“I, Alpha Derrick Woodson, rejects Hazel Gregory as my mate and Luna. I never want to see your face ever again, you’re dead to me”
Derrick said. Hazel fell on her knees. It was the most excruciating words she had ever heard in her entire life. His words stabbed straight into her heart like a knife.
Nooooo!
“No! You can’t do this to me, Derrick!” She cried out in pains but never once did she look away from his eyes. His eyes that were once filled with love for her suddenly stared at her with repulse and hatred.
“How can you do this to me Derrick?, you said you loved me! How could you do this to the woman you loved, “ she yelled out in anger, sadness and despair while tears streamed down her face.
People were beginning to stare. She could hear the murmurs all around her but her sole attention was on him. The man she had ever loved.
“Please don’t leave me Derrick, I’m gonna die. I can’t live without you in my life” Hazel cried. Alpha Derrick seemed surprised by that and suddenly glared at her.
“Stop with the pretense woman! I’m tired of hearing you speak. I no longer have nothing to do with you! Get out of my sight!”He spat and pushed her away. Hazel eyes widened then she let out a groan as her heart clenched with pain.
“Please! Don’t do this to me Derrick!” She cried out but even with everything she said, he still turned away from her and walked away.
He was really gone. Her mate turn his back on her and rejected her.
She could hear murmurings which was becoming louder. She quickly wipe her tears. She didn’t want to give the pack members to see the satisfaction that his rejection really broke her.
But then, it did. She could feel her tears threatening to fall again but she held it, while blinking multiples times.
She gradually picked her broken pieces and stood up. She held her gaze to the ground as she ran pass the pack members who were still murmuring.
Her heart sank. It was aching excruciatingly. Her wolf kept crying because their mate had just rejected them brazenly. Hazel eyes quickly flowed but she quickly shut her eyes to calm herself.
His rejection shattered her heart into pieces. Her mate rejected her.
Once Hazel got to her room. She fell to the ground and broke into an uncontrollable tears.
It hurts like hell. Alpha Derrick and Eva was all she has in this pack that she called home.
She was the only daughter of late Beta. She lost her father at the age of seventeen just after she started shape shifting.
Hazel was quite different from everyone since she shifted at age seventeen and everyone believes that werewolves can only shift at age eighteen. Out of the truama her mother had died the following week, leaving Hazel to be an Orphan.
She was ignored by most of the pack members. Hazel had no one except her best friend Eva. Eva was the only daughter of their Alpha, Woodson. They have been best of friends right from their childhood days.
They were both of same age. Eve was the only one who watched her trained herself every night on the far side of the wood. Since Eva hasn’t shape shift, watching Hazel was her source of happiness and consolation. Every one might sees Hazel as a weird wolf since she shifted quickly and had two different eye color.
But when Hazel turned eighteen, she had felt this sudden happiness. She was gonna find her mate and get out of this hellhole.
She believes her mate will help bring her out of her shell. Unbeknownst to her, Eva brother who she had mocked for not finding his mate, turned out to be her mate.
Shr joked at the future Alpha when he couldn't find his mate. Never had she expected she actually joked at herself. When it came to the day for him to be enthroned and to entitle his chosen luna, lucky for her, She found hrr own mate. However, it was nobody else but him...
She could still remember how it all happened.
*FLASHBACK TO A MONTH AGO*
“Happy birthday to you, Hazel!” Eva loud scream woke me up. Hazel lazily opened her eyes. Eva had a cake on her hands with a wide grin plastered on her face.
Hazel smile widely and said,
“Thanks. Happy birthday too, Eva”
She smiled while her eyes sparkled and hugged me.
“Thanks. We’re finally eighteen!”
“Yeah. “ I pulled away from the hug and pinched her nose. She pouted.
“Guess what?” She said and Hazel rolled her eyes.
“You know I can’t guessed. Stop putting me on suspend and tell me already!” Hazel mumbled.
“My parents organized a birthday party for me. All the pack members are invited!” She screamed, causing Hazel to block her ears.
“Of course! I’m not expecting something less. It’s you eighteen years birthday Eva!” Hazel muttered.
“Fuck! I’m so happy!!” She screamed, dropping the cake on the table close by. She started dancing all over the room.
“It’s my birthday, I’m gonna shift and I’m gonna find my mate. I can’t wait!” She kept blabbing non stop.
Hazel couldn’t help but laugh at her best friend childishness.
“Grow up! You’re now eighteen!” Hazel sparked her head.
“Ouch Hazel!. That fucking hurt!” She cursed, picking a pillow and throw it at her.
Hazel was able to dodge it and stuck her tongue at Eva.
“Fuck! I’m gonna get you!” She screamed, rushing to Hazel like a hungry lion, ready to devour her.
Soon the whole room was scattered and laughter filled the air as both girls played with each other.
LATER IN THE EVENING
"You can't look charming even if you wear nothing to the party, chipmunk." Eva snickered
"Well, isn't your honesty refreshing?" Hazel glared at him.
