Today is a great day, bright and warm. What a great weather for a new start.
SOPHIA'S POV
At my apartment.
Today would be my first day at work. I was both nervous and excited at the same time. After losing my job working as a waitress in one of the most prestigious restaurant in the capital of Greece Athen,I didn't want to mess this opportunity of working as a servant in one of the most wealthy family in Athens. The salary was unbelievable, I earned decently working as a waitress that's for sure but this job was twice the salary and one of the perks was that, I don't have to work every day. We only work whenever the family visited the mansion for any celebration. If not that I had a friend working at the mansion, I wouldn't have known about this job .
"God bless you Rebecca" I muttered and I gulped down the rest of my coffee. I stood up from the couch I was seated on and went to the kitchen to rinse my mug before setting off for my new job.
Few minutes in the cab I shifted uncomfortably. The weather that was bright few minutes ago was suddenly becoming cloudy and dark. The ride to the mansion also seemed to be longer than usual. I've been to the mansion once so I knew how long it would take to get there, and I also knew the road to the mansion but the cab was in a totally unfamiliar street. Something seemed off.
"Umm sir are we on the right road?" I asked as nicely as I could but the driver didn't reply. His eyes where just glued to the road ahead.
"Sir?" I called but he still wouldn't answer. Now, I was becoming worried. There was no passer-by. Just an empty windy road like a ghost street. Few more minutes pass by and I began to panic. Just as I was about saying something, some kind of force came out of nowhere and smashed the side of the taxi sending the taxi crashing into a store opposite. Everything seemed to happen so fast, when I found little strength and opened my eyes I was lying on my back in the car with my bones twisted at different angles. When I looked upwards my face came directly across the face of the driver. He was staring right at me with blood dripping out of his eyes and his eyes were completely covered pitch black. I tried to scream but no voice came out instead an intense pain engulfed my whole body and I completely blacked out.
I woke up lying on the road, just few feets away from the car wreckage. As I sat down, I rubbed my temple feeling confused and worn out. What just happened, and how did I get out of the car to where I was? I wondered. I stood up and look around me but the street was completely silent as if there were no living beings. I was getting more and more confused, even my body was totally fine. I was suddenly feeling okay as if nothing happened. Cautiously, I walked up to the taxi and peeped inside but it was empty. There was no taxi driver inside.
"What's going on?" I asked myself. I sigh in confusion and quickly went in the damaged car to grab my phone and belongings. I checked my phone and it was working just fine but the service bar was empty. There was no service, I can't call anyone so i decided to walk.
I walk few distance away and when I reached a more lively street, I sigh in relief. My phone suddenly beep of an incoming message so I quickly opened and read the message, it was from Rebecca.
"Hi Sophia where are you? Why aren't you here yet? It getting late. Text me back when you read this."
"Sorry, got hold up, will get there soon" I texted back.
I soon ordered a cab and within few minutes it arrived. Maybe i was just having a bad day, I hope things get better.
At the mansion
I arrived at the mansion and it was simply breathtaking. It was standing so beautiful, gigantic and elegant. Rebecca ushered me in and review me on what and what to do and what not to do. She showed me around the mansion and introduce me to some of the staffs there. I walk beside her as she explained and nodded my head rapidly as I gawk around the interior of the mansion. It filled with different art works and paintings and different artifacts. There were different expensive furnitures. We finally finished the tour and she gave me a uniform. I cringed.
"I know that look, don't worry. You don't have to wear the uniform today. Besides did you see any of the staffs wearing it. You only wear it when there is a celebration going on, on that note there would be a celebration soon" she explained and I sigh in relief.
"Good. So what do I need to start with?" I asked.
"Mmmh, go to the kitchen, see if you can help Katie in cleaning. There would be a family get together party very soon and after that go to the ballroom and try to help in the arrangements and decor. I would be there to check what's going on" she instructed and immediately saunter off, giving instructions to other staffs.
"Wow... She definitely sounds different at work" I muttered before heading to the kitchen.
In the kitchen, I assisted Katie in cleaning and setting up. The kitchen was twice the size of my apartment. It was huge with literally everything in it. After cleaning the kitchen, I went to the ballroom and helped with the decorations. Not help, I literally did all the decorations myself. I was very good at interior design, one of my talents so it was just a piece of cake. The get together was going to be in few days,better be prepared.
TURIN, ITALY.
WILLIAM POV
I sigh in exhaustion as I ended a call from my flight manager. If not that I had a business to take care of back in Greece, I wouldn't be thinking of going back. Now I have to deal with my mom about my engagement with Samantha Russo when I get back. It going to be a long week.
AT THE HOTEL, ATHEN.
My personal assistant and I arrived at a hotel after a short flight from italy to Greece. We needed to get prepared for the get together that was taking place the next day.
The next day.
Knock! Knock! A knock came outside my hotel room.
"Come in Jay" I replied from the inside.
"William, you still not ready yet? Aren't we going to be late? The occasion must have started by now" Jayden my personal assistant and friend said sounding anxious.
"No need to hurry jay, we would be there eventually anyway" I replied swiping through my phone.
"But... Your mom called, she wanted to know when we are arriving at the mansion. We should really get going now" he said insistent.
"Fine... There is no escaping it anyway" I replied dejected.
AT THE MANSION
They both arrived at the mansion when the family get together was already going on. His mom and dad welcomed them with warm embraces and guided them back to the ballroom where the celebration was taking place. It was very lively with few guests and some relative he could recall who were chatting happily and clinging their champagne glasses together Merrily. His dad Mr watson called their attention by tapping a utensil on his glass.
"Welcome everyone, thank you for honoring my family's invitation. It means so much to my family. This celebration is not just for us to come together as one family, it is to celebrate the great achievements of my son as a well known businessman, I've always been proud of you son. Thank you everyone and please enjoy yourselves to the fullest" he concluded and they applause for him.After few more toast from other members,they resume the celebration.
Mr and mrs watson were content with the celebration and we're enjoying themselves. Later, They lead William to a table where the Russo's family were seated. Immediately Mrs Russo saw william she smiled at him.
"William, it been so long I set my eyes on you. How have you been my dear?" She asked smiling warmly at him.
"Am fine Mrs Russo, I hope you are enjoying your time here" he replied.
"Have a seat william, it been so long we exchange any words. We only get to read about you on tabloids. I heard about the deal you just...
"Honey!can we not talk about your work now. We are supposed to be celebrating remember.." Mrs Russo said nudging her husband.
"Okay..okay.." he replied defensively.
"Um, Samantha? Aren't you going to say hello to william?" Mrs Russo asked her daughter who seemed uninterested.
"Hello William.."she said not even looking his way.
"Samantha!" Her mom almost yelled at her.
"What!, I never wanted to be here anyway" she rudely replied,stood up and left the table.
"There is no need for things to get heated, am sure the two of them will catch up later" Mrs Watson said.
"Yes. How about more champagne and desert, this alba white truffle cream cheese bagel are my favorite.Why don't you try it" Mr watson said trying to ease the tension.
Way to been rude samantha, I wonder what my parents see in her. At least now I have something to use to end this godforsaken engagement. There is no way am ending up with someone like her. William thought within himself but outside he had a fake smile plastered on his face.
SAMANTHA'S POV
I wander around the ballroom until I came to a corner. I stood there feeling angry, I really hated been here. I never wanted to be there in the first place, I hated this whole engagement saga. I don't want to get tied down with some business pyscho.
