxious and I asked him why he had called for.
He told me that he will tell to about it directly and asked me not to worry about it much.
After having the break fast I got ready and looked myself in the mirror.I saw a little short and chubby women who had a charming smile on her face. She was wearing a white top with floral painting and black jeans.
Perfect!
I muttered to myself and went out to the hospital.
At the hospital I met Tommy. I was really happy to see him there. I looked at him,he was also short like me. He was wearing a cream colour t-shirt and black jeans. I asked him why did he asked me to meet him there.Upon
hearing that Tommy was a little nervous but he answered me with all the sincerity.
"Since we are getting married and we are becoming partners, let's have a health check up"
I also agreed to this idea but I was a little reluctant when Tommy asked me to have a sexual health check up too. I was feeling uneasiness in my heart so I had asked Tommy also to have a sexual health check up. Finally I
was taken to a gynecologist where the doctor had a physical check up for me internally.
I was very stressed after completing all these checkup and was mad at Tommy.
Tommy on the other hand was on high spirits. Tommy realizes that I was mad at him so he took me to an ice cream parlour. He ordered my favourite kitkat shake.
Since I was a foodie upon seeing the kitkat shake my mood got enlightened. I was no longer mad at Tommy
mad at Tommy.We chatted and flirted with each other for a while and Tommy dropped me back home.
After one day I received a call from Tommy and he had asked me to collect the Health report as Tommy was busy with work. I agreed went to the hospital and collected the report. On looking at my report I was extremely happy. Everything was normal.I was little worried about whether I had PCOD as I was a little chubby and loved eating eggs, hence checkup for the same was also made,but when the results came I realised that I was having unnecessary worries.
I then took the report of Tommy and took a look at it. I was stunned for a while and then I came back to my senses. I then called Tommy and asked him to come over the cafe near the hospital. Tommy reached after an hour,
he was angry with me as I had asked him to come over when he was busy with work. Even though both of our work location was Bangalore Tommy had Work From Home option but I didn't.So I took a leave of 10 days for engagement whereas Tommy took only two days.
Tommy looked at my face and asked me impatiently as he sat on the chair opposite to me.
"Why you had asked me to come over"
I didn't reply but took the report and showed it to Tommy and asked him calmy.
"Do you have any explanation" then I took a gulp of mindlime that I had ordered,my throat was dry.
Tommy went through the report. There was a long silence after that Tommy replied.
"I...I am sorry"
"Sorry" I twitched my lips and sneerd
After I had seen the report of Tommy,I sat on the hospital
and thought about it a lot.Sometimes later I went to the gynecologist that had done the checkup for me.
The gynecologist was women on her forties. When I looked at her I could only see pain in her eyes. She was wearing a low price saree. Her bag was shabby and the watch she wore seems to be very old. From one look I could tell that she was very poor and indeed was in need of money. I bribed her and asked whether the report was real for which she replied "yes"
Then I asked her again why was I taken to gynecologist by Tommy for which she replied
" Tommy was very doubtful about your Virginity so he asked me to do the test for you"
On hearing this I gritted my teeth
I then called Any who was not much interested in out marriage
I asked her "Do you really know about Tommy from the beginning" for which Anu said "yes"
I got mad and asked her " why didn't you tell me then" for which she just replied
" I don't want to see you sad"
Tears ran down from my face and then I replied to Anu
" Ok. I am calling off the marriage"
Anu: Are you ok Anna? Should I come there?
I: No I am fine take care
Anu : Take care you too
