Introduction

After a year in prison, Sophia finished her fairytale story. Three years later, she was back, dominating Henry, her ex-husband, and dealing with their affair. Upon their encounter, she smiled slightly and said, "Mr. Henry, have we met before?" But she was already someone else's wife and had a child. Chapter 1

The living room door was pushed open from the outside, and Henry Taylor stepped into the warm house, bringing with him the icy chill of the snowy night.

Sophia Scott, sitting at the dining table, looked towards the direction of the door and offered a small smile, “You're back?”

Henry said nothing, but walked directly to the dining table, looking at the full spread of dishes giving off waves of aroma. Sophia glanced up at him, suggesting, “This is dinner for New Year's Eve. If Mr. Henry doesn't mind, feel free to sit down and have some.”

“Did you push her down the stairs?” Henry, unswayed, asked calmly.

Upon hearing this, Sophia responded with a faint smile, stating, “She fell on her own, it has nothing to do with me.”

The look in Henry's eyes deepened, “Would she risk that while carrying a child?”

Raising her eyebrows lightly, Sophia replied, “But if I were her, I would do the same. It’s a common plot in TV dramas, isn't it?”

Henry's gaze deepened, stepping forward to grasp her jaw, leaning slightly towards her, the two of them locked in eye-to-eye contact, “You realize this is you courting death, don't you?”

Maintaining a playful smile, Sophia met his icy gaze, “Are you worried about me going to jail, or about you, Mr. Henry's, reputation? Or perhaps… you are worried about the child in her belly? Unless… the child is yours?”

Subsequently, Henry instantly released her, stood upright, and looked down at her, “You had better think carefully about how to give an explanation to the Scott family.”

After finishing, Henry turned and headed upstairs as if to retrieve something. Very soon, he came downstairs, and as he walked past the dining room, Sophia looked at his retreating figure, softly saying, “Aren't you staying to eat New Year's Eve dinner?”

However, it was evident that he had no intention of acknowledging her as he headed straight towards the door.

“Henry.” Suddenly, Sophia called out to him.

On hearing his name, Henry stopped in his tracks, turned around, and looked at her without saying a word.

And so they were, eyes meeting but no words being exchanged.

Sophia looked at him, and after a long silence, she smiled lightly, saying, “Happy New Year.”

Henry's eyes fell slightly, and then he just walked out without saying a word…

Sophia merely hooked her lips and poured herself a bowl of simmering soup. She held it in her palms and blew on it…

She tilted her head slightly, looking out the window. The snow was falling heavily…

In the middle of the night:

Sophia suddenly received a call from the police station. Her house was on fire.

She rushed home through the snow, and from afar she could see the bursting flames.

“Dad!”

Sophia exclaimed, wanting to rush into the blaze, but someone blocked her.

She roared at them in despair, pleading for them to save people, but everyone remained indifferent.

Simultaneously, a loud explosion shook the surroundings. She was closely embraced in someone's arms, and in her daze, she saw Henry…

Henry? Sneered… how could it be him?

“Let go!” She crazily struggled to break free from the person who was holding her, like a madwoman.

Afterward, she felt a pain in the back of her neck and vaguely looked at the other party…

Seeing nothing but red before her eyes, there was a buzzing sound in her ears. Eventually, her whole body sank, falling into a bottomless abyss, and after…

She couldn't remember what happened afterward, all she remembered was waking up from a nightmare once more. She was faced with a blinding white light, the warm sunlight shining on her hand. For a moment, she felt like everything that happened was just a dream.
