Melainie's POV
"Wooooow, I think cupid makes its move!"
"What do you mean?"
"I think I'm in love!"
"Really?"
"Yes! See that guy at 2 o'clock?"
"I can clearly see him."
"He's so handsome."
"I know."
'Urgh, people and their illusion.'
I just sipped my coffee and didn't mind their gossiping. Of course, Cupid isn't true. He's just an illusion. Tss, only fools will believe that Cupid is true.
I was taken aback when my phone rang.
"Yes?" I said when I answered the call from my mother.
"Hey, where are you?" my mother asked me.
"I'm at the cafe, mom," I answered.
"Go home," she commanded and I frowed.
"Mom, can't you just give me a break? One day's break is enough for me."
"I see, you're stressed. Right?"
"Yes, mom."
"Sure. One day break," she reluctantly agreed.
"Thanks, mom."
My mom hung up so I continued eating. While eating, I decided to go to my favorite place. That place was peaceful.
After eating, I pay for the food and drive to my favorite place. When I arrived, I parked my car and walked to my favorite place.
I sat on the bermuda grass and watched the chirping birds flying in the air. But suddenly, my instinct instantly gets alert because of the soft sound coming from my back.
After a couple of seconds, I see a guy run from my back and hide in the tree. Then I hear footsteps. Maybe, three to four pairs of feet.
"Miss, did you see a guy here?"
"Of course she did. We're guys, right?"
"Shut the fuck up."
"I mean, a guy wearing black jacket and denim jeans?" the guy asked me politely. Telling them where he is can be the guy's misfortune. So I told him a lie.
"No, I don't."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
"Okay," the other guy said then walked away with the other. I didn't mind them and got back to my relaxation.
"Psst." A noise interrupts the peace in me. I didn't mind it.
"Hey, woman!" This time, he shouted. Whoever he is, he's draining my patience.
"Damn it, woman!" he shouted again like an angry lion.
"Can you just shut up!?" I shouted back. I don't even know who and where he is yet he's pestering me.
"Come here!"
"Shut up!"
"Come here, woman!"
"Whoever the fvck are you, stop pestering me!" I shouted into the top of my lungs. All I want is peace and break. But that guy was disturbing me!
"Help me! Please!" I grit my teeth in too much annoyance when standing up. I want to get back to my relaxed state so I'll go and talk to him.
"What do you want?" I asked him.
"Help me climb down."
"You're the one who climbed up there and you're asking me to help you?"
"Just help me!"
"I can't help you."
"Why?!"
"Only you can help yourself. I'm not there, so just climb down."
"I don't know how!"
"Do you still remember where you placed your foot while climbing?"
"Yeah."
"Place your foot there and you can go down."
"That easy?"
"Yeah."
Finally, his foot reaches the soil, so I walk away without saying anything. Because of the guy, I walked my way to my car but he stopped me.
"What?" I was irritated. My break wasn't peaceful. Fvck it!
"What's your name?"
"It's none of your fuckin' business."
"Hey!"
"What?!"
"Just answer it."
"What if I don't want to?"
"I'll still force you."
"Oh, you can't."
"I can. I'll just pester you until you give up."
"Bring it on, asshole," I said. I almost lose my breath when he moves close to me. Very close that I can smell his manly scent.
'Fvck. My knees, they're shaking. Why does my body react like this?'
"What did you just call me?"
"A-asshole."
"Stuttering, huh?"
"No, I'm not. And please, move away... You're invading my personal space."
"Fvck that personal space. If I want to be close to you, I will."
"We aren't even close."
"How close? The closeness that we're gonna exchange our breaths?"
I gathered all my strength and punched him in his face. I immediately ran to my car and drove it without knowing where I would go next.
'Argh! Bullsh!t! I'm supposed to be on a break yet someone is disturbing me.'
I don't know where I'll go next so I drive my car to our house. Maybe, I'll find peace in my room there... I hope so.
I parked my car and entered our house. I go to the bathroom inside my room and prepare the bathtub. I went to my walk-in closet and got some clothes then went back to the bathroom.
After soaking and taking a bath, I lie down on my bed and stare at the ceiling.
I close my eyes to sleep but I immediately open my eyes when I see flashbacks. Of course, I can't sleep right now because it's just 10 am.
I tried to close my eyes again, but I ended up reading books in my bed.
'Argh! Those flashbacks of what happened earlier still lingers in my goddamn mind!'
I stopped reading and went to the mini bar near the kitchen. I take one bottle of vodka with me and go back to my room.
I sat on the study table. There's no trash or paper on my study table so I can sit there. I opened the bottle of vodka and drank directly from the bottle. I can feel heat in my throat, down to my stomach but I didn't mind and took another gulp.
My phone rang so I answered it without looking at the caller's ID.
"What do you want?" I asked coldly. I heard a soft giggle so I looked at the caller's ID. It's Monica. One of my best friends.
"Hey, Annie. What's with your cold behavior?" she asked teasingly. She calls me 'Annie' as a form of nickname. Oh, fvck. She won't stop until I say the reason.
"It's nothing, Eyca," I answered. And silently praying that she'll stop asking me what's my problem.
"Oh, is that so?"
"Yeah."
"Just continue what you're doing. We'll listen if you're ready. Bye."
"Ok, bye." After I ended the call, I drank again.
When I finished drinking, I tried to stand but I ended up gripping the chair.
With a fuzzy and spinning sight, I walk towards my bed and lie. I waited for a few minutes and I fell asleep.
