Lexi Quinn heard a branch snapping outside,
“Kylian is that you?” Lexi called out softly,
Kylian was already more than a half hour late. Lexi did not doubt Kylian. She knew it would not be that easy to run away together. Lexi’s heart quickened, not from nervousness but out of excitement. She was excited to start a new life with the one she loved. Kylian promised to give her a new life and a new pack if she agreed to run away with him. Without hesitating Lexi immediately agreed. Lexi ran outside and halted in her steps when the smell of Rogue's filled the air. Her breath quickened and her eyes widened when two dark eyes stared back at her.
Rogues are wolves that do not belong to any pack. They were either exiled from their pack or left on their own accord. Pack wolves do not take kindly to them and would kill them on sight.
Lexi backed up until her back hit the cabin wall.
The rogue on the left had a big scare that ran from his right eye to the corner of his mouth. With a smirk, he looked Lexi up and down.
“You are even more beautiful than he said,” The rogue said in a hoarse voice.
Lexi felt a shiver run through her. She looked frantically around, pondering if she should run. Her only hope was that Kylian would come and help her.
“We are going to have so much fun with you.” The other rogue said.
Lexi's mind screamed for her to run. She pushed herself away from the wall and ran as fast as she could. She heard their chuckles echoing from behind. Loose branches scrapped her legs as she ran through the woods. She heard the sound of bones breaking and she knew they had turned into their wolves. With heaving breath, Lexi looked over her shoulder and tripped. She fell forward, stopping her fall with her hands. A burning sensation shot from her knee upwards. She struggled to her feet and kept running, even though her lungs were burning for her to take a break. The thought of them catching her made her heartbeat even faster, sending shivers of terror through her. A gasp escaped her lips as she felt her body being pushed to the ground. The heavyweight lifted itself from her body. An agonizing pain shot in her side as the rogue's feet collided with her ribs, the kick caused her body to flip around. Lexi ignored the pain and crawled backward trying to put as much space between her and the rogues. The sky was dark. Not even the moon made its appearance. In the distance lightning strike through the sky, lighting the sky. Seconds later thunder roared. Rain fell from heaven wetting the earth. Lexi found it difficult to see as the rain poured down her face, but with each lightning strike, she could see the rogue's nasty grin as it slowly approached her.
“You can’t touch me. I am Kylian Finley’s girlfriend. He is the next alpha in line. He will be here any time soon. He will kill you both if he catches you,”
The rogues looked at each other and started to chuckle.
“So pure and naïve. He is not coming sweetheart. He was the one that hired us. What will an Alpha want with a weak Omega?” The one with the scar said and continued laughing.
Lexi found their words impossible to believe. “Why would I trust a disgusting rogue's words? I know him. He loves me.”
As Lexi spoke, she kept crawling backward. She could feel her hands burning from the sticks and thorns that blistered them.
The rogue kept on slowly approaching her, enjoying every moment of tormenting her.
“Believe what you want sweetheart. How do you think we got through your pack's border unnoticed? No one was even alerted of us. We promise to take our time with you and enjoy every second.” The one leaped forward and grabbed her leg. Lexi turned around, grabbed a tree nearby, and kicked with all her strength. She knew if she did not fight, they would defile her.
“Hold the bitch down. I will take my turn first then you can get your chance. “The rogue shouted to the other one.
Lexi’s fingernails dug deeper into the tree as she increased her grip. The rogue grabbed the hem of her shirt tearing the bottom part off. Lexi screamed as she kicked the hand on her leg. She suddenly felt a source of energy burst through her. The feeling was unfamiliar to her, never had she felt this much strength. It was as if another part of her soul had awakened. Lexi knew at once it was her wolf. She could feel her wolf rage. She felt her wolf fighting to get control. Truthfully, she did not care what her wolf would do, she only knew she had to kill these two rogues if she wanted to get away. Lexi let her wolf take over to deal with these two as she wanted. Her wolf pushed forward and shoved Lexi to the back of her mind. Everything felt new but exciting. She felt her bones breaking, and watched as her wolf shift midair and jumped on the rogue that previously had his hand on her leg. Both rogues were startled for a second.
“Shit, she can shift. That fool told us that she has not receive her wolf, yet.” The rogue shouted to the other one.
Lexi’s wolf did not waste any time and sunk her teeth over his neck and bit down hard, sinking her teeth deep into his neck. As his body went limp, she pounced on the second one, biting any place she could get until she felt his body go numb. Lexi could only feel her wolf’s anger. Her wolf kept quiet as she retreated backward, giving Lexi control back. Lexi changed back into human form. She stumbled to her knees and held her head. Every bone in her body ached. With her last strength, she pulled herself up, scanned her surroundings, and found her clothes torn to shreds. She looked down at her naked body, then walked back to the cabin, found her back backpack, and got dressed. Lexi thought back on how the other wolves had described their first shift. How their family and loved ones were present to encourage them through their shift. After they had shifted, they even got to bond with their wolf. But Lexi was unfortunate. She had no one. She always thought of Kylian as her only family member, but now she was all alone. If her wolf, did not awaken to save her, she would have been raped and killed by these rogues. She wondered if anyone would have even noticed. When they have found her body would they even care? Would they even give her a burial or just toss her body aside? Why was life so unfair? Lexi felt anger boil inside her. She wanted the truth from Kylian. Lexi picked up her backpack, slung it over her shoulders, and walked back to the pack house to confront Kylian.
