Chapter 1

See you tomorrow boss!” I yelled over my shoulder to Ms. Jaime, who is the head professor of Goodland College. I am her assistant and she loves taking advantage of my 15$/ hour time. She always has me running the most pointless tasks.

I’m rushing out of the building and the crisp fall air seem to kiss the tip of my nose. The leaves are just started to turn colors. It’s the most beautiful time of the year I think as I pull my leather coat closer to my body. Today was rough, I think as I walk to my car in the professor only parking lot. The upside of this job. It’s not a far walk at all compared to the student lot on the other side of the building.

It was like time went into slow motion. I was lifting my left leg to continue my step when something ran straight into me. The quick brutal force throwing me to the ground.

“Fuck!” I scream and I hit the pavement.

A hand goes over my mouth and the next thing I knew I was feeling a seering pain run down my neck.

I couldn’t breath. I couldn’t feel. As the world went black . All I started to feel was a rapid heat. It started with a squeeze of my heart as the heat started from the middle and spread through my limbs. What is happening?

How long has it been? The pain was quick and now I’m just stuck in the blackness. Even though something tragic just happened, I did not once loose my consciousness. I’m just here, in darkness. My mind races from how my boss is going to be so pissed if I’m late, to the leftover Chinese food I had back at my apartment... or why the fuck am I stuck in the blackness still! This emptyness. The big valley of black nothingness.

“You are her. She is you. Feel her in your veins.” My own voice seems to coo. I mentally shake my body. What is this? “From the dirt she will rise. The princess is chosen. Be her. Feel the rightness” she goes on. I don’t feel anything, let alone this new princess talk that’s going on. As I’m about to yell back at myself, I gasp. I finally feel something, I feel like every muscles locks as I jolt foreward. I must of been laying down.

The light blinds me. I start to heave, I start to shake. My eyes dart around quickly, taking in my surrounding. I’m

In a comfortable king size bed, surroundEd with dark deep purple walls. There’s a wooden dresser with the finest leaf details carved in them. My eyes take in every detail in only a second . How can I see those so well. I hold my head and notice the walls aren’t perfect either, the foundation looks old crackly.

Then it’s a sensory overload, I hear everything. To the locking of a unknown car, to a trickle of water, to the pipes groaning softly. Then I hear voices, many voices. I can’t focus on any particular conversation. They seem to jumble all together, like a drunk slur. Sniffing, I smell the fresh cut wood, a tint of mold, a sweetness unknown.. almost like honey. My eyes are darting, I could feel my head start to pound.

Groaning, I lift my hands and look at them. I look the same, my fingers are nice and slender, with a black nails which I painted just yesterday. Just then the door swings open with aloud thud. I wince at how loud it actually was to me. Like a bomb exploding.

“You’ll get use to it. Just mentally shut off the sounds.” A deep voice says. That’s when I see who is standing at the entrance to the room I woke up in. It’s a man. He’s handsome. He’s tall, with a swimmers bod. With the broad shoulders and tight waist. His face has a devilish bad boy vibe going on. With set of deep green eyes, surrounded with dark long eyelashes that every girl wishes she could naturally have. His nose looked perfect, and then his full pink lips. He smiled, and a freaking dimple pops out on his left cheek. My kidnapper is hot. What in the hell.

“You’re unharmed” he says lifting an Pierced eyebrow. A gold bar that complimented his light tan complexion. My heart should be pounding right now, I’m scared? Aren’t I? As the question my hand flights up to my chest and I don’t feel a beat. I’m going crazy, I’m just in shock.

“I’m Ayden, knight of King Jax. I was sent here to find you.” He runs a hand through his blonde hair, it’s buzzed short on the sides with the middle be a tad shaggier.

“To find me?” I seem to croak. My throat at this time seem to lock up after that. I seering pain begins, every time i swollow I feel a large lump forming. “Here drink this, it’ll help.” He hands me a plastic cup filled with a deep red liquid. You would think he would of given me water.

“What is this?” I sniff and a metallic smell drifts under my nose. Along with a sweetness that makes my teeth begin to hurt. That’s when I feel a sharp tip touch my lip.

“You are now a vampire you need to feed” Ayden says with a hint of amusement.

“Vampire? They aren’t real,” and just like that I snatch the cup and chug. I don’t know what came over me but this pain was too much. I could feel myself starting to panic. As soon as the cold liquid hit my lips, I moaned. It tastes so delicious. Closing my eyes, I finish the cup with a quick lick trying to slurp up every drop.

“It’s blood, you’ll need atleast 8 ounces a day to stay out of a crazed state.” He informs me like this is just a normal conversation. “I need more” I whisper, handing him the cup. As soon as I say this he grabs the cup carefully plucking it out of my hands. Disappearing out of the door without a word.

What Is going on? A vampire? I want to deny it, insist vampires aren’t real. But somewhere deep down I know I am one. It’s a weird realization, I feel and know I am different. No longer just a regular 25 year old human. And I’m not just any vampire. “Princess” my own voice whispers in my mind. I feel strong. Almost invincible, I stand up off the bed. And I need answers now.

Just as I was about to stomp my way out of here and find answers. Ayden is back with another full cup of what I presume to be blood. Vampires as everyone knows drink blood. “Thank you,” I say and chug the second class. “Now tell me Ayden,” I drag out his name, feeling it in my lips. Testing the name. Some part of me, some unknown new part of me knew the name, the man in front of me won’t harm me. “How did this happen? What does this mean? I need answers!” I rush out.

We are standing so close, I barely come up to his neck. He looks down on me as I brush my hair out of my eyes. Those deep green eyes lock onto mine, “we are trying to find the lost Vampire Princess. A oracle told the King this would be the year we find her. He sent out his best 5 soldiers to turn a few women a month till she is found.”

You would think I would be panicking that I was just turned into a vampire. But I realize that this feels right. Every cell in my body seems to rejoice. I feel like Ive been living a lie before this. Like I truely haven’t been living till now. I lift my hand to my heart. As if he’s reading my mind, he smiles gently “it stopped beating the moment I turned you.”

A sadness Causes me to frown. No heartbeat. No pumping heart. I loved the pounding of a heartbeat. I use to lay on my ex-boyfriends chest and just listen and feel the beat. To no longer have one seems so sad. “The rightful Vampire Princess will bring us To the new age of vampires. Are you her? You would know the oracle said the woman that wakes would just know she was her.” He looked hopeful, I could tell he really wanted me to be her.

I am. I feel the rightness, the truth in my thoughts. I am totally the “lost” vampire princess. Do I tell him? A tingle of anger inflames as I think about how many they have turned against the woman’s knowledge beforehand. What if I wasn’t her? What now? I’m still a vampire. But I am her. “Princess” my own voice seems to Coo in my head.

He tilts my head to look up into him. He begins to search my eyes, with his oddly warm hand under my chin. “I am not her” I whisper up to him. I could feel the lie leave my lips before I even really thought about what to say.

Seemed like minutes past before he let go of my chin and took a step back. Ayden brushed his hand through his hair. His hopefulness dimmed and he faked smile and in a business tone,. “I am sorry for this, being a vampire isn’t bad. We will let you go back home in a few days after we educate you on your new life.”
