Chapter 1: Received
'Pin calling' ~
I looked at my phone and saw that it's my bestfriend, Pin who's calling.
"Hello?"
"Twaiza, where the hell are you?"
"I'm at the canteen, why?"
Today's our enrollment for the first semester of third year college in our University. I just finished submitting my requirements and then decided to go here to do something about my hunger.
"Aren't you coming? We're waiting"
I combed my elbow-length straight hair. I almost forgot that I am supposed to be having lunch with my friends.
I started stepping away from the canteen but eventually stopped when Pin on the phone continued talking.
"Go with Erwan, he's still not here either"
"Wait, he's here at school?"
Erwan, Pin and I were classmates in grade and high school days. We are all living in the same neighborhood. We became playmates, and then eventually became friends. Erwan wasn't around the whole summer since his whole family went to Hong Kong for the summer vacation, explaining my excitement on why he's now here.
"Hello?"
Erwan answered my call.
"Where are you? Pin called me to come with you"
"I'm almost reaching the parking lot. How about you?"
"Canteen. Wait for me"
I went straight to the parking lot and searched for Erwan's black sedan car. When I found it, I saw Erwan walking towards the car. I immediately ran towards him and hugged him from behind.
I missed this friend of mine.
"Ej, I missed you! Why didn't you call me?"
"I'm sorry?"
Erwan which I casually calls 'Ej' replied with a different voice. Wait, this isn't smells like Erwan and this body's more bulky than the usual Erwan.
"Oh my!"
I stared at this guy's face and to my surprise, it isn't really Erwan.
Bloody hell!
"Twaiza? Why are you hugging Kyron?"
I let go from the hug after I saw Erwan coming out of his car. This is embarrassing!
"I-I thought he's you"
"Really? You know I'm more handsome and taller than my cousin"
I heard Kyron hissed. "Let's go"
Kyron slid himself at the backseat while Erwan walked closer to me.
"Are you making the first move now, Twaiza?
"Shut up! I told you I thought he was you! I didn't know you are with him"
He chuckled. "I decided to tag him along for the meantime, so stop blushing and get in the car"
Erwan and Pin knows that I like Kyron. Well, who wouldn't? Kyron is obviously handsome and attractive. He's a basketball athlete and a smart guy. There's no doubt that a lot of girls fall for him, including me.
I liked Kyron since the first year of college, but I'm not like those girls who would go and make a move just to get his attention. Liking him is enough for me.
Erwan on the other hand is indeed taller than Kyron, but the handsomer part? I don't think so, well, at least on my part. They are both athlete that's why they are both bulky and very masculine. They both share the same white complexion but I never mistook Kyron as Erwan, not ever, until earlier.
I seated at the front seat. Silence air filled in and it's getting awkward. Good thing, Erwan opened a conversation.
"Ky, I'm sorry for what Twaiza did. She just missed me"
I hissed and shifted my gaze at the window. Kyron at the back replied.
"It's fine"
I know I should be the one who should say sorry at him. But I'm too shy and I couldn't even spill a word infront of him.
"Why didn't you call me that you were already back home?" I asked Erwan.
"I wanted to surprise you, but it turns out, I was the one who got surprised"
I hissed for the second time.
"Ky, please hand her the big brown box beside you"
With a quick smile, I accepted the box from Kyron. I said my thank you but he didn't replied back. I think he's upset at me.
I opened the box and was suprised that it's filled with books, chocolates, and clothes.
"This is so much, Ej. Super thank you!"
"Happy? I was about to visit you at your house yesterday but I got tired so I just prepared that instead"
"I love it, thank you"
We finally arrived at the fast food where we usually hang out during leisure hours. Pin welcomed me with a wide smile and her arms.
"You're late"
"You were just too early, Pin"
Pin lead us to our table where Yujin and Yanna is. Yujin is a chinky guy and a basketball player too. We became friends in college because of Erwan, his teammate.
Yanna is the rich kid and the fashion trend girl in the group. We became classmates and friends in high school. Earlier this year, Yujin started courting her.
