Claire Sherman was at a high-end and fancy cafe. She was sitting by the window and sipping her coffee leisurely.
It was Claire's lunch break. She was having a cup of coffee and a plate of cakes for lunch.
A young man came in from the door and glanced around the cafe. When he saw Claire sitting by the window, his eyes lit up. Then, he strode over to her direction.
"Miss Sherman, nice to meet you. Do you still recognize me?" The young man took the seat opposite to Claire. He leaned forward, and his eyes sparkled with excitement.
Claire studied the man carefully. He was in a well-fitting suit with a tie, and his hair was neatly combed. Overall, he looked like an 'average Joe' in his thirties.
Claire couldn't recognize him at all. So she shook her head and said, "I'm sorry, may I know who you are?"
"Miss Sherman, we met last night. Don't you remember? I am Benjamin Walker, Ashley Burke's boyfriend." The man couldn't hide his disappointment.
"Last night?" Claire wondered.
Claire recalled that during the department banquet last night, almost all the beautiful ladies in the department brought their boyfriends along. Perhaps Claire had seen him at that time, but there were too many people. So she couldn't remember him clearly.
Claire smiled and said, "Oh, it's Mr. Walker. Nice to meet you too."
Benjamin looked at her smile dreamily. He was obsessed with her.
After he saw Claire in the private dining room at the restaurant last night, he felt as if the woman of his dream had finally appeared.
He felt that his girlfriend, Ashley, was nothing compared to Claire.
At noon, Benjamin was already waiting for Claire outside her company building. Then, he followed Claire into the cafe and acted as if he had met her by chance.
However, Claire couldn't recognize him at all, which made him feel a little disappointed.
"Miss Sherman, I fell in love with you at first sight. I hope that you're free tonight so that we can have dinner together." Benjamin felt that he should take the initiative to hit on someone like Claire. A lot of men would covet such a beautiful young woman.
Benjamin had asked Ashley some subtle questions last night. It seemed that Claire did not have a boyfriend yet.
Claire looked at him in surprise. "Mr. Walker, as you said just now, you are Ashley's boyfriend. Do you think it's appropriate for you to ask me out?"
Benjamin sneered and said, "Ashley? She is nothing compared to you. As long as you agree to be my girlfriend, I can break up with her immediately."
Claire had never seen anyone as shameless as Benjamin before.
She had never expected that the well-dressed man in front of her would openly cheat on his girlfriend without shame.
It was sad for Ashley to have such a boyfriend.
Claire raised her eyebrows and said, "Mr. Walker, I'm sorry. I already have a boyfriend."
Claire had always used this excuse to reject men. Usually, they would give up after getting the hint.
Apparently, Claire's usual tactic didn't work on Mr. Walker.
Benjamin smiled proudly and said, "Perhaps you don't know me very well. I have a car and a house in Arxenal City with an annual salary of 500,000 US Dollar. I definitely can be regarded as a member of the upper-middle class in Arxenal City. Miss Sherman, you'd better consider me as a potential suitor."
Claire was staggered. Benjamin's annual salary of 500,000 US Dollar, while her monthly salary was around 8,000 US Dollar. So his salary was indeed a lot higher than Claire's. However, he didn't have to be so boastful about it, did he?
Besides, such a self-assertive man had disturbed her meal.
So Claire frowned and said, "Mr. Walker, I've made it very clear. I have a boyfriend, and I don't intend to break up with him for the time being."