"Trust me it isn't going to take you anywhere" Eva laughed.
"do you still want to take your time choosing a stupid dress that no one is going to give a second glance at or are you going to let me dress you up?” She smirked at her.
“Your wish….” Hazel laughed.
“Wait a minute Hazel….” Eva muttered as if she realize something.
“Ever since your parents died, you never attended any party and you take zero interest about yourself and appearance. I doubt if you were gonna attend this party with me but surprisingly, you have been rummaging through your closet, looking for something gorgeous to wear. Isn’t what am thinking?” Eva asked with her brows raised.
“What?....” Hazel furrowed her brows.
Her gaze moved to the mouthwatering whole chicken lying compellingly on the buffet table.
“Oh goddess" She mumbled, grabbed the first pink frock mher eyes landed on.
“My brother Derrick is coming back home and today is his enthronement. Tell me something Hazel, have you been crushing on my brother?” She asked and Hazel eyes widened but she burst into laughter the next minute.
“Haha. Very funny”
She laughed.
That was way too funny.
Since Derrick was the future Alpha of their pack “white wolf” his mate is the one everyone’s been waiting for.
So once he finds his mate they can together start the training to be the next alphas of their pack.
She could still remember when Derrick turned 18th. Everyone has expected him to find his mate then but unfortunately, it never happened.
She had mocked him for not being able to find his mate.
The fact that Derrick had given up in finding his mates and had left their pack to his med school.
Derrick has always wanted to be a doctor and his father, Alpha Liam Woodson, like always, approves of his intelligent and obedient son.
After good six years, Derrick would be coming home this summer.
"you know, the other day before Derrick left for school, I had asked him what kind of a mate he wants and he said, I quote 'someone elegant, graceful and kind, someone who will serve our pack along with me', I asked if he meant a doctor and he said he would definitely like it if she wanted to be one" Eva turned to her "I was suddenly reminded of you"
"ME?" Hazel widened her already wide eyes.
"Yes" Eva replied. "The polar opposite of you" and winked
Ouch!
She glared at her.
"yeah right, we will see what Mr. Uptight ends up with, elegant my foot. Seriously, he’s such a peacock. I pity his mate!” Hazel said and scoffed.
“Oh Hazel, I forgot to show you this. Derrick sent his recent pictures to me some days back.
Eva picked her phone. Unlocking it, she went to her gallery and open a picture of him.
Hazel peeked a glance at the picture.
Derrick standing among his friends with a perfect poker face.
He had really become a man, he was no longer the young adult she remembered him as.
His face had changed so much and the look on his face in that picture, it was a matured looke and she hated to admit that he was so hot.
Hazel gulped as her eyes glued to the picture of him. She could not hold back the amazement on how much he had changed over the years.
“My brother is handsome. Yeah! I know. Don’t stare too much” Eva said and Hazel rolled her eyes. She walked back to her closet and started rummaging it again
"Goddess!" Eva said.
“I still can’t believe you’re doing it again. Do you really wanna be mated with my brother…” She said and Hazel was sure she had a smirk plastered on her face.
"I swear I'll kill you someday" She snorted and Eva laughed.
" I just want to look beautiful in a dress" Hazel said truthfully.
Eva smiled "Don't worry you are going to be so much more beautiful than any girl in the party"
"Really?"
"Yes, only if you allow me pick a dress for you!” She said.
“uh huh” Hazel shook her head.
“stop stuffing your mouth left right and center. It’s not happening.” She added.
“Suit yourself!. I was gonna dress you so hot that my brother wouldn’t have to take his eyes off you. Not even the girl he’s coming back with will be able to stop him……” Eve said and she furrowed her brows.
“Derrick is coming home with a girl?” Hazel asked surprised and Eva nodded.
“I heard him telling father over the phone. I figured he still haven’t find his mate. He must have given up on finding his mate. He found someone he liked over there instead and he’s bringing her home. I heard he’s gonna engaged her tonight…..”
Eva said. Hazel didn’t know how or what to reply. Her heart was beating rapidly.
No, she wasn’t crushing on him yet she couldn’t understand this feeling.
Wolves giving up on their mates are rare; Alphas giving up on their mates are part of folktales, something that even their parents have never heard of. Alphas even go to packs beyond the ocean to find their mates. An alphas mate is also almost always a wolf.
"Damn right, Great. He finally found someone he like." She mock-growled.
It's been almost 6 years for Derrick, his mate didn't show up. It's no longer a topic to be taken lightly; it was about the future of their pack.
“I won’t blame him for bringing a girl home since the pack members are gonna gossip. Some might look at him with pity but that doesn't mean he can give up on finding his mate!”
Hazel thought and gave a mirthless laugh.
She couldn’t believe she just had that silly thoughts.
“You’re behaving weird!” Eva said and Hazel jolted from her thoughts.
“Whatever!” She smile.
