Introduction
Polina Novitskaya, a humble and impoverished maiden in the 20th century, had long been the object of interest of a feral, enigmatic beast. Finally unable to resist her scent, the creature chased her down one night to devour her. Upon capture, however, instead of finally meeting her death, Polina fell into a deep sleep, and woke up in an unfamiliar place inhabited by strange and vicious people—in a time almost half a millennium away from the future. Unable to adapt to her new environment and tormented by her estrangement from her brother, Polina attempted to end it all with a sharp thrust in the heart, but she was saved by a good-natured peasant, who then introduced her to the royal Romanov family. And thus began her new life—a life of an unquenchable search for the truth, and a life of terror mixed with insatiable lust. Two men, a powerful and mystic royal, and a regular but virtuous peasant, struggled to win her heart and her loyalty, at the cost of completely altering the future and the past, and conscripting one more innocent soul—that is, Polina’s soul—into eternal damnation. So which would it be for Polina? An infinite life of power and decadence with a vampire or a humble, ethical living with a mortal, but one that is perpetually stalked by enemies?
Sanguine, a story of royal drama and supernatural romance, treats the inscrutable question of despair and the subject of family; it depicts the distinction between two different but often falsely interchanged concepts: sincere love and disguised lechery. Show All▼
