Introduction

"If you want to leave so badly, tell me to walk out that door before I take you again." The human stared up at the beast he loved. The man who had protected him without caring for his own wellbeing. The person who took him in the time he had no one. Provided whatever he needed without being asked. Zane's lips trembled as he looked away from the wolf. Siddarth grabbed his jaw and made him look back. "Tell me to leave. If you don't, I'll take you again, Zane." "I-I can't."

Chapter 1

"Don't let him escape!"

The night was quiet in the city of Los Angeles. A cold breeze hit a gorgeous human as he stood in an alley. He hid in the darkness while trying to catch his breath. This angel went by the name of Zane Armani, an African American human with a kind heart that had forgiven way too many cruel people. He had a slender body that was covered in a red dress shirt and black skinny jeans. His melanin skin had many cuts and bruises. Zane's worried face was a piece of art. Brown curls sat on his scalp and fell to his honey eyes. The human had sharp cheekbones and jaw, along with a cute button nose. His innocent doe eyes were the shade of honey and held panic in them. Ruby lips parted to let out harsh breathing. Zane's thick eyebrows furrowed as he felt pain erupt in his foot. He jumped in fear when his ears picked up the sound of heavy footsteps coming his way.

"Where ever he is, bring him back! I want that bitch alive!"

The human ran out of the hiding spot with his heart leaping out of his chest. He heard shouting behind him but Zane ran hurriedly. Tears blinded his vision as he ran inside another dark alley. Blood dripped onto the ground from his wounds, unknowingly leaving a trail for predators. The human looked back while running and saw two goons following him. Zane was forced to stop running when he bumped into a hard surface. The angel looked up and instead of a wall, he saw a broad chest covered in a black leather jacket. This man was almost two heads taller than him and the bottom half of his face was covered by a mask. One thing Zane knew for sure was that the stranger wasn't human. His wine—red eyes held intensity as they dug into his.

"He's right there!" Before the human could run, the two men caught up to him. Zane's chest rose and fell violently and fear chased his heart when the men got closer.

'No, I can't go back.'

Exhausted, Zane grabbed the stranger's jacket with his trembling hands and looked into the blank pair of eyes. The human begged for help. "P—Please save me."

"Let's take him!" One of the goons walked forward to grab the human's arm.

Before he could touch Zane, the stranger pulled him closer and kicked the goon back. The evil human landed against the wall and blood dripped from the back of his head, due to the force he had been pushed back with. Zane whimpered at the pain in his feet and he felt the stranger sit him down on the side of the ground gently.

"Go your way, little boy." The other evil man ordered through gritted teeth. "You're asking for trouble."

The stranger's eyes turned darker and his canines grew sharp behind the mask. Fear was evident in the goon's posture and his legs were trembling. Seeing what had happened to his buddy, the other goon dropped the knife he was holding and ran for his life. A deep growl was all Zane heard before passing out.

The next time the angel woke up, he was laying on a couch and covered with a white sheet. It looked like he was in a hotel room that had dark blue features with dim lights. Zane panicked and looked at his surroundings. The human hissed and peeked under the sheet up to see himself covered in the same clothing he had worn last night. Zane could feel a tight bandage wrapped around his ankle and the deep cuts on his arms had cold gel on them, soothing the pain. The human's anxiety grew as he wondered who had laid their hands on his body.

'Where am I?'

The angel looked up and when he heard a knock on the door. His heart raced in fear as he saw a woman walk through the door. Her heels clicked loudly as she walked towards Zane. The human felt uneasy as the stranger watched him. It was a middle—aged woman with a thin figure that was clad in a white coat and black pants. Her blue eyes were soft and held worry for him, which he couldn't understand.

"Hello there, I am Dr. Maria. Can you tell me your name?" Her light voice was soothing and held a motherly tone.

"Z—Zane."

Maria gave him a kind smile and lifted a white medical kit in the air. "Zane, is it okay if I check your wounds?"

"S—Sure." The doctor helped him sit up and sat next to his trembling form.

"I know you are confused right now but relax, honey. I was called last night to check on your injuries. You don't have to be afraid of me. I am a human being, just like you." The woman said as she sensed how uneasy the human looked.

"O—Oh." All this was too much for the human to bear. He couldn't think straight because nothing was adding up. How did Zane end up in a hotel room when he was running away last night? What had happened to him?

"Can I ask you a question?" The lady asked with a hesitant tone.

"Y—Yes."

"How did you get injured?"

Zane felt his hands shake but he hid them under the sheets. "I..I was running from a bad person."

"Oh, I'm so sorry." Maria said while applying ointment to his cuts.

It became silent afterward but it wasn't awkward. The doctor changed the bandages on his arms gently. She was polite and didn't ask him for any more details, which the human felt thankful for. However, there was one question stuck in the Zane's mind. Who had brought him here? Curiosity was eating his head.

"Doctor, who saved me?" He asked.

"A wolf brought you here, and called me to check on you."

'Who is he?'

As the question crossed his mind, the door opened slowly. The human heard footsteps but didn't dare to look up. Maria's voice pulled the bruised angel out of his thoughts.

"Siddarth, you're here." The doctor said with a gentle voice.

Zane looked up hesitantly and his breath hitched. In front of him, stood the tall man who had protected him in the alley. The stranger had changed into a black suit and a tight red shirt that had two buttons undone, showing off black ink on his toned pecs. Without the mask, Siddarth was handsome. He had a toned body that seemed to be full of muscles and tattoos. His face was gorgeous. Pearl white teeth neatly lined up, two sharp eyes that were the shade of wine red, thick eyebrows along with silky long eyelashes. Siddarth had a button nose and soft pink lips. His jawline was sharp like a blade and covered by a neat beard. His face was flawless but held no ounce of emotion. The wolf had long dark black locks and a few stands fell to his sharp eyes. He was pretty tall, almost six—one in height. The aura this stranger held was cold and powerful. What Zane feared were the man's sharp eyes. The shade of red seemed cold and predatory.