"Geez! Kyron is here?" Yanna blurted out.
"Yeah, is it okay if we tag him along?" Erwan answered.
Yanna raised her brow at me. I furrowed mine and seated beside her. I guess I'm too obvious with my feelings towards Kyron. Count her in.
"We love that" Pin replied.
"Someone will love that" Yujin murmured but I heard it clearly. Gosh, they are making me feel uneasy.
We started ordering our meal and also began chatting. Pin knew about Erwan's arrival yesterday but she didn't even bother telling me.
Yujin asked us on how was the enrollment. We may be friends and studying in one school but our programs are different. We belong in different departments but still inseparable.
Pulpina Trina "Pin" Vegas is an Education student. She majors Physical Education, and I tell you, she's good with music, theater and dancing. She's taller than me and her skin is tanned. She has this short blonde neck-length hair that everyone adores.
Yujin "Jin" Ho is a half-korean and half-american law student. He's smart and the most sensible talker amongst us. I am fond of his chinky eyes that always makes me feel insecure.
Ounceanna "Yanna" Gimarez, the ever pretty business administration student. She belongs in an entrepreneur family and known as the OOTD girl. Her hair is long and curly, fair skin and always up for a sweet and fabulous style. I admire her talent in crafting, sketching and painting, she's really good at it.
Erwan J "Ej" Piamonte is the gaming maniac who studies Information Technology. I visited his room countless times and it's like a gaming studio because there is a lot of computer and other gadgets inside it. He's been like a brother to me since I've got no brother to consider.
And the apple of my eye, Kyron "Ky" Manheim, a civil engineering student who is the basketball captain of the Team Hyenas. He's usually silent and expressionless as I have observed, making him a mystery to me. He's even more attractive with that looks.
And ofcourse yours truly, Twaiza "Twai" Topez, a Fil-Am nursing student, petite and bookish. Nothing special to brag about, really.
Upon eating, our phones beeped all at once. We even stared at each other's eyes before each of us slowly snatched our phones. That's strange.
"It's from Alex" Yujin declared. Alex is their basketball teammate.
"Mine's from Yancy" Yanna said. Yancy is her cousin.
"It's an exclusive contest sent by Aira" Pin uttered. Aira is her sister.
"You also got one? But mine came from Clifford" I said curiously. Clifford is my classmate.
"Maybe everyone's forwarding this right now" Erwan concluded.
"Check it out guys, click the link, it's amazing!" Yanna blurted out with excitement.
I did clicked the link and it brought me to an unfamiliar site. It says that it is an invitation to a treasure hunting event at Dryhills Resort.
"A treasure hunting contest? That sounds nice" Erwan said.
"Should we go?" Pin asked.
"Why not? The price is fifty thousand dollars" Yujin responded. Now, that is a lot of money.
"I think this is fantabulously great! It says here a team needs a group of six, I can handle the registration and other expenses" Yanna blabbered.
I think it's not a bad idea. We only have a week now before the new school year officially starts.
"Okay, I'm in! We'll use our van" Erwan declared.
"Fine. I'll go too" Pin uttered.
Yanna gazed at me. "How about you, Twaiza? You know I won't take 'no' for an answer"
"We need to ask permission first"
Although my mom would allow me to go for sure because Erwan and Pin is with me.
"To our parents? Ofcourse we will" Yanna replied.
"It's just three or more days" Yujin cut in.
"And Kyron would go to? Right, Kyron?"
I looked at Kyron who has been silently sitting and only listening to our conversations. He boredly eyed Yanna and nodded.
"See?"
"Yanna..." I glared at her. She is making me completely uncomfortable.
"It's settled then!"
I looked down and finished my food. I understand that my friends are very supportive when it comes to this thing, I guess I have to get used to it.
"The contest event is in two days, we should start packing tomorrow" Pin blabbered.
"We'll check the van too" Erwan continued.
"I'll ask for some queries at the resort. I'll update everyone tomorrow" Yanna said and everyone nodded before continuing eating their foods.
