Penelope was currently waiting in the dressing room on the fourth floor of the packhouse, studying her reflection in the full-length mirror.
Her slender figure in a beautiful wedding dress made of white silk, pearls and diamonds is reflected before her. Her hair combed to perfection and her green eyes amidst her tanned skin.
Her hair and makeup have been done expertly, and the white wedding dress she wore right now hugs her curves in all the right places.
Despite Penelope being nervous, her beauty never faded away.
Through the open window, she could hear various voices from the wedding guests who were gathering in the courtyard below.
The soft violin music playing, the smell of vibrant rose and lily arrangements that have been placed everywhere. She could feel just a hint of the bright morning sun on her back.
Unable to resist the temptation, Penelope walk over to the window and peer outside. She smile. It was just how she wanted her wedding to be.
The door opened, taking over her attention. She turned and just like a magnet, her eyes land on Killah Bloodstone, my husband to be.
Killah looked up and their eyes meet.
He’s tall, super muscular, with dark hair. He’s wearing a well-tailored suit, and his deep eyes are stained with worry.
Killah was a handsome and elegant man. Even we him just standing in front of her doing nothing, he has already attracted enough attention from Penelope’s stylist and the other girls present in the lounge but one glance from Penelope, they hurried out of the lounge.
Well In her opinion, Killah is gorgeous too–– handsome, intelligent and hardworking.
Although Killah was born as an omega but with his effort, he managed to carve out a place for himself within the pack and made his way to become a gamma.
Just staring at him, Penelope remember that rainy night when she accidentally twisted her ankle, and he carefully tended to her injury.
It was pouring, and he didn't have an umbrella. He gave her his jacket to shelter her from the downpour, while he himself was soaked to the skin.
Little by little, he won her affection. Even though she knew he was not her fated mate, she have been looking forward to becoming his bride and today, that wish was gonna come true.
Killah started pacing back and fro. He was looking disturb and Penelope could tell just looking at him.
She walked towards him and said. “Killah, was wrong”
“I’m sorry Penelope. Can we just postpone this wedding. I can’t marry you now” He said and Penelope couldn’t help but furrowed her brows.
“What do you mean by you can’t marry me now?!” She look at her fiancé and repeated what he has just said incredulously.
Killah continued pacing back and forth in the lounge, looking at his watch without replying to her question.
His brows furrow solemnly.
Penelope couldn’t understand what he was saying. What did he mean he can’t marry her now.
They have both waited for this.
Her wish of becoming his bride was supposed to come through today.
She have done everything she could to make this a perfect wedding for them.
To show him how much he means to her, she planned the wedding based on his taste, so that he can be assured that his opinion in their marriage was respected and valued even though he’s arrying an Alpha’s daughter.
Killah prefers red, and thus she choose red as the wedding theme. He loves roses, therefore she used roses as the primary decoration.
He loves her hair down, so even though she normally prefer an updo when she wear a dress, she left her hair cascading.
All she want is a long, loving marriage with the man that has her heart.
However, as Penelope looked at the man standing right in front of her, she realize that maybe she didn’t know him that well.
“Killah…... what’s going on?!”
He frowns, “Olivia just fell into the water earlier. I need to go take care of her.”
“Olivia?” Penelope pause for a moment because this is not at all what she had expected to hear from him.
Olivia is her friend. She’s19 and has a sweet personality. With her heart-shaped face and doe eyes, she is quite adored by the guys.
This morning, while she was preparing for her wedding, she heard that Olivia fell into the lake at the wedding venue, and it caused a commotion because she doesn’t know how to swim.
Luckily, nothing worse happened. Four guys jumped in to save her: the Beta from the theor pack, the son of the Alpha from the Dark hills pack, the young Alpha of White wolf, and her fiance.
Thank the Moon Goddess that she was brought up from the lake without a single scratch. Penelope had her staff take her to the other guest lounge to rest. The problem was, she's a bit traumatized and keeps saying that she’s fraid.
Killah replies, “Yes, Olivia. Someone needs to be there for her. She’s scared to death.”
“Killah,” Penelope tried to reason with him, “I understand she fell in the lake, but I know she is safe and sound. She was there for only a few seconds and was taken out by four of you. As soon as I heard about it I went to see her and I talked to her, her parents will take care of her during the wedding ceremony.”
Killah looks at her impatiently, “She is not safe and sound. She’s traumatized! Pene, this is not a small matter, do you understand? She needs us!”
“No, she doesn’t! She has someone with her who’s watching over her right now. But Killah, I need you. Right here, right now!”
“Why was he acting like this? This is our wedding ceremony! Shouldn’t that be his priority? Shouldn’t I be his priority? Plus I have worked so hard for this day, our day” Penelope couldn’t help but yell inside her.
She step closer to him, takes his hands and look deeply into his eyes, almost pleading.
“She’s my friend and she took my hands and told me she wanted us to move forward with our union. Olivia cares for me, my wellbeing, and my happiness just as much I do with hers. She even said she would join us after getting some dried clothes!”
“But she says she’s afraid. Why are you so unreasonable?”
Penelope could feel her frustration building up out of how confusing his statement is, “she’s unreasonable? For heaven sake, this is THEIR WEDDING!
“You want me to cancel our wedding, and you’re saying I’m unreasonable?! Out of all of the people, someone can take Olivia to the hospital, why does it have to be you?”
“Because I’m a responsible man. C'mon, Penelope, you’re only doing this to keep appearances. You don’t care about Olivia and her wellbeing.”
He yelled.
“Of course I care! I was just with her half an hour ago and I assure you she is totally fine.” Penelope voice sound desperate, but even with her begging him to continue with the wedding, he seems determined to do and act as he says.
Why is he being this way? She couldn’t place it. She don’t even understand at all!
“I thought you’re better than that. Why are you so selfish? I should have known that you were no different than a spoiled alpha’s daughter!” he scolds.
Penelope stare at him and ask, “Excuse me?”
She can’t believe what she just heard from him.
What’s going on?! Everything she have done for him doesn't seem to matter to him.
She thought she knew her fiance well, but obviously she was wrong.
However, she knew better than anyone that she don’t have time to debate with him again. “You can make a choice. If you insist on going to Olivia right now, then our marriage is off.”
Perhaps her tone is too pushy, Killah face drops. He always made it known to her that he didn’t like bossy women.
"If that's your decision, then let it be." He yanks down the bow tie of his suit.
Penelope became speechless. His words hit her in the chest as if a knife plunges into her.
It’s was so painful, but she try to maintain her composure.
“Get out!” Penelope shouted as she pointed at the door. “Get out now! I never want to see you again!”
Killah sneers, “I should have known that you and Olivia were different. She's gentle and kind, while you're jealous and narrow-minded.”
After these words, he exits the room.
